Great review, yes I was hoping for the 240hp+ and 240lbs+ of torque like the Concept but this Sentra is still good. I own a 2003 SE-R SPEC V with 180hp and 180lbs of torque and that's enough for me, will be switching to a 2014 Maxima SV soon so my nephew can drive the Spec V.
The awesome thing is that with a few simple bolt ons we are very close to those numbers. I'm right at 225whp and 220 wheel torque. After uprev gets done with the tune we will have 300 wheel torque easy.
The problem with the Nismo Sentra is that it doesn't hit any demographic hard enough. It seems like they wanted to appeal to the "young" crowd, but I feel they would be swayed more towards the civic with its extreme body panels and and more power. They also wanted to appeal to people like myself who want something sporty but have to also worry about keeping my kid and groceries safe, but someone like me might prefer a hatch over a sedan to squeeze a little bit more utility out of it. The problem with this Sentra is it just doesn't do enough. If they imported the hatch version and bumped up the displacement to at least a1.8l and sold it at the same price point, it would do much, MUCH better.
I've owned one of these for just over six months and I agree that while the performance is by no means amazing it is certainly fun as a daily driver that is still a practical car. For me the two biggest flaws in the car is the user interface on the stereo, the touch screen is not very sensitive and very jumpy, and the navigation system, it picks terrible routes!
See i had no probs with my stereo or touch screen...i have the sr turbo...and like u said its an awsome fun car just to drive around...and the gas milage is amazing....ppl act lime its suppose to be a corvett or somthing....i love mine its 2017 40,000 miles and still going strong...
Great video, but the original B13 Sentra SE-R first released in 1991. How do I know? I had one. Nissan(Nismo) completely whiffed on this one. They had a golden opportunity to offer up a 300+hp AWD hatchback version that would rival the Civic Type R, the WRX, the Mazdaspeed 3, and Focus RS, but they decided to release a complete DUD. #Fail
crossphaded I built a 1995 200sx Stillen SE-R back in the day. Still one of my favorite cars. This new car does not feel anything like the original Sr20. I’m well aware or the original Sentra SE-R since it was a Car and Driver top ten pick. Totally agree with you.
I actually love Nismo products. But the price really is just a little too much when you put this against other competitors. Honestly they could've done without the Alcantara seats and fabric around the car which would've saved buyers $800-$1200. The Hyundai Elantra sport starts at $22k and is a blast to drive, the new 2019 Veloster looks to be good and the Civic Si is in the same range at around $24k with an excellent driving experience. This Nismo is $25k with outdated technology. I'm not saying the Sentra Nismo isn't any good it's just that the competitors offer the same driving dynamics with lower prices.
The problem with this car is it was phoned in and imported from Japan then received the treatment and it just isn't as sporty as the last generation Sentra SER which was also wider sitting on a Renault chassis.
the car got dnyod and shows 180WHP this means it should be rated about 205HP to the crank. Nissan underrated the performance numbers on this car for whatever reason.
The car is a nice package that is basically put onto the SR turbo. If you're not a car enthusiast and care about all the nitty griddy, then it's a good pick up if you want something on the sportier side. Coupled with a manual transmission the car is a lot of fun to drive. The reviewers are only dumping on this car because it's trying to compete with cars outside it's segment. And once again Nissan underrated the power on this car, its 180WHP which means it should be rated at 205 to the crank. So it's a good option despite all the hate. Let me know if you have any other questions. I know quite a bit about the car since I actually own one myself.
Boricua 4Life tell me about it. I have a 150hp frs that i love and these children that only focus on hp give me shit. Oh well. Im boosted now and i swear im still going to get shit. We can't make everyone happy, so you get what makes YOU happy. ☺
exactly, cars aren't always about numbers, its about the driving experience and how it makes you feel. As long as driving it puts a smile on your face that's the best anyone can ask for lol
That's plenty of horsepower for me. I think Nissan did a great job with the overall 2017-19 Nissan Sentra NISMO. The 6-speed would be the correct choice, oh yeah. Great new car!
It's nice. I think it's underpowered and over priced. For the same price you could get a gti.. Civic si.. focus st..or even Elantra sport turbo. Give it more power and options Nissan..then you'll be in the game with this car! Otherwise nice vid and decent car.
Michael Diaz the short answer is no. I only drove the Nismo, so I can’t really compare the two, but a tuned suspension on the Nismo means that it will handle those S turns better, and usually ride worse. I suggest a test drive of your own. Opinions will vary.
Adventure 316 thanks for the reply I been debating for the on the two in my area one midnight Sentra sr turbo is going for 15,700 and the mismo is going for 19,000 🤔
Michael Diaz thanks! That is a tough decision. My pocket says the SR would be fine. My heart says go Nismo. Neither one is a bad decision. I’m just glad I don’t have to pull the trigger. Good luck!
I like I just got and will tune it. Its good for my daughter and enough room in for a car seat in the back and fun to drive I love the only thing I wish was more sound but eventually that will happen
JtTech really? I built an SE-R years ago and the full exhaust with Header and intake added about 22Hp. I would think to get to 300 you would need a piggy back ECU with the piping. Hmm...makes me wonder how underrated the current stock horsepower is.
Adventure 316 it's pretty under rated, I'd check out j2 racing he has been getting nice numbers on the 1.6t, just like the new 1.5t Civic si that can get pretty decent gains for cheap

