Nothing irks me more than seeing a review that complains about packages being damaged or late- that issue is with UPS or FedEx, had nothing to do with the product. Its also irritating to see “just got it, looks ok- haven’t used it yet”. How is this helpful.
I do think package damage can be a brand issue, tho. I can tell just by looking that ipsy knows their shipping process nearly guarantees damage, for instance, and I think it's ok to note if the box was obviously packed badly or it happens all the time. When I get the occasional damaged product in my CVS order, I never put that in a review, bcuz it's obviously either the shipper or the weather. But I do not feel bad making other ipsy customers aware that they don't even follow USPS guidelines. I got a full refund, even the undamaged, that they violated the federal rules AND potentially exposed other shipping customers to an allergen (unsealed product blew up and soaked thru. Even if the brand uses a 3rd party fulfillment center, they choose it & know that you get what you pay for.
I also hate when people buy something that is a mini version and talk about how small it is in the review. Like duh what did you expect
@@montananerd8244Ipsy is the worst I have gotten many refunds from them over the years. Why o don’t use them anymore. Also sometimes it’s better to go to the brand site and buy from them then it is to buy from a third party. Like Huda and Natasha always ships super fast and nothing is ever damaged
Same! I’ve seen ones like “seems like something I’ll love can’t wait to try it” and I’m like…nobody asked!! 😩🤣
Omg yes! Review isn’t for the shipping company 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I definitely *do not* appreciate reviews from people who haven't tried the product. It's not helpful.
Mini brushes? For $200? Wild.
Crazy...not even real hair!! Paying for the name!!! Should be $20
That was the sale price, they're $350
@@Anna-Rose-WHAT?!?!?!?! 😭😭😭😭
I wish Sephora would take the items off that are sold out!!!!😡
Yep, that's why I stopped shopping with them...only on rare occasions. Idk why they think it's ok to leave 100's of products up that aren't available.
@@anh7807Exactly, like what’s the point ⁉️
@@mydailybeauty461 they're too lazy to take it down. I hate their website.
10000% it’s annoying!
Their software engineers can see all the people clicking on items and not buying it because it’s out of stock.
Completely baffles me no one is keeping an eye on the metrics.
I once had 10+ items I really wanted and all were out of stock!
Ulta and Nordstrom ended up getting my money.
At this point, I guess Sephora not really interested in making me happy anymore.
Sephora has a serious review problem. EVERY new product has hundreds of 5 star reviews from influenster and those incentive programs. Im sure theyre not all lying but I’ve literally never seen an incentivized review less than 5 stars. Paid reviews, reviews from ppl who never tried the product… all of it sucks. Lots of straight up fake reviews too. Ive caught it on a certain fragrance. 20 some reviews on a new product all using the exact same language. I just want a review from real people who spent their money and have no reason to lie.
The perfume brand im talking about is dedcool. They dont even have the fragrance (it was number 02) on sephora anymore that had their own fake reviews on. It smells like ass anyway
I know what you mean. But I realized you can use the filter option and remove those reviews 👍🏼
@@nadiaknow its the principle. It still drives the overall rating up
That’s not a problem for them. They encourage it.
Exactly why I wait a few months before buying a new perfume because longevity is so important to me.
I think it's hilarious and annoying to see something in the "sale" section at Sephora, but it's 1 or 2 dollars off. Why?? 😅
I, wholeheartedly, agree with this comment. A $5 discount, really. What a deal. Sales have been a trigger for me in the past. Well, thanks Sephora. This one was a breeze.
One of the Ultas in my area has things on "clearance" for full freaking price!! It's laughable, really
I saw an item that was literally one cent cheaper. It's still listed.
For 231 real dollars you could get some Japanese brushes that are literally art. Bad on WA. 😮
I'm so out of the loop. I honestly hadn't heard of almost half of the brands mentioned here until now. I didn't even know what a Stanley cup was until two weeks ago. My 10 year old still had to explain it to me because when I first heard Stanley cup, I assumed it was something to do with hockey. 😂
You are living right! Influencing has gotten totally out of control. I had to stop the insanity!
😂😂😂😂 the Stanley cup/hockey thing is hilarious 😂
If you live in the Snow Belt, the tarte maracuja blush has been a skinsaver for me! Im not crazy about the formula, BUT on subzero days, it is much prettier than aquaphor on my cheeks. The combo of oil & wax works great as a protective layer against windburn & chapping. Also recommend the tinted Lanolips options. Now i got my tarte blush in boxy, so it was only about $7, i wouldnt pay $18, but if you are outdoors a lot & do like the shades & texture, it has been a real trooper this winter.
