Apple Maps tells you which lane to be in and generally gives more context based directions which I prefer. Google Maps will tell you “in 500 feet turn right” and Apple Maps will say “go past this light and turn right at the next one”. In busy areas that context is really helpful.
I enjoy haptic feedback from my Apple Watch when using Apple Maps. If you don’t have Carplay with a screen pulled up, It’s super handy at letting you know that your turn or exit is coming up. Plus, my Apple Watch talks to me to let me know about an upcoming turn or exit so for me, I prefer Apple Maps.
Google Maps on my Android phone, using a Google Pixel watch does this for me as well. I usually drive with voice navigation set to "Alerts Only", so I do enjoy the vibration from the watch reminding me about an upcoming exit it turn!
I'm perfectly fine with apple mapps, and I actually prefer apple's implementation of street view. I also like the fact Apple Maps is simpler and cleaner
That's one thing that kind of really pulled me towards apple. They really know how to make some nice UI. Considering how far they've come from maps in the last few years, they will eventually become a no-brainer for maps

Don't try it, you will understand why third party apps are miserable on iPhones, limited access to the navigation system 😂. The experience is quite different to what you have on android.
Yes I'm still using Google Maps in 2024. I find it to be extremely useful and reliable, not only when using navigation or commuting, but also when searching for businesses information, and user ratings, photos, videos and comments. Also the street view is very useful, and the live view feature is a must, especially when traveling!
Even though I like using it, there's been a few times when bike riding it will tell me my route is mostly flat, but I still run into a moderate hill when it should've just told me 'moderate hill' so I would know there was only one hill and everything was flat. Also I wish Google Maps and Earth would just combine app abilities
Living in LA, I drive everywhere, and with the chaotic highways and mergers of a large city, the ability to get timely voice directions is so so important. It’s the only thing I care about, so Apple Maps is my go to. After several instances of Google failing to tell me I’m turning until I’m literally already at the intersection, moving at a high speed with a ton of other cars surrounding me, so I miss my turn… I’m never turning back unless Google does something to address this
As a UK truck driver I prefer Apple maps I find it friendlier to use and the reroutes are definitely better than Google maps. I recently saw a TikTok with some beautiful remote Scottish beaches. Researched every one of them and Apple failed to recognise several of them where as Google found every one of them. I would love to see Apple maps continue to improve & add bridge heights and weight limits please Tim.
You mentioned the Waze features. They are active in Google Maps. The icon on the left side of the screen during navigation opens the Waze issue reporting window at the bottom of the map. One other thing to consider in the comparison is the supported devices. Google Maps can be used on both Android and Apple devices, while Apple Maps is only available on Apple devices.
Biggest issue I have with AM (which I use on daily basis) is that they are a lot less reactive on changes (road closure, taxi lanes, change of direction …) leading to really funky situations
I used to use Apple Maps but I use Google maps now because Google maps has gotten much better with routes. Google maps routes used to be horrible where I live especially in the city but now it’s the same as Apple Maps so I just use Google maps because I like the UI better and it has Spotify integration
I love Apple Maps for its simplicity. It's so much easier to understand than Google Maps. +1 for the contextual audio directions. Looking forward to the new maps updates they're rolling out in the UK.

Excellent comparison. One note though - you mentioned that Google allows you to great and share groups of favorite places - Apple also lets you create guides and share those with friends and family. Although not editable in a shared manner by all, I create guides for every city we will visit on our trips and share them with friends and family we are traveling with. Very useful!
I personally use waze, it also tells me where the cops are and gets updated road info like accidents, traffic, and road closures a lot faster than google maps does
I have used both in my car. I think the android auto and Google maps does pretty good with using my voice to find a destination. I also find that Android auto detects and connects a bit earlier which can be annoying if trying to use the house wifi whilst in the driveway.
I use both. I find google maps 100x better at finding restaurants/activites etc with a way more reliable review system and i enjoy navigating better on apple maps while driving.
I’ve used both quite a lot the past few years and I have to say for driving Apple Maps is really increasing the gap on Google. The lane guidance and road classification on Google maps has been quite poor recently in the west midlands. It mistakes a lot of roads for footpaths and forces you to take unnecessary route arounds. Apple maps’ road data has overtaken Google maps at least in this part of the country
I was going to use Waze full time, but a recent trip left me with a blank map and no directions in the middle of a town! I called up Google Maps as I have the whole of the UK saved for offline use. Can't even consider apple maps an option on an Android phone, oe am I missing something?

