Copper is now lined with stainless steel. In years past it was lined with tin. Copper was used in cookware bc of its ability to conduct heat. It can be toxic however if not lined. This is why it is often lined. Tin is softer than stainless and can be retined if it has worn. Great find.
Hi Emily! You always do so well at the good will bin’s. Your bowl is Silver plate over brass. Probably from the 70’s. Over years of polishing the silver wares off and the brass shows through so many people including myself got rid of them. Love that mirror! The copper pots in France were lined with tin and can be re tined to be used. Don’t use for food in its current condition. Have a great week!
The ‘bins’ are AMAZING! And so much fun 😊. I recommend wearing a pair of gloves to protect your hands. My gloves are a pair of stretchy ones with faux leather palms. They serve two purposes- they keep my hands from getting cut- and yes you will find that there is broken glass in those bins and 2 they keep your hand from getting covered with whatever grossness is in those bins 🤪. Have fun and keep safe 😊
I love your videos they are so upbeat ,just like you ! I love the mirror ,however I agree that it needs a little jazzing up . Just adore you Emily you are always so kind and happy . ❤
The chunky glass bowl was sold as part of a salad set in the 60s-70s, with a serving spoon and fork. The rim was originally silverplated over brass. The colorful sweater would be a hard “no” for me, but that’s just me. Lacquered brass is brass that has been polished and then dipped in lacquer so it won’t tarnish.
Awesome thrift haul from Gooodwill Bins!!!! My favorite items are the large mirror and the glass bowl!!!! Shopping the bins bring me so much joy because I'm saving so much money!!!! My budget is between $10-$15 per visit. I enjoy talking with other buyers!!! But it is addictive!!!! God Bless!!!
It’s so funny how many people I see there every time I go 😂 people are dedicated! Totally agree it brings joy in the $ savings AND saving treasures from the dump ❤️
Oh wow, you found some amazing things! As a fellow UA-camr, and lover of all things vintage/antiques, I am so glad that I came across your channel! I'm looking forward to your future videos! ❤
It's so funny that this video features you at a Goodwill bin store because I literally just went to one for the 1st time the other day with a friend. I didn't even know they existed and she had to show me how they worked with the weighing process...wow...I too got some amazing things and came out with a cart full for 15 dollars!! I can't wait go back! I scored on some closet organizers which I desperately needed as well as some unopened games for my grandkids when they come to visit. I definitely loved that mirror...my favorite. I love those types of frames and am looking for some myself. Can't wait to see what you do with your great finds!!🥰
The big heavy brass lamp that you passed on is called a bridge lamp. Very collectible and pricey. Lacquered brass has been treated with a clear coating to prevent tarnishing. I’d leave that gorgeous mirror frame as is. Be careful using plate hangers on anything you really like because they cause chipping. 👍
The only Goodwill bins near me is an hour away in Dubuque, Iowa. I dont know if it would be worth the drive. Although I'm so tempted now seeing your great finds! I love the way the cut crystal bowl cleaned up & would leave it with its new patina. A beautiful bowl to style with any bowl fillers, maybe vintage glass ornaments at Christmas. I can't wait to see how you style that gorgeous big mirror. Your clothing finds were amazing too. Keep the sweater! 💙💚🩵 wear it with ankle length jeans when the weather gets cooler. You could so pull off that style vibe. Love your videos! 😊
I Love the crystal bowl. In the 1970s I worked at a fine jewlry store. We had those bowls and i believe the metal was silver plate. I had fun going thrifting with you. I am stuck at home with health issues so i can't go myself. You did real well price wise. Thanks for the video.
That crystal bowl is beautiful, just use it how you prefer, I like the petina but I also like it cleaned up, try that sweater wit some darker khaki, you have such a cute petite body that you can wear anything, blue sweater is adorable, mirror is beautiful.
I think it might look cute with jeans!! I have a postpartum rule of no fitted pants from before pregnancy before 6 months pp 😂 we’re getting there and it might work!
Love everything you got...except that sweater lol. I want to love it but there's just something kooky about it- maybe it's the puff sleeves? Regardless amazing finds- have to get to my bins!
I use E6,000 glue to attach D-rings to the backs of plates then hang them on a nail. It looks much neater than the spring plate holders. Make sure you let the glue dry about 2 days before hanging the plate.
I would use the rub-n-buff. I absolutely love the mirror, and I have used rub-n-buff on the frame. Put a little on a toorh brush so you can get in all the nooks and crannies.
I love the mirror. Things are so expensive at my thrift shops any more. The mirror would have been like at least $50. You did get a lot for your money :))))
The item you said was used for butter, I use mine to blend the flour and Crisco for pie crusts. Also, anytime I have to blend something until crumbly, this is what I use.
Maybe try cutting sleeves off that funky sweater and making vest. Then use sleeves in another project. Scarf? I have a sweater that I loved colors but not fit. I cut right up the middle of it and made a cardigan. New sew project and get complements when I wear it🎉
The broken glass got me a few weeks ago. The bins here sometimes throws the breakables in a gaylord so most of the stuff gets broken. Its a shame really. OMG I am looking for a floor lamp like that right now ! That one was beautiful. Beautiful mirror for 6 bucks ! Good deal !
Hi Emily, the cut glass bowl is a fruit bowl they are pretty common here in the UK. They normally have either a solid silver or a silver plated rim. I suspect that your one has been polished once too often & the plate has worn off over time. It’s up to you if you add silver wax or leave it as is. Hope that helps you decide what to do with it.
Lacquered means it's coated so it won't tarnish. Probably solid brass. The painted brass candle stick could have been soaked in really hot water to get the paint off. That was probably silver plate on the bowl and the brasso was probably not the best way to clean it. Nice finds!
Soak the white shirt with blood in cold water rub with dish soap and re soak then wash if there’s a mark line dry in the sun and this should bring the stain out totally .😊the springy things will damage your plates long term you can buy a disk that sticks on with a hook that causes less damage .
Omgosh! Your bins had so many great vintage and brass pieces!!! I need your bins at mine! lol. I loved love the beautiful glass with the brass rim! My mouth dropped when I saw that! Such a stunning piece! So glad you picked it up! Thanks for sharing 💕
That mirror is great! It would sell on FB Marketplace for about $50. I know, because I've been looking for one. By the way, I went to Red White and Blue and about 4 other thrift stores in Bradenton last week, on your suggestion and got some great stuff! I got an 8' faux willow tree (Brand name Nearly Natural) at RW&B on sale, was $50. Got it for $25. Score! HOWEVER, I don't know what I was thinking. It's way too big for my home. As much as I love it, I may end up selling it 😥 Thanks for the tips on where to shop. I never have very good luck at the bins but maybe I'll have to go some morning next week. Great info on the housewares being put out in the morning!
That is good to know!! I hope you can find one soon! And I’m so glad you had success. lol that’s something I would do too if I got excited about a find! Give the bins a go in the morning 🤗

Silver!! I think it’s supposed to be silver! I literally just bought this exact same bowl at goodwill this week and polished it up and mine is silver. I love it!
❤your haul my favorite was the copper sauce pot. I have found a lot of copper pots by luck and I do use a few of my pots. The pots came from France and Italy.
I LOVE the sweater!! It feels very artistic to me. A deep plum/maroon skirt/pants would look amazing!
Someone told me it’s from Anthropologie which make sense worth it’s quirky look!
It's to cut the butter or shortening into your flour when you make pie crusts or biscuits
I’ve only tried those each once and didn’t have one of these so I’m excited to try again!
Yes! A pastry cutter! :)

Leave the rim of the glass bowl as is. Just my opinion.