I also love the tinted Lanolips product. 💋
Some brands are crazy with their pricing on synthetic brushes. Rae Morris is charging more for her synthetic brushes then the was for her natural hair ones 👀. Like, I would not pay luxury prices for synthetic bristles. No way.
I agree. Im not paying $100+ on synthetic brushes.
Agreed. When Tom Ford changed from natural to synthetic brushes the prices stayed the same and I stopped buying them.
But you'd pay lots of money to support those Chinese tortuous mink and squirrel and goat farms where they slaughter the animals and strip their hair/fur for the brushes?
@@virginiav.1172 Yeah I remember that. Then it got out that their brushes were made by Hakuhodo and everybody went there instead.
@@virginiav.1172
They do that with alot of things & then charge you the same. They think ppl are idiots!!
Even if they were Japanese natural hair brushes, the Westman Atelier brushes would be too expensive. You could get four comparable Japanese brushes for about $160 total.
As someone who lives in Japan as has a bag with around 35 of those brushes, if you come here and shop for them, you probably could chop a third of that price
@@carolinamartins5653 I want to do that someday. Even if it's just to try brands that aren't in the US. Skincare too.
Also super jealous of people with nice bathtubs!! I always want to do bath bombs or nice oil soaks 😊
My dad has a massive tub laying around but it still needs to be installed into the bathroom😭
He is fully renovating his bathroom (has been for a few years as he does everything himself) and is currently on the putting the tiles on the walls phase
@@lukaseldenrust2637 That will be so great!
The Norvina products took me back! I remember when the first one launched and all the ABH pr drama was going on . . . I can't believe how quickly online makeup trends have changed.
STOP I was literally scrolling this sale last night and I came across that weird Inc.Redible highlighter and I thought to myself Lauren NEEDS to make a makeup no one wants video just to show this!! I am so glad you posted this. 😂
Yah clearly no one wants it, they should make it $1 or free like she said.
They should stick with nail polish.
I used to work at Sephora and usually things go on sale if the brand and/or Ulta has a sale to try and compete for the consumers interested in those products
Those brushes better cure my rosacea and my psoriasis for that price!
Just have to say I LOVE this series!!!! And the little “boops” when you show the products 😂😂
Tarte is basically Too Faced.
I say this ALL THE TIME lol, it's so true
I’m so grateful to have a bathtub because I’ve never had a nice, relaxing shower. Every shower I’ve ever had has felt rushed and like I can never get the right temperature. I’ll take a long bath with a bath bomb for you. 🖤
This🙏
I hate when people leave a bad review on something they didn't try because they think it's too expensive. Maybe the price isn't an issue for someone else, and they want to see actual reviews from other customers who tried it.
Generally speaking that's very true. But, for some products it makes sense. The mini brushes really are far too expensive. There's full sized hand made brushes that cost less.
I know what you mean about the bathtub!!! I'm moving again and no 1 on my list was for my new place to have a tub. Theres actually a few good things this time, an armani luminous silk highlighter, some maison louis marie candles, perfumes and a diffuser, some briogeo haircare, kulfi cream shadows and that buy 1 get one 50% off all full size mascaras. Most of it is trash though lol. The best way to find the good stuff is to go to the sale section and filter by brand
I don't know if this applies to the make up for ever powder reformulation but with lots of products removing preservatives and having a much shorter shelf life, we may see good products going on sale if they didn't sell enough in time.
It's hilarious seeing people complain about preservatives (when they aren't harmful anyways), then complain when the product goes bad so quickly and they have to repurchase.
@@AccidentallyOnPurpose pretty much anything "clean" lol. Kosas- concealers start to smell like old bread, but I love the formula. Damn chemophobia is making products worse
Give me all the preservatives. Clean makeup is not a good thing. It goes bad well before it should, I believe Kosas had an eyeliner that went bad before they even released them. How many people got infections from using it not realizing it had gone bad before it left the warehouse potentially. And with the prices of makeup, it better last until I have used every last bit of it.
@@sumlem same. I keep buying the Rose Inc. concealer even though it keeps going off before I can use it up. I really need to just stop because they're actually getting me to buy the product more frequently. It's sneaky. I don't even believe half the "clean" brands even believe in it. They just know it's a method of getting people to restock more often.
I accidentally bought a "clean makeup" product from the Sephora line, it was an eyeshadow palette that would not go on the eye, I tried brushes, fingers, and silicone brushes. Nothing worked. Brought it back and the Sephora employee said that no one liked the palette and that was why it was clearanced. And it had earthy smell. Never again. I want all the preservatives. I have eyeshadow from the 80s that still smells and preforms just fine. I've found that as long as I disinfect my pressed products after every use, I use 99% isopropyl alcohol, I never have had a product go bad. Now seeing companies not adding preservatives has me thinking about not purchasing anything new, not that I need any new makeup, I have a Sephora stores worth.