I don't like that Google maps often starts with North-East-West-South directions as if I have a compass in front of my eyes. Especially confusing when I'm in a complex parking lot and just trying to get out to a particular main road. I want Left or Right.
Not necessarily. It usually gets the ETA spot on, even on 60-mile journeys partially in peak traffic. Must say I use California far too often as a swear-word, though! E.g. snow = a complete unknown!
I think me personally Apple Maps is better because a lot of times it says at the next stop sign or light turn left or right onto this or that road. And I noticed google maps shows when you’re approaching a stop sign or traffic light but it doesn’t say what Apple Maps does
Just found your channel, and this was really interesting, given that I used to be Apple everything (used to work for them), but switched to Android/Windows around 8 years ago, but am now back in the Apple world (somewhat begrudgingly)... For driving, no app I’ve used beats Waze, though I’ve never used it to drive outside of the US. Being able to get traffic updates and even add closed roads and unlisted places in the app is great. I use Google Maps to get around the trains in Japan. It’s great for knowing which stations or platforms are closed, and for finding my way around the massive Tokyo Station.
Apple Maps in the US wins for me. It is prettier, it makes it clear where to turn, watch integration, police and red light camera information, etc. it does need much better searching especially outside the US. In Taiwan, it is nearly impossible to find a place using Chinese characters even if you copy and paste it.
I definitely prefer Apple Maps, especially the interface. I personally find it way easier to understand especially when using public transport. With that said, google maps if far ahead when it comes to their overall database. Like some places I can’t find on Apple Maps but it comes right up on google maps. Apple definitely has a lot of improving to do.
In Australia, Google Maps is dog water. especially in outback where mobile service is very patchy, Apple maps has very up to date street view for my area where google hasn't even gone down the main road. xD All in all Apple Maps is a W here :)
You know, Google's been in the maps game for a lot longer than Apple has, so it's really not all that surprising that their Maps app on the iPhone is just way better than Apple Maps. Google Maps is just so much more detailed and full-featured, you know? It's like they've had a lot more time to refine and perfect it. And somehow, even though it's a third-party app, Google Maps just integrates really nicely with iOS and CarPlay. It's almost like it was made for the Apple ecosystem or something. I find myself using Google Maps all the time because it's just such a smoother, more polished navigation experience. Apple Maps has come a long way, but it's still got nothing on Google when it comes to maps and directions.
I find Apple’s voice navigation guidance to be so much more natural. Saying to “turn right at the next traffic light onto [street]” is way nicer than “in 200 metres, turn right onto [street]”. Providing distances can be useful in certain circumstances, and Apple sometimes will, but it’s usually so much easier to comprehend and understand as you’re driving. Although Google’s public transport is undoubtedly better than Apple’s, I don’t care for either of them. I rather use the Transit app (green and white icon). It’s definitely quality over quantity, being in a limited number of cities, but that number is constantly growing and it provides truly superb public transport navigation.
In Paris Apple Maps sometimes has issues with house numbers and sends you to the other side of the road. That was the reason for me to switch back to Google Maps.
I switched to Apple maps around two years ago while doing Uber eats. It was more precise finding houses, for example if I was in a neighborhood it will point out if the house was on the left or the right, that way you can only start looking to one side of the road.
It is important for people to remember that the features of these apps vary depending on what country you're in. I'm in Australia, idk about the amount you get in America, but the amount of options to report incidents is less in Google Maps than Waze despite both being owned by the same company now. Google Maps has only 7 options, while waze has 12 with multiple sub options inside.
I use both Google Maps + Apple Maps. I know each of their strengths. I almost always use Apple Maps / Carplay for driving directions. Everything else is Google Maps.
If I’m in Europe, Google Maps. If I’m back in my California home or back at Japan, Apple. GUI and design wise, hands down Apple Maps but Apple Maps also has a huge downside where it is dependent on how strong of a presence Apple has on that specific region/country.
I had to use Google Maps on a work phone for a government job where I was going to hundreds of houses a day and honestly I had a lot of problems. Either it would put me on the wrong street or the wrong block or sometimes it couldn’t even find the address I was standing in front of. I ended up having to use my own phone with Apple Maps 98% of the time. I think it would be fantastic if Apple were to put their Maps app in the Google Play store.
idk about any other countries but in my country half the locations i searched does not even show up on apple maps even though they exist and are quite big too
I largely agree. The actual driving, especially voice directions, heavily favors Apple. But the routes, live updates, reviews, finding new places, interacting with information, etc. I favor Google. So I’ll plan out just about everything from Google Maps and then click Apple Maps to just get there. I just made the switch a week ago when I kept making wrong turns into exits that were close to each other or forks in the road where Google told me too late.
I think Google Maps deserved one very significant point for being available on both platforms, wheras Apple Maps is only available on ios. There are several reasons that keep me away from Apple, but one in particular is clear intention to lock you in on exclusive apps and services.
I’m an Apple groupie! You can get weather on Apple Maps by zooming in on a location. Maybe google has that too not sure. Love Apple’s spoken directions, gives you plenty of fair warning!
I'm from Bulgaria. I had an iPhone 13 before, and now I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. On the iPhone, I used Apple Maps, but it was missing a lot of small street names in the second-largest city, Plovdiv. I fixed this by uninstalling and installing Google Maps. So, I don't know about the USA, but in Europe, Google Maps is far superior.
Haven’t tested it on both to compare but one thing I find Google is lacking is the information needed for which lane to stay in when on a motorway. You look at the map and it shows go forwards so if you stay in the left lane on some 4 lane motorways that split into 2 lanes you can get stuck and have to come off. Might just me be and maybe need to have the voice activated for more information.

