The Theology of the Cross & Luther at the Coburg, Mark Henrich

The theology of the Cross is experienced, in a narrow sense, when a Christian faces hardship because they proclaim the gospel in their word and action. Luther experienced this when he was excommunicated and placed under the Imperial Ban for his refusal to recant. As a result, he could not attend the Diet at Augsburg in 1530 and participate in the presentation of the Augsburg Confession. Mark Henrich explains how Luther lived under the cross for his proclamation of the Gospel and how we continue to carry crosses for the gospel today.