I’m thinking the makeup forever might be on sale because I believe I got an email from them saying they are having a 30% off sale right now and I know sometimes Sephora will do a sale too when brands are doing one
*As soon* as I got that Sephora sale text this morning I was like "Make up no one wants!" lol You are in the zeitgeist
Usually I absolutely hate when people review products like it's a comment section 'Just bought it, can't wait to try it' is the worst version of this. But I guess the price is part of the product and might actually be worth putting in there. As a consumer I would prefer to see 'not worth the price' from someone who has actually used it. I guess that's why I watch yt beauty videos! Lol
Those people remind me that common sense isn't so common. They're probably the type to clap when a plane lands or movie ends
We see this types of reviews, because the company sends an email asking if you are happy with the purchase a day or 2 after you've bought it, sometimes before the product has arrived.
@@kikiTHEalien ok, but anyone with some working brain cells should know that you have to receive and try the product first before reviewing it.
@@Halo2glitchlover22 Not really. These emails usually contaon questio s about the shopping experience, including the delivery. That's why we get the "I havent received the product yet" reviews- most people don't realize that their reply is being posted on the website as a review for the product.
I need NEED you to get the baddies got the gold highlighter just to try it… COME ON! Take one for the team 😂
“Not me looking like a continental soldier” I screamed even though I think she meant colonial 😂 she’s always so funny
I think she meant continental as in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War
have you never heard the kids' song "do your ears hang low"?
Sephora was huge into fragrance when they first had their huge expansion. A lot of people who never even glanced at high end makeup went regularly to the ginormous perfume section. It's definitely on a 10-15 year cycle. Celeb fragrance brands were also exploding at that time. I think Sephora just adapts to the zeitgeist, they're experts now at changing their inventory very quickly. I expect their next big change, and one of many stores, will be locking up inventory & having ppl request products via kiosk. Between the kids & organized crime shoplifting, we wont be given hands on access to goods much longer.
I suspected marketing changes too❤
The biggest change RN is the mass demotions of employees. Thousands of employees are losing benefits. It's actually so shitty
The hair gloss from BREAD is on sale and it is great on my fine, colored hair. I like it a bit better than the Ghost Oil from VERB because it has a light scent. Both don’t weigh the hair down
I have tried the chill pills and really like them. I mean I'm a pharmacist so someone initially gave them to me as a gift. But I really like them! It's a really nice relaxing scent, the oils leave your skin nice and soft, and even at the regular price, they work out to $5 each. Not a bad price when you compare to something like Lush.
You’re a voice of reason in the beauty space. You’d be great working in Marketing or Consumer Protection lol Random opinion.
Theres a popular Quora post from a guy who is a synthetic brush manufacturer out of China and he says that the high-end brands and super cheap brands all come from the same assembly line. When you think about it, nylon is nylon. You need specific amounts of specific materials combined together in order to call it nylon. So I don’t understand how a brand could claim their nylon brushes are better or different from another brands nylon brushes.
The Caliray mascara is my all time fave! Its tubing and gorgeous.
It's also one of my favorite tubing mascaras! So good. 💛
YESS!! One of my faves, I just love that it doesn't smudge at all.
I was going to say it’s the Mascara also. Very good
Yesss I’m a die hard fan now
Yes I love it!
I have the makeup forever cream contour palette. I use it for travel makeup when my spray tan fades so I can color match by mixing the shades to adjust for whatever my spray tan has faded to for that day.
I get so excited when i get notified of one of your videos. I literally stop what I’m dong or watching and put you on! I really like your delivery of things. You go girl!
I HATE when people leave reviews and they haven’t even tried the product. It makes me roll my eyes so hard. I wish there were verified reviews only from people who actually purchased.
There's a "verified reviews only" tab, but it's annoying to have to search for them that way in the first place
Just in time! I started going through the sale to see if anything was a must have. Thank you for this.
Great honest low-down on these products Lauren. Thanks!
The Norvina palettes are actually incredible. I love them! I did wait until they were 50% or more off.
Me, too. The only large palette I didn’t get was Norvina 3, just way too many warm tones for my personal liking.
I have the mini yellow one and I really like it. The large ones are decent but nothing amazaing.
I love them too!! I do use them more for play vs work, etc. But they are so fun.
Great video! I was just looking at their sale this morning and some of those things have been on there a very long time. Absolutely agree with your reviews❤
SO EXCITED!! Love this video series!!
