I received a Pineider Avatar UR with the steel nib at Christmas and it wrote well right away. The first ink I tried was a red by Mont Blanc and it wrote dry so I switched right away with Diamine Writer's Blood because I knew it would write wet and it did. It writes beautifully. I really appreciate this gift from my son. It was my first fountain pen from Pineider. Usually I collect Mont Blanc and Pelikan but I'm glad that he made me discover this company.
Hi, Helene. Congratulations on your Pineider. I got two Avatar URs after making this video and they wrote great out of the box. The Alchemist and black Avatar took some effort to get working but they are good now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
My Pineider Avatar Black in Sky Blue had the exact same super dry nib with the black paint coating. Multiple brass shim attempts over months without improvement. I replaced the nib with a Monteverde black nib and it works better. I really like the aesthetics of Pineider pens, but I am going to appreciate that other people have them and I wish them all the best on a great writing experience. Thanks so much for your videos and sharing your experience! 😊
Helpful, and a little shocking RE the quality control. I have an Avatar UR with 14K Quill nib which has given me no trouble. It is a better nib than I am a writer, but I hope to grow into it. I have, however, also been dismayed at having to use a brass shim on a Conklin and a BENU -- Jowo & Schmidt -- where at the price you'd think there had been in house testing, whereas I never have been disappointed by a Jinhao or Hongdian nib. I understand that some people may have, but I've bought a lot of those inexpensive Chinese pens. Anyhow, thanks! Love your reviews!
Hi, Rob. I agree. The Chinese pens are catching up In quality very quickly. For me, Monteverdes and Pineider have been the worst. They are great now but I had to work them. The Quill nib is beautiful but does take effort and patience to learn.
Thank you for this honest review :) I have one the Arco with quill nib. It is a great writer. Lovely box, and the portable ink bottle that came with it was awesome.
Nice review Terry! They have some really nice looking fountain pens, but something has always kept me from going through with the send to basket option when I look at them. I just can't put my finger on why. It's just a feeling. Nothing negative, but I just never felt that pull. Monica ;)
Hi, Monica. I did get two additional ones and they were okay. No tweaking needed. But I’d only recommend these if you’re able to try them in a store or at a pen show. Love your videos!
I have 2 Pineider Avatar pens and they actually write ok, but they always dry up on me - I think the magnetic caps just don‘t seal very well. So they are stored away for now and I won‘t be getting any more. This experience has actually prevented me from buying any other pens with magnetic caps.
Hi. The Bellezza doesn’t cap tight at all but I haven’t had any issues with drying luckily. Storing them cap side down when inked may help a bit. It’s too bad. They are such pretty pens.
Great reviews and demonstrations. The Matte Black looks amazing, but like you suggested at the end, I will be avoiding. There are too many other options out there where cheaper pens perform as intended without having to fiddle with them.
Hi. They are amazing once you get them to work but we shouldn’t have to work on them. The cheapest pen in that bunch was @$150. You are making the right decision to pass.
The only Pineider I have is the Twin Tank Touchdown with an extra fine (later upgraded to a stub 1.1) and I had absolutely no problem with it, I do know of people that had similar issues though so I guess I lucked out, I will say that they didn't lie on the ultra resin, that thing took a nasty fall on rocks (yeah, I'm that moron who brings expensive fountain pens while camping) and was completely unscathed, I might actually get another one if they ever make a compact model.
Hi. I’ve been eyeing the Twin Tank. Despite my rant, I’ve haven’t given up on Pineider. I think they will get it right eventually. I have bought a few since and they have been better. Thanks for watching and sharing!!
Hi. Although it will ship from Romania, it only takes a week. I would recommend PV especially for an expensive pen, b/c Emy always QCs the pens before it leaves. He will also tweak the nib to your liking if you want.
Not directly but Dante DelVecchio co-founded Visconti and now works for Pineider. So, there may be some similarities here and there. He is really forward thinking when it comes to pen design.
@@drawinsscribblins5326 There are a lot of similarities now. Pineider is one of the oldest pen and stationary companies. Visconti is relatively new, but when del Vecchio went to Pineider, I started seeing all these Visconti things at Pineider: A lava Resin pen Person's initials on the cap finial travelling inkwell two-reservoir ink system some pen clips have that distinctive curve like Visconti creating an almost indestructible pen
Hi. They have a lot of style for sure but were definitely lacking some quality control. I think the company has a lot of potential but needs to pay more attention to the “small” things. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Glueless is a challenge. If you can master that, it is a sign of art and quality. Similar as a stone wall, where the stones fit together almost seamless. Much more artisanal than just a brick and morter wall. Think of the time when glue was not easy to master. Also, building a wooden house or furniture without glue or screw or metal nails takes more knoledge, creativity and skills than going the easy way. You have to be very exact and thougthful, using tapping and wooden nails instead of glue and screws or metal nails. Just as there is a different level of skillfullness between taking a photograph and draw what you have seen, and than make a painting based on that. Sure, a photo is quicker and more exact, but the drawing or painting is the way to show off your art, feelings, and skills in creativity.
Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. I totally agree with you, blue-dog, with regard to the skill it takes to craft something without glue. Tolerances have to be exact. But, Pineider has to increase the quality of their nibs first then implement all these other unique features.
I know. I still have a love/hate relationship with Pineider. They really need to learn to dot their “i’s” and cross their “t’s”. Thanks for watching l!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience. It is really a shame. Hopefully they will put more effort into their QC.
I appreciate your honest review and for the price they should be flawless.
Thank you. I appreciate it. Hopefully, Pineider will get their act together. They have a lot of potential.

Thanks for the reviews. Guess I will order mine from Pen Venture like you suggest.

Are Pineider and Visconti related?

Nothing is more important than QUALITY CONTROL. We spend $$$$.$$. All we ask is for someone who cares for their finished product.