I use Apple Maps because I only use map for navigation so I don’t care about the other features. Apple Maps is simply better for giving directions due to more clearly explaining the turns and, like Pete said, giving you the heads up sooner. And in the US it seems most people have iPhones so traffic info seems about equal between Google and Apple. I do wish we could pinch to zoom in and out on CarPlay like we can on Android Auto.
I disagree with the parking feature. Google does this automatically too. Everytime I used Apple Maps something went wrong. I hate navigating with apple maps. Only positive thing is that it looks cool, especially in the 3D Mode
One more thing is google maps lets you download a map. Not sure if apple does but this is very useful if travelling in old tunnels where you dont get get data or even out in the bush
Apple Maps show all the stop signs and where the traffic lights are. Game changer when you drive in an area you're unfamiliar with. Makes navigation much easier.
I switched to Apple last year and have tried their app on 2 road trips. It worked fine for a straight shot but searching for a fuel station while on the road was a major pain. It’s less that I prefer Google maps and more that I’ve used it since it kicked Mapquest to the curb so I know all the ins and outs.
I use both. Apple Maps looks better, traffic lights are marked in my country - that's a big plus. BUT, the most important profit google maps has is the database. To find a small shop, a doctor or an institution is better with google In Germany. Apple.
Google Maps puts my house halfway down the road from where it is. Apple Maps doesn’t. I used to use android but have been on iPhone for a few years now, slowly moving from Google Maps to Apple Maps (plus Apple Maps shows junctions more accurately I find, I’ve seen several instances where Google will just have 4 blank lines next to each other on the map view whereas Apple Maps will show the actual marking on the road)
Also Apple and Google Maps is a little different depending on which phone software you’re using. Like Apple Maps on an android phone has its limitations compared to iOS and vice versa
I use both, Apple Maps for navigation, and Google maps for looking up places, hours, reviews, etc. I find they work best like that. Apple Maps in my experience is wayyy better than Google for navigation, and Google maps just blows Apple Maps out of the water for information abt places. For anyone curious I live in southern Europe but in a major city area, so if you live somewhere more remote this could vary.

I use both but trying to use AM more. But what I miss - or I just don’t know how to do it- is searching and adding targets along my way. I travel quite often across Germany and I would love to check which fast food for example is next to the highway without zooming in. GM can filter those easily.
I’m and American living and working in Germany. I travel everyday for work and Apple Maps is what I use. Google maps gets confused by the buildings and almost always shows me on the wrong street.
With android auto, you can use your Google assistant to reply to messages or open your garage door. No need to use apps or typing. Just press the button on your steering wheel.
Honestly I don't agree on the public transport part. Apple Maps gave me usually far better recommendations in Taipei, Madrid or even Barcelona you mentioned. It doesn't have real-time transit in Gdańsk (my city) so I can't compare it there, which is a shame because we've had the real-time transit feed for a long time and they could have integrated it.