Yay!! ❤️😊❤️
That milk flex foundation sticks are SO GOOD. It is a gorgeous finish - nice coverage but still looks like skin. I use one as a contour stick and it's PERFECTION
I have the tarte cream blush and it's stunning. Sheered out it's the perfect flush. Built up it's that almost neon pink cheek that i am not ready to let go of.
Right when I saw this sale popped up, I wanted to message you about it. 🥰🤣 seeing the items on sale, I assume ABH discontinued the Norvina line. I also wonder if Sephora is dropping Melt since all Melt products are half off which is more than most of the other sale items.
I purchased the Retro palette (I was incentivized with 500 extra points) and a Danessa VIsion something foundation/concealer hybrid. The reviews seemed legit. I have no problem returning items I don’t enjoy back to Sephora
I purchased retro too!
Thank you for your input. Appreciate you and your labor.
I did pick up the Tarte Big Wgo palette and I really like it. Great cool colors for spring.
The simihaze stuff just looks like the kids makeup I use to get when I was little
something about your videos are better than all ive come acoss you are so charismatic and informative and funny ❤❤❤
I would love to have that MUFE palette if i could put my own shades. A foundation, color corrector, blush, highlight, contour & bronzer..
Ive seen the Retro palette pop up on ipsy shop for 25 bucks. A couple years ago i would have snagged that super quick. But i already own every other burgandy palette 🎨 lol 😅
Thanks I love your honesty
I cannot tell you how excited I get when I see a makeup no one wants video on my feed!
I was checking for an LMB upload just yesterday!
The make up forever palette would be good if you self tan though
I picked up the Calliray. I love palettes like that. They're so easy for a quick vacation look.
This is my favorite series😅 More people need to do these!!
What I think is under rated is the Dr. Dennis Gross plump and repair treatment. I bought this for 45.00 about 2 months ago and it’s a large amount. I use it all day/every day. Love it. It’s the smoothest lip treatment I have ever used. I love it!!! Wish it was on sale as I would stock up for sure!
I love this series :)
Your skin and makeup are so beautiful 😍
Omg I miss having a bath so much. I can relate on the not having a "soaking" bath. As soon as I saw the bath in my apartment I gave away my bath stuff.
Your makeup is so pretty in this vid!
Oooooo I LOVE these videos 💚
Same!!! I am such a bath girl!!! Some day I'm gonna have a bath again 😢 you will too girl ❤❤❤
Love your hair fully slicked back like this! It really makes your eyes pop!
I swear if Make Up For Ever is reformulating that powder foundation again, I am going to lose it lol. But thanks to this video, I'm stocking up!
The only actual 50% off item I picked up is the Huda Silk liquid lip balm. I'm on my 3rd tube, and it's 1/3 gone! The amount of product in it is similar to sample sizes I get in the Ipsy bag, so even $10.50 for it is honestly on the higher side, but I really love it.
I also picked up the Herbivore Cloud Jelly, even though the discount wasn't as deep. I've used up 2 bottles of it in the past -- it sinks in super fast & leaves my skin feeling & looking refreshed and not like it has "product" on it.
I got the cream blush/highlight nightmare before christmas duo during this sale. Super excited!
Love these videos!! 💕😁
I love the Natasha Denona pallete. The “mod” color suits my eyelids perfectly.
I enjoy these videos 🤩
Not the continental solider cut 😂😂
But can she throw it over her shoulder?
If you haven’t tried the Cali ray mascara it’s a must!!
In the first few seconds of the video I thought “Lauren, did you forget your earrings?” 😂 You look beautiful either way, of course 💛 Always so happy to see you upload! 🎉
Also-you should buy the ouai bath bombs and treat yourself to a staycation in a big hotel bathtub 🛁🩵
Not me leaving the video to go get those nightmare before Christmas palettes! Thanks for the heads-up
You’re exactly spot on, what a joke , I’ll have to view your old videos ❤enjoying the Scent Sundays on this channel …. 🎉
Wish this was an hour long. I love these videos! 😂
Yeah the ND retro has been in the Ipsy sale a few times for 25.00. Same with the retro glam.
The Too Faced lipgloss is so strong!! I bought this exact one and applied it over the lip line which ig you’re not supposed to do- it gave me a terrible heat blister. It’s been over a month that I did this and the heat blister is STILL on my lips. It’s small now but still there 🥲
I wish I’d realized the Makeup For Ever powder foundation was on sale before the lightest shade was sold out!😭 It’s the only powder foundation that works for my dry af skin. I’m 42 & honestly never got into the dewy skin revolution, I’m still stuck in 2016 lol
Also, I feel your pain about having a bad bathtub. I grew up in an old house with a huge, steel clawfoot tub…you could SLEEP in that thing😩 I didn’t know how good I had it until decades after it was gone.
