I watched this as a young man and didn’t understand the gravity of the bond between father and son. Now, 15 yrs on, married, with a son, I finally understand. Thank you.

Wow. Best part of that story for me was at 4:40. Dad never looks up to see the crowds reaction once. He watches his son the whole time. He's the real deal.

I never bothered to comment on a youtube video, but no words can describe how beautiful, inspirational and loving this is. Dick, your not a role model for just your son, your a role model for humanity.
This video is the reason why I started triathlon one and a half years ago. In a few weeks I am doing my first 70.3 and their story still brings tears to my eyes. Whenever I dont feel motivated or am tired, I watch this, go out running and be just thankful for the beauty that some people put into this world. Thank you Dick and Rick Hoyt for doing what you do.

who in their right mind dislikes this? 127 very sad people....this is an inspiration to a guy like me in a wheelchair disabled by multiple sclerosis. i am grateful for people like his dad who can see the person inside of a broken body and take the time to enhance their lives. more power to them both....RESPECT.
That was what I was thinking... There will always be those who hate because others love and in this instance, it's obvious there are those that lack empathy and compassion. It's not their fault, its how their made... But I guarantee, it matters not to the Hoyts or those of us who find inspiration in this amazing story.
That 127 is pale in comparison to the millions of people this guy has inspired.
I haven't seen a single dislike on this. Not sure where you got 127 people from. If so some people need to get their head out of their asses or check to see if their heart has a pulse

Fathers are important to us daughters too. We need that man to depend on in a world full of men we can't depend on We love our daddies!! I lost mine two and a half years ago, and miss that man every day.

This made me cry :') my headteacher told me about this. It's so true that we don't know what we are capable of. We have no limits unless someone stops us from doing something. Give whatever you want to do in life a try and have a go because no one is stopping you :)
Absolutely incredible, humanity has owes so much to these men to do better and push ourselves to better things. I have just started on my road and I thought I had belief in myself but this shows just what we can do when we use the heart we’re given. Moved doesn’t come close to the close to the emotions this evokes. Just wow if I can do 1% I can will be proud. Truly amazing and inspiring

Just remember there’s hundreds of thousands of other stories just like this and then somewhere different even though they are the same you don’t have to be in a wheelchair they have a great man in or out of the wheelchair there’s hundreds of thousands of people I believe that are great people for their family.
I am a man and I can't swim a lap on my pool, run a block or bike a mile - let alone doing all that while carrying a person with me.
I am a father and "I don't think" I can do half of the things Dick has done for his son.
Dick, you are a true inspiration for mankind and a leading model of fatherhood.
I will try to be like you - and I don't know if I will accomplish nearly 1/10th of what you have accomplished - but i will set you as a role model.

I love the story of Dick & Rick Hoyt, I first saw them about two years ago, and it's AMAZING to see that kind of love, and dedication to family and physical activity.
Remarkable courage and stamina. If most fathers had the same love for their children the world would be a better place. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