That's what you experienced when you reviewed it, so it is what it is. However, That never happens to me when I use it. 🤷♂ @ 6:31 You faulted Google for some cars enforcing a safety feature of not texting while driving? Also, the microphone icon was clearly visible for you to speak what you were trying to type. I wouldn't say Google won that category, but a tie is definitely in order. So, the way I see it, Google 8 - Apple 5.
So like Apple when driving places because it’s safer and better at getting me places. Plus if I tap my iPhone screen when lock it pop the map up. But when I’m looking up traffic map or looking up a place I love Google.
I would say I generally use Apple Maps when driving and specifically need directions and then use Google Maps any other time. If I’m route planning ahead of time, I almost always use Google Maps.
You know what I really miss from Apple maps after I switched to Android? The possibility to send those automated SMS messages of my ETA and when I am close by, to a contact. Google maps has real time sharing which I really don't like and I find it "too much" and I have to enable some more permissions so I disable it. SMS is so nice. I googled around with no success , if by any chance anybody has an idea , please drop me a line! Thanks!
in India too, Google Maps is much better in terms of traffic calculation, and overall updating of city routes, road closures, etc. So far, the only positives for Apple Maps have been around the sync with Apple Watch and integrating with lock screen for directions and Siri to call out ETA, etc.
country matters too, especially in third world countries you're bound to use google maps cause it just works and most ppl end up buying android phones since iphones are out of reach for most lower middle class folks.
outside USA google maps is the ultimate winner. I mean, apple maps is 12 years old, and it still doesn’t provide turn by turn direction on my country (Panama). they just don’t care to support all the markets.
I usually use Apple Maps or Waze, but one time I wanted to try out Google Maps. I always turn off Tolls no matter what application I use. When I used Google Maps and turned off Tolls, it took me straight through a Toll and got the invoice about a week later. 👎🏽
Google Maps has more audience interaction. I can find more reviews and pictures people are taking of places and restaurants and know exactly what to expect before entering. Apple Maps is connected to Yelp and no one goes on Yelp anymore.
I’ve lived in the same house for 27 years, Google maps still can’t find my house, never had issues with Apple Maps not finding any location that I needed to get to.

Oh yeah, the slow Wifi bugs me SO much on iPhone. Android is way faster to connect.

I've had the ability to report issues while driving and get notified of speeding cameras in Google Maps (US) for well over a year now?

I definitely prefer Apple Maps, especially the interface. I personally find it way easier to understand especially when using public transport. With that said, google maps if far ahead when it comes to their overall database. Like some places I can’t find on Apple Maps but it comes right up on google maps. Apple definitely has a lot of improving to do.
Google maps for me,hasn't got me lost yet.On a side note,how does someone lose track of their vehicle?That's always boggled me.
In Australia, Google Maps is dog water. especially in outback where mobile service is very patchy, Apple maps has very up to date street view for my area where google hasn't even gone down the main road. xD All in all Apple Maps is a W here :)

You know, Google's been in the maps game for a lot longer than Apple has, so it's really not all that surprising that their Maps app on the iPhone is just way better than Apple Maps. Google Maps is just so much more detailed and full-featured, you know? It's like they've had a lot more time to refine and perfect it. And somehow, even though it's a third-party app, Google Maps just integrates really nicely with iOS and CarPlay. It's almost like it was made for the Apple ecosystem or something. I find myself using Google Maps all the time because it's just such a smoother, more polished navigation experience. Apple Maps has come a long way, but it's still got nothing on Google when it comes to maps and directions.
I find Apple’s voice navigation guidance to be so much more natural. Saying to “turn right at the next traffic light onto [street]” is way nicer than “in 200 metres, turn right onto [street]”. Providing distances can be useful in certain circumstances, and Apple sometimes will, but it’s usually so much easier to comprehend and understand as you’re driving.
Although Google’s public transport is undoubtedly better than Apple’s, I don’t care for either of them. I rather use the Transit app (green and white icon). It’s definitely quality over quantity, being in a limited number of cities, but that number is constantly growing and it provides truly superb public transport navigation.
In Paris Apple Maps sometimes has issues with house numbers and sends you to the other side of the road. That was the reason for me to switch back to Google Maps.
I switched to Apple maps around two years ago while doing Uber eats. It was more precise finding houses, for example if I was in a neighborhood it will point out if the house was on the left or the right, that way you can only start looking to one side of the road.
It is important for people to remember that the features of these apps vary depending on what country you're in.
I'm in Australia, idk about the amount you get in America, but the amount of options to report incidents is less in Google Maps than Waze despite both being owned by the same company now.
Google Maps has only 7 options, while waze has 12 with multiple sub options inside.