Where is the v now?
I looooove those SE-R SPEC V’s!!
Not enough HP for the platform. I personally am not a fan of the Sentra all together...BUT, when I hear NISMO, I think MORE THAN 188hp.
Whats wrong with the Sentra Nismo ? The price

Pip Holcombe A pioneer system with Apple carplay and Android Auto should fix the problem 👍🏽

I like it. Looks sporty without being way out there.

Great video on the Nissan Sentra NISMO. I also like this car. I enjoyed your apt descriptive abilities describing this beautiful new car from Nissan!
Great video sir, you made a lot of valid points. This car could have truly been great

Or just has a lot less drivetrain loss
Very pretty Sentra. Quick, but not street racer quick, which is fine for a Sentra. Looks like it will be a fun daily driver.
simplestrum yes, we have a winner! You my friend get it! You understand the purpose of the Sentra. Thanks :)

Does the nismo have a smoother less bumpy ride than the sr turbo?
Michael Diaz the short answer is no. I only drove the Nismo, so I can’t really compare the two, but a tuned suspension on the Nismo means that it will handle those S turns better, and usually ride worse. I suggest a test drive of your own. Opinions will vary.

I like your video I’ve watched this since last year nice shots
Michael Diaz thanks! That is a tough decision. My pocket says the SR would be fine. My heart says go Nismo. Neither one is a bad decision. I’m just glad I don’t have to pull the trigger. Good luck!
Nismo tuned suspension might help
I like I just got and will tune it. Its good for my daughter and enough room in for a car seat in the back and fun to drive I love the only thing I wish was more sound but eventually that will happen
He mentioned about the Sentra SE-R came out in 93 but it actually came out in 91
Jimmy Harrell yes, I knew that! Don’t know why I said 91?? I don’t exactly script this. Lol
you can have this sentra down with a Spoon motor spoert straight pipe and pathfinder turbo, thank me later
Hell all the nissan sentra got wideband ecu so it's tuner friendly
It's a nicer ricer!
Just tune it and you're good
the tune is $700 and brings you to 230hp and 250torque
@@Garrettgator100 is that wheel?
Nissan Pulsar 1.6 DIG-T with 190hp...
makes about 300 crank with full exhaust, intake, and intercooler piping
JtTech really? I built an SE-R years ago and the full exhaust with Header and intake added about 22Hp. I would think to get to 300 you would need a piggy back ECU with the piping. Hmm...makes me wonder how underrated the current stock horsepower is.

I hate this car Nismo Nissan Turbo 🖤
No hp...
It is still a pig with lipstick, what a disgrace giving this car a nismo badge
the 0-60 in this car is 7seconds flat.
Hah I beg to differ
If it takes you that long to get to third gear you obviously got issues