Can you do a tutorial on this makeup look? So pretty❤❤❤❤
I was happy to see the Iconic London Brow gel is still there, picking that up again! Also, looks like Rose Inc might be leaving Sephora because all of their products at seem to be on the sale page now. This is how RMS transitioned out too.
I actually really liked the makeup forever powder foundation. I have dry skin and normally don’t like powder foundation because of that but loved this one.
Awesome video!
I am always surprised to get glow recipe in boxycharm BUT i think they use a different strategy with the boxes & some sales. They know they have a strong brand identity & a lot of influencers are big fans. They know that if they provide a low cost access point to their products, that then these new customers will start to identify as glow recipe people (esp if it works well ofc), and that combination of a customer feeling satisfied with quality & associated with popular influencers with a particular perspective is a very powerful combo. I was relieved when the brand did nothing special for me, i could feel the parasocial pull, even when influencers like lauren & james welsh actively try not to overinfluence. Glow Recipe understands who they are in the market & they have some brilliant strategists on their team.
I bought a trio of those mini ABH palettes a couple years ago from ABH website on a very similar discount. They’re fun, generally pigmented as you’d expect from pressed pigment, but I have to admit I partially wanted it just for the packaging of that vaporwave looking one lol
❤❤😂Not me over hear looking like a little continental soldier....I died! Your to funny!
The Natasha Denona Retro palette is my all-time favorite of hers, and I own at least 15 of her palettes. I still have my original Retro, but I recently bought a back up, too. I know that at first glance, it looks like a berry-toned palette, but it is actually one of the best NEUTRAL palettes I own. There are some great neutral shades in there, and I do complete looks with it that don’t have any berry/plum tones at all. It is gorgeous. If you can still get it on sale, I would scoop it up ASAP.
I remember setting an alarm and running to the corner of the store I worked at that had cell reception to order the champagne pop highlighter 😂
The Caliray Primer is excellent… it was recommended by one of my UA-camr make up artist, and I gave it a try and I really like it.
Idk what it is but CaliRay feels like the "Sugar Rush" of Urban Decay, even though they aren't but that's the vibes
I also want to add the _best_ lip plumpers I've found are the Sephora brand ones with the red caps, they are my ride or die and are like $13 each so so so good
Sugar Rush is from Tarte, not Urban Decay. 🙂
@@farashahanem I know, I said it FEELS like the "Sugar Rush" of Urban Decay meaning Caliray would be to Urban Decay as Sugar Rush is to Tarte
I was a huge Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara fan. When I ran out of all my backups (😭) I purchased one of those Sephora mascara boxes, thinking I was going to use the coupon for a full size of the Item Beauty mascara (which everyone was raving about at the time). Instead I fell absolutely in love with Caliray's mascara. So. Good.
Those Norvina palettes are the small ones. I wasn't sure if that was clarified. Thanks for this video. Very appreciated because I've been scrolling the sale section for a hot minute.
I'm totally with you about Tarte's Amazonian clay line. Particularly the Amazonian clay blushes. I probably own eight different ones that all work for me and I choose to use them over others that I have because I know that the color will stay true all day long and not fade away. I don't know what it is about blushes that fade halfway through the day but these don't. And regarding Calliray, it would seem that their hero product is the come hell or high water mascara have you tried it
The Melt palettes are to me companion palettes to another palette. You need more shades to make a complete look!
Your skin looks so good! What foundation did you use?
I got the Natasha denona retro palette from Ipsy for $3.50 on add on day. I was quite happy!!
Could you please make a video on how so many reviews are incentivized???? It seems that Sephora has all the money in the world to hand out free products for reviews while continuing to rise the prices at the expense of the customers… it seems around holidays they increase prices so getting 10-20% off doesn’t make a good deal since you’re still paying what you used to pay. I haven’t seen anyone discuss this yet. Thaanks
I actually got the mini Norvina pigments from TK Maxx- I like them a lot but hadn’t even heard of them or had them on my list for the full price 💀
That subculture pallet is actually great though. I still have it
Same!
I still have mine, just don't use it much. Heather Austin's palette with Adept is basically the same thing, just an amped up version with duochromes.
Ugh I know!! Nightmare before Christmas used to be hard to come by but now it is everywhere. It cheapens it too me.
What you said about bathtubs I felt that. My mom has one and she just stores crap in it and I'm like 👀👀 GURRRRL SOAK IN IT LET ME HELP YOU ORGANIZE