I use both Google Maps + Apple Maps. I know each of their strengths. I almost always use Apple Maps / Carplay for driving directions. Everything else is Google Maps.

If I’m in Europe, Google Maps. If I’m back in my California home or back at Japan, Apple. GUI and design wise, hands down Apple Maps but Apple Maps also has a huge downside where it is dependent on how strong of a presence Apple has on that specific region/country.
I had to use Google Maps on a work phone for a government job where I was going to hundreds of houses a day and honestly I had a lot of problems. Either it would put me on the wrong street or the wrong block or sometimes it couldn’t even find the address I was standing in front of. I ended up having to use my own phone with Apple Maps 98% of the time. I think it would be fantastic if Apple were to put their Maps app in the Google Play store.

idk about any other countries but in my country half the locations i searched does not even show up on apple maps even though they exist and are quite big too

I largely agree. The actual driving, especially voice directions, heavily favors Apple. But the routes, live updates, reviews, finding new places, interacting with information, etc. I favor Google. So I’ll plan out just about everything from Google Maps and then click Apple Maps to just get there. I just made the switch a week ago when I kept making wrong turns into exits that were close to each other or forks in the road where Google told me too late.
I used to Google Maps, but switched to Apple Maps after the Google Maps UI update, I just don’t like the look of it.
I liked using Apple Map in Japan where you take the train everywhere.
I think Google Maps deserved one very significant point for being available on both platforms, wheras Apple Maps is only available on ios.
There are several reasons that keep me away from Apple, but one in particular is clear intention to lock you in on exclusive apps and services.
I’m an Apple groupie! You can get weather on Apple Maps by zooming in on a location. Maybe google has that too not sure. Love Apple’s spoken directions, gives you plenty of fair warning!
I'm from Bulgaria. I had an iPhone 13 before, and now I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. On the iPhone, I used Apple Maps, but it was missing a lot of small street names in the second-largest city, Plovdiv. I fixed this by uninstalling and installing Google Maps. So, I don't know about the USA, but in Europe, Google Maps is far superior.
I'm in Venezuela. Google Maps works best here. However, my favorite is Waze. It gets more routes than Google Maps for some reason.
Haven’t tested it on both to compare but one thing I find Google is lacking is the information needed for which lane to stay in when on a motorway. You look at the map and it shows go forwards so if you stay in the left lane on some 4 lane motorways that split into 2 lanes you can get stuck and have to come off. Might just me be and maybe need to have the voice activated for more information.
Hi Pete, great review on both maps. I love using Google and Waze maps. However, it was confusing hearing you give more thumps up to Apple throughout the video but at the end saying; “clearly Google is the winner?”🤔 Ironically, because of your review I’m going to switch from Google to Apple mapping now knowing all the features from your review. I use Apple Maps because I only use map for navigation so I don’t care about the other features. Apple Maps is simply better for giving directions due to more clearly explaining the turns and, like Pete said, giving you the heads up sooner. And in the US it seems most people have iPhones so traffic info seems about equal between Google and Apple. I do wish we could pinch to zoom in and out on CarPlay like we can on Android Auto.

I disagree with the parking feature. Google does this automatically too. Everytime I used Apple Maps something went wrong. I hate navigating with apple maps. Only positive thing is that it looks cool, especially in the 3D Mode
One more thing is google maps lets you download a map. Not sure if apple does but this is very useful if travelling in old tunnels where you dont get get data or even out in the bush
i tried using apple a month ago, but when they still listed closed shops/gym for over 10 years ago, I deleted the app and went back to google maps.
Apple Maps show all the stop signs and where the traffic lights are. Game changer when you drive in an area you're unfamiliar with. Makes navigation much easier.
Saving places in a list is more streamlined on google maps and the icons are much easier to see for the spots you marked.
I switched to Apple last year and have tried their app on 2 road trips. It worked fine for a straight shot but searching for a fuel station while on the road was a major pain. It’s less that I prefer Google maps and more that I’ve used it since it kicked Mapquest to the curb so I know all the ins and outs.
I use both. Apple Maps looks better, traffic lights are marked in my country - that's a big plus. BUT, the most important profit google maps has is the database. To find a small shop, a doctor or an institution is better with google In Germany.

