Barry McGuigan We have them in northern europe. I do presume they are sold other places as well. In norway at lest, where this is, having diesel powered machinery is quite neat, due to the fact that you can fill them up with lower taxed fuel. Fuel ment for cars as petrol and whats locally known as road diesel is quite heavily taxed. but in addition we also has colored diesel, that is much cheaper(not allowed to fill on your car). That combined with the fact diesel engines has a better fuel economy makes them fairly attractive also in ATVs. I am sorry for the strange sentence construction, but there are some essensial words i can't really remember at the moment.
like the red diesel in uk and green diesel in Ireland, people have been known to bring green diesel up from the south and try selling it as clear, they still get ruined when customs get them though
After a little research, you are correct. It's just not available at my location (central North Carolina) I certainly wish that I could find one, I find diesel engines are near impossible to wear out, let alone the great torque... Anyway, thanks for the reply!
Most quad racers use a twist throttle due to the fact that the majority of them come from a motorcycle background. You can find twist throttle kits anywhere for quads. Its also common because you tend to get less arm pump with a twist throttle rather than with a thumb. The Arctic Cat diesel came out about 7 years ago.
Have 1 of each, did a turbocharger on the Diesel. The diesel is faster to 35 mph than the gas! Plows snow much better than the gas! So I'd say, after a turbocharger, much more torque than the gas, but top speed is only about 50 mph, gas model is over 70 mph.
Instead of keep twisting and turning and starting and stopping just KEEP the throttle at say 1000 RPM until its warm enough to keep going by itself. WHY do you go up and down aaaaal the time in the RPMs??? Make no sense at all.
because i need one hand to hold the camera, and the other hand to push the starter button, then there's no hand left over... usually i hold some throttle the first seconds and then smootly return back to idle, if released too fast, the engine will stall as the governor don't react fast enough when cold.
I have the 2013 arctic cat here in the States. One of a very few here. I have had cold weather problems with mine and the dealer doesn't know how to work on it. It has a block heater installed. Starts fine in the cold (with or without the block heater), but develops very little power and RPM in the cold. (I have used it down to -25'F). Have you had similar issue?
Hi in this video are you using the stock battery it look like you are I upgraded mine with a VW TDI you have a little more KM than mine a more HR'S seems to start good mine I have installed a block heater on it it makes it start much beeter
Spray the throttle, where the cable connects to intake manifold with WD 40. My diesel starts as well as my gas Arctic Cat ATV's in the cold. I always give mine 1/3 throttle to start. Mine has conventional thumb throttle, I like yours better!
I am getting one. Was curious how it starts in the cold, thank you. I will keep a gas model in case it won't start. In Maine we can get -25F , but only once in a while. I plan to use it in the woods. Gas powered Arctic Cat already pulls great.
At that temp 3 glow cycles and throttle just enough to get to idol. Then let it idol till temp is even. Throttling a diesel engine at low temp dumps fuel past the piston rings and dilutes the oil performance terribly. Very low hour longevity if done consistently. Impressive unit. You must use a bit of anti gel or your fuel anti gel is pre mixed and good concentration.
Some advice from a place colder than -25; Get yourself a motorcycle cruise control, the type that holds the throttle at a set point. VERY handy for warming up. You really should preheat the engine, this sort of start is bloody harsh on equipment that costs a lot. AND, diesels never pay back their cost premium, unless you run the machine until you're an old man AND you have no major breakdowns.
Great video :-) I have a new Diesel 700 Arctic Cat 2014 review on my channel. Take a look. I did a full review. Skål ! Godt Sommer ! min favorit øl er fem punkt to fra systembolaget :-)
I've never even heard of a diesel 4-wheeler before. Very nice :)
never knew there was such a thing as a diesel engine quad bike.

+Torvikholm I had no problems understanding.

Exactly
You have one awesome battery in that thing. It would not quit turning it over. It must be huge.
dual batterys, stock 21Ah plus a 17Ah under the seat, where gas models have the battery.
Its not a compression start?
oh my god holy shmoly chocolate pudding BUTTERCAKES i love that sound!!!
Good english, and a very nice quad. I love diesels.
Once I had a Deutz tractor - 1 cylinder, built 1954 - it sounded a lot like this ATV - maybe thats why I like this one.....

Started pretty good i think.

Cover it up... It will last longer
hi, that tractor is used for snow plowing, it's a Fordson Major diesel 1952
This is very neat! We do not have any diesel bikes here in the U.S.
You can get diesel ATV???
How much power does that thing have compared to a 700cc gas ATV? Does the diesel have more torque?
over 5 000 dollars to get an diesel arctic cat
Regular gas ATV's is between 5-10g depending what you get, so that's not bad.

Justin Lynch
Yes diesel has about 3 to 4 times the torque so yes it is almos 10 times more logical for farm or utility use than gas

if you read the description, it's already explained...

