An Oasis and tennis aficionado; a perfume addict and literature enthusiast; a music connoisseur and extraordinary artist. There are countless ways to describe accomplished artist, Friedrich Kunath and his diversified collections.
Friedrich Kunath shows us how collecting allows him to drift through certain identifies, inhibiting him as an artist, father, friend etc. His versatile collection allows the artist to drift through these zones whether it be in his studio or home, as if he were going through different personalities. His collections are archives, 3D moldboards, souvenirs of life, and potential influences for his paintings.
Kunath shows us just how personal collecting can be. Taking a less traditional route, we see how deeply connected his collections are to certain moments of his life. He views perfumes for example, as invisible sculptures, providing the power to instantly bring you back to a deep memory. Whether it’s music, tennis, art, or even fashion, Kunath demonstrates how his passion for collecting is more intuitive than premeditated.