Google Maps puts my house halfway down the road from where it is. Apple Maps doesn’t. I used to use android but have been on iPhone for a few years now, slowly moving from Google Maps to Apple Maps (plus Apple Maps shows junctions more accurately I find, I’ve seen several instances where Google will just have 4 blank lines next to each other on the map view whereas Apple Maps will show the actual marking on the road)
Also Apple and Google Maps is a little different depending on which phone software you’re using. Like Apple Maps on an android phone has its limitations compared to iOS and vice versa

I use both, Apple Maps for navigation, and Google maps for looking up places, hours, reviews, etc. I find they work best like that. Apple Maps in my experience is wayyy better than Google for navigation, and Google maps just blows Apple Maps out of the water for information abt places. For anyone curious I live in southern Europe but in a major city area, so if you live somewhere more remote this could vary.

I very much prefer Apple Maps for the UI and privacy, and I think it has improved a lot in recent years… However, when looking up places, I still go to Google for the reviews. There simply are too few on Apple😑
I use both but trying to use AM more. But what I miss - or I just don’t know how to do it- is searching and adding targets along my way. I travel quite often across Germany and I would love to check which fast food for example is next to the highway without zooming in. GM can filter those easily.
I’m and American living and working in Germany. I travel everyday for work and Apple Maps is what I use. Google maps gets confused by the buildings and almost always shows me on the wrong street.
Actually Google does save your parking location automatically but it’s only for a certain amount of hours

With android auto, you can use your Google assistant to reply to messages or open your garage door. No need to use apps or typing. Just press the button on your steering wheel.
You can do the same with Siri
Honestly I don't agree on the public transport part. Apple Maps gave me usually far better recommendations in Taipei, Madrid or even Barcelona you mentioned. It doesn't have real-time transit in Gdańsk (my city) so I can't compare it there, which is a shame because we've had the real-time transit feed for a long time and they could have integrated it.

@ 3:31 You gave Apple a point because Google was late with its voice command. That's what you experienced when you reviewed it, so it is what it is. However, That never happens to me when I use it. 🤷♂
@ 6:31 You faulted Google for some cars enforcing a safety feature of not texting while driving? Also, the microphone icon was clearly visible for you to speak what you were trying to type. I wouldn't say Google won that category, but a tie is definitely in order.

So like Apple when driving places because it’s safer and better at getting me places. Plus if I tap my iPhone screen when lock it pop the map up. But when I’m looking up traffic map or looking up a place I love Google.

I would say I generally use Apple Maps when driving and specifically need directions and then use Google Maps any other time. If I’m route planning ahead of time, I almost always use Google Maps.
You know what I really miss from Apple maps after I switched to Android? The possibility to send those automated SMS messages of my ETA and when I am close by, to a contact. Google maps has real time sharing which I really don't like and I find it "too much" and I have to enable some more permissions so I disable it. SMS is so nice. I googled around with no success , if by any chance anybody has an idea , please drop me a line! Thanks!
I use Apple Maps. Because the last thing I want to do is give google my real time location data and my travel history.
in India too, Google Maps is much better in terms of traffic calculation, and overall updating of city routes, road closures, etc. So far, the only positives for Apple Maps have been around the sync with Apple Watch and integrating with lock screen for directions and Siri to call out ETA, etc.

country matters too, especially in third world countries you're bound to use google maps cause it just works and most ppl end up buying android phones since iphones are out of reach for most lower middle class folks.

I mean, apple maps is 12 years old, and it still doesn’t provide turn by turn direction on my country (Panama). they just don’t care to support all the markets.

I usually use Apple Maps or Waze, but one time I wanted to try out Google Maps. I always turn off Tolls no matter what application I use. When I used Google Maps and turned off Tolls, it took me straight through a Toll and got the invoice about a week later. 👎🏽
I use Apple Maps for navigation mainly because of the integration with Apple Watch. Google maps wins hands down for public transportation.

Apple Maps sent me on a ridiculous 15-minute motorway loop in Copenhagen today. Lost it just like Nokia Maps occasionally used to do back in the day.
Google Maps has more audience interaction. I can find more reviews and pictures people are taking of places and restaurants and know exactly what to expect before entering. Apple Maps is connected to Yelp and no one goes on Yelp anymore.
I’ve lived in the same house for 27 years, Google maps still can’t find my house, never had issues with Apple Maps not finding any location that I needed to get to.