What are the red lights for on the handlebar beside the throttle

he has an atv for a purpose bc a motorcyle can't do what the atv does think
What in heaven's name are you going on about?
Try an Optima Yellow Top D51R, fits perfectly. Interesting, my 2008 has a thumb throttle. They are definitely Super Duty!
Intellitronix guages on the gas tank?
Now start that tractor
I want to see the tractor too
I guess it has no engine block heater? Also, is it a 2 or 4 cycle?
Nice! It'd be great to kneel down behind the tail and smell the exhaust smoke when that one starts up :)
How is price
Awesome! I'd like to be behind the exhaust pipe and inhale the fumes when you rev it :)
This is available in the states, Arctic Cat is an American Company, just saw 3 at a dealer a month ago.
what model is that
symtec controller for heated handlebars, heated seat and auxillary outputs for heated boots and vest
is that a 'homemade' type of thing. never heard of a artic cat diesel. Maybe a side by side but not a atv
Brad28604 nope. They make em
Brad28604 they don't sell them in the us I don't think they're alot of different quads trucks and cars we can't own in the states
Skylar Sheldon they sell them in the us. Neighbor has a red one. There a slow quad but a lot of torque
Must've been a specialty order, I've never seen one first hand even at the dealerships I've never seen one for sale
You can have mine, after you pry it from my cold dead hands! haha, love it.
hi, no i have dual batteries in parallel. both the ctock 21Ah battery and an 18Ah battery placed under the tool box.
would the olde major start in that cold boss
Arctic Cat...............DIESEL?! woah!!
that sounds so nice
i'm quite sure that this ATV is availible in the US. too.
such a cool quad man, Great videos
Was the oil liquid before you started it?
Nice ! Kubota engine ?
Great video.
At the beginning beat it a little bit more, and don't keep trying to rev it when it is cold it is bad for the motor, let it warm up
I never even knew they had cats in the arctic. bearings go quick in the cold a? non ear friendly bearing a.
nice cat.
the twist trottle is not stock, it had a thumb throttle before.
Don't move the throttle like that just hold it slightly open and it would have started.
Keep it at a low steady idle before trying to rev it up.
Stay on that throttle when you first start and you won't have to re- start so many times.
In my country its common to use both.. but thanks for the note.
water temp and oil pressure gauges
Can it role Cole
Amanda Keck That's like asking if a Volkswagen polo diesel if it can roll coal
Amanda Keck no because it's not owned by an idiot, so the dealers don't sell them the extra idiot package 😆
"Now it's running".... *instantly shuts off*
Never seen a ATV with diesel engine
Ayyy I got a fordson major to
thats impressive.
the twist throttle isn't standard, and Arctic has made diesel ATV since 2007
I have never seen a diesel twist throttle fourweeler before
diesel ATV? wow cool
du är svensk va
100% raggare ja
coolt me diesel på 4-hjuling!
Once you have it on don't piss with it let's it idel
Never seen a fourwheeler that's diesel or has a twist throttle
sounds like you got a whistle and a rooster stuck in your engine
Altså den där Svengelskan 😂
Giving it throttle won't help start it, it's fuel injected.
No, Lombardini LDW702
Turn your key on and off 4 times so it can heat up dunny
give it some tractor smack =)
Man, I fucking love your accent! Nice machine, I'd take it it's not original. Can we get a vid of that nice tractor beside it? Its a Ferguson right?
Don't like the twist throttle
при минус 25 снег не идет! псмотри на моем канале.

lovely english
manetką gazu się nie gazuje na zimnym silniku , tylko się trzyma na lekko zwiększonych obrotach, bo diesel nie lubi na zimno takiego gazowania.
a co tobie do tego quada ?
Purplpower
A widziałeś świece żarowe w benzyniaku?
***** a kto tu napisał coś o świecach żarowych w benzyniaku ?, bo nie kumam
edisoniras77
Pan Purplower nie wierzy, że w quadach są diesle ;) O to chodzi.
Don't Revit up in the cold
Sounds like a rusty old sewing machine...
BECASUE IT'S A DIESEL ENGINE COLD STARTING ON -25C
lol, -25 is not cold start.
WladimirWWW yes it is. Do you regularly do colder?
you wouldnt be able to start a goddamn toy car 🤣
2015 list for $10,899 us
This is why you buy a gas four wheeler and make sure it's not a arctic cat. They are junk!

Stick your yamastal up your ass. No one gives a shit what you ride!
It's obvious you have no idea what the mask stands for, and judging by your grammar you only have the education of the aforementioned five year old.
Corey Schmidt
*it's
Yes! Yammies all the way! I myself also have a 700! :)
When you cold start diesel you don't rev it
you don't, others do.
I just turn my engine idle speeds down
