      @@sallyberger7063 Look into 'AIRALO' or something similar for cheap data. If the locals have cellular, you will too.

    This is life changing! I had no idea this was even possible! I have been the planner on this trip, and this will be great to share with my hubby. He's usually the one who gets us around wherever we are, so now he'll know where to navigate to. THANK YOU!!!

      You’re so welcome!! It changed my life when I discovered it too cuz I’m always the planner and navigator of the group! Hope this makes both your planning and travels easier :)

    I did this for the first time in 2018 when I went to Japan and it was the most easiest/convenient way to get around. Now I make sure to do it all the time traveling. Although I've never actually built out maps on google, I just save all of them on my google maps app on my phone. It harder to make day itineraries because of that, so instead I organize them out of my preference of importance. Your way is definitely a lot more structured and less chaotic.
    For anyone else reading I would definitely recommend Staring key places on your map like your hotel, airport, meeting locations, etc.

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  Рік тому +1

      So good to know!! Yeah that’s probably the quicker mobile solution to just star it all directly on your phone if you didn’t have enough time to make it before hand.
      And great tip, definitely starting key places like your hotel is important! Thanks so much for your comment :)

    I'm doing it in similar way, but I'm dividing points between layers (called e.g. day 1, day 2...) and then set the same style for whole layer. That way you select color only once and then just drag points between layers.

    I stayed at the Orange Drive Hostel in LA, and they had one of these maps available for guests to see the sites. AMAZING! I didn't realize they are so easy to make! Game changer. Thank you!
    I'm in the planning stages of an 8-night trip. Am I crazy? Three nights in Edinburgh (car rental to Glenfinnan Viaduct and Highlands on one of the days), train to Liverpool for 1 night (I'm a Beatles fan), train to London for 2 nights, train to Paris for 2 nights. The Eurostar has been on my bucket list for years, and I'm looking forward to driving in Scotland, so this trip has a lot of, "getting there is half the fun" about it. 🙂

      @@SheRunTheWorld I'm traveling with my 30-year-old son, who was a Harry Potter FREAK when he was young, so the trip will definitely be filled with MAGIC. haha
      Thanks for your helpful videos! I think for London, we arrive late afternoon, so we're going to the HP studio that night (what a trek!), then possibly a city bike tour the second day. We catch the Eurostar in the afternoon on the 3rd day.
      For Paris, I thought we'd do a Seine River tour that night, then wander aimlessly the second day. We fly home on the third day.
      I've been to both London and Paris (1980s), so I've experienced most of the touristy sites. My son's only request was the HP stuff. He's not big on museums, and I'm like you about going inside the buildings. The outside architecture and scenery is stunning on its own. Best example in my opinion is Amsterdam.

    you are excellent. i am learning this google map stuff. I'm from San Diego but I spent 4 months in Ecuador on 3 separate trips. But, since Quito airport is outside the city of Quito, I just take the airport bus for $3 to Otavalo. Then, I go into the mountain region near Zuleta and imbabura. I live at the beach so I look for mountains. great video and you are a good person to watch !! june I have 4 month trip to South America to ski. This was awesome! Does it matter in what order you put your list of things to do? Will it automatically rearrange in order of what is next up on the map?

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  3 місяці тому

      So glad!! I don’t think it automatically rearranges. I always put them in the order of things I want to see, so it’s easy to just click the next thing on the list!

    It's helpful but I'm wondering if it can also map out the route. For example, we flew to Vegas, stayed down in Boulder for the Hoover Dam, drove over to the Grand Canyon, spent a couple days there then drove over to Monument Valley and spent a couple days there (with one day driving over to Page AZ for Horseshoe Bend and Slot Canyons. We then left Monument Valley and went to Moab UT for CanyonLands and Arches NP, then over to Zion for a few days, then back to Vegas. It would be nice to see the distances and time to drive between each major area.

    Hi Brittany, I really like this video! I run a Photo tour company in Singapore and I can’t tell how many people ask me every day “What can I do in Singapore “ … It’s hard to imagine spending so much $$$$ for a trip and not doing any research on what to do. I also see tonnes of folks young and old who do not have working phones or data plans!
    I would love to include this video on using Google Maps in one of my blogs?

    Hi. Just found your post and am super happy to learn about this. I am travel planning challenged and I should be planning sales trips for my company. Is there a way to type in all the destinations and have Google route them in the most efficient way? Or do I just manually move the destinations up or down the list to accomplish the same thing?

    • @SheRunTheWorld

    Fabulous vid. You taught a lot of info in only minutes. I'd like to know how to review a location, in street view, BEFORE starting my trip to see if it's, for example, in an unsafe area. When I'm in street view, I can tap the arrows that display on the screen to visually see the streets ill be on. However, tapping those suckers (the arrows) moves me down each street very slowly. Is there any way to navigate the streets faster? I appreciate your thoughts.

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  11 місяців тому

      You can do another layer of the map on top of your pins called “directions” and click one pin as Point A and one pin as Point B to see how far. It’s usually pretty obvious once you’re looking at the pins though if you’re able to do it in one day!!

    I completed my google maps....however I made another layer for each day as well as color coordinated....how can i pull up only one day (layer) at a time on the phone? i can share my google map if you do not understand what I am saying.

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  10 місяців тому +1

      I’m not sure I don’t normally make layers I just color coordinate the pins as I find that a little easier to follow when I’m on my trip!

    Hi, do you know how to use the car direction in each layer?

    • @SheRunTheWorld
      @SheRunTheWorld  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi! Honestly I never use the layers, but I’d imagine you’d just click on the layer in your app and the directions would automatically pop up
      But it’s super easy to not have any layers, just all pins, and when you’re in the car just click the next pin and get directions! I do that with walking all the time :)

    • @christianachris9197
      @christianachris9197 8 місяців тому

      @SheRunTheWorld Thanks for responding :) For some reason, I created one layer and I could add directions there and I chose car, but since I am doing a massive trip ( 3 countries with our van and 2 brompton bikes ) I thought to create diferent layers for each city, a layer for each big city with the directions if I will visit lots of sightseeing by bike. I'm not sure why I create a layer and have no option to select any transport, but the only option is to draw a line, which I think is silly. Maybe I am over complicating and should not bother with directions🤔.
