A special note to all of the Kicker haters. If it wasn't for Kicker there may not even be car audio as we know it today. They pretty much founded the entire industry starting back in the '70's. As far as I know of their are only 2 OG car audio founding name brands still under their original owners and principals. That is Kicker and Rockford Fosgate. All the other great names of the late '80's and late '90's have now been bought up and their good names desecrated. Sound Stream, Orion and many others. So you may hate Kicker but they did what they had to do to stay in business and fund high end innovative products, and for that they deserve more respect.
Yes all that is true but it's 2019 the car audio market has grown since then kicker is no longer high end there amps are good but overpriced the subs are known to blow and they don't sell recone kits. It's not good for spl or sq however it is a save buy for the average consumer
This is solely where the L7 series and other square subs shine. There is no possible way to put as many round subs in the same surface area. It's physically impossible. Im not keen on Kicker but they did what some thought was impossible and that makes me respect them..
Sick. I'm a huge Kicker fan. I've been buying Kicker since right around 1989-90. I actually have a shit ton of audio from all kinds of manufacturers and I still have just about everything I've ever bought. My Kicker collection is a big chunk of my collection. Kicker's holding 2021's OSS meet in Stillwater so I'm breaking out a bunch of my old school Kicker, doing an install and taking it to Kip and the gang. Can't wait. It's gonna be epic. Subscribed bro.
@@Damnthatcrazyyyy Well that's a long story. Kicker, which was at one time just a product line of Stillwater Designs, was the pinnacle of car audio. It has humble roots but first and foremost they offered an amazing product line that was affordable at the low end but competitive with the most state of the art companies in their top line gear. It was all made in the United States either in house or at respected build houses in the United States like Credence in Kentucky. The original L5 and L7 square subs were released in the 2000 model year. If you tear down one of those subs and a new overseas built L7 from today the difference is obvious in the fit and finish to the quality of materials. The solo x are amazing drivers which don't really have an anolog today in their line up. They made a very good name for themselves by building a quality product at an affordable price and are now cashing in on their notoriety by building crap product cheaply overseas and selling it at a premium price. It's not fair to the consumer but I will say that compared to other car audio companies of today they are still heads and tails above their competition for customer service and they actually engineer their own product unlike 90% of companies who just call a build house in Korea or China and tell them the specs they want and Hong and Wang design the product and fill a 40' container of the crap and ship it to the company with their logo on it. That is why when you look at the guts of an amp or the basket and motor of a subwoofer they are identical on many models from many different companies. Kicker is still better than most but they aren't near the quality or top of the game like they used to be. They are are a large corporation that only exist to make as much money as possible. They are no longer cutting edge or exciting as a company. That is why Kicker sucks today.

It would shred all forty as soon as they started clipping. Kicker is not known for being able to over power. 1500 - 1750 watts rms is the end of the road for these. At 100,000 rms each would be over powered by 1000 watts rms. He could always sell these and buy 40 of the newer MTX Jackhammers. 😂
