what an absolute beast. Sheckler is like no other, really glad this guy had such a long career and we get to see how kind/generous he is as a human as well.
Never glory grabs. Never brags. Always shares the credit. Always shows respect and gratitude to his crew. He’s a good dude. Deserves the insane talent.
All hail the best Thrasher series of them all! Mad respect to Sheckler for overcoming the burdens of his childhood fame and the repercussions that came with it.
So happy to see Sheckler still skating at this sort of intensity, and I'm also happy to see the community rallying around him. For a minute there I think he was probably one of the most hated dudes in skateboarding. With this part there's no denying he's a beast and has worked hard for it all.
I fully agree with you. He’s seen & been through some much sh*t. From a little skater to the absolute legend that he has worked so hard for. There are two skaters that have poured blood & sweat into modern skating and they are Jamie Thomas & Ryan. They have invested every part of their being into this industry! These guys are the warriors that young skaters should honor and look up to in awe. It’s not just their technical skill & bravery on display. It’s also their respect for their fellow man; rich or poor, skilled or novice. These two are mature athletes and love their craft. They have climbed to the top of the mountain & see the big picture. I can speculate that these two legends realize that power of love & Christ have impacted them in a personal way. Thanks, Ryan for sharing your struggles and for being a great example to the next generation of skaters. Also, props to his support system, close friends & his crew for their hard work - This was a team effort and you pushed him to greatness. I’m not sure he could have accomplished his dreams without y’all. - That said, I can’t stand Thrasher and their negative imagery & influence on millions of skaters.
I really how this particular My War is more of a team effort. Props to Ryan for getting the trick but also to his Homies that stuck by him. That shot Fabrizio took was insane. He's an MVP for that one 💪🏾
Navigating your adolescence and 20s, whilst dealing with global fame and (I assume) significant wealth, without falling off, pileing out or imploding on some social media land mine, is without question the gnarliest stunt of Sheckler's career. Shit, emerging from a 20-year stretch as a public figure (let alone pro skateboarder) with maturity, humility and integrity feels like an NBD... It's genuinely impressive. Much respect Ryan. And congrats on the new part.
More people should give him credit for that. Childhood celebrity lifestyle was always fascinating to me because everyone judges the dudes for “acting out” when they can’t imagine how hard it is to handle. Good for sheckler
For sure. Fame is super fickle beast. Don't want to name names but many others, probably most others come out the other side of teenage fame with addictions, health issues and breakdowns in their mid life. You nailed it that getting back on track mentally was biggest achievement. The skateboarding will follow if you can pull that off
@EddiXP he had a show back in the day and on that show he was throwing a fit and punched a hole in his wall lol. But i look past the negative bs cause all i see is a great skater.
What are you talking about he’s a raging drug addict POS. He’s not an ambassador to anyone or anything besides drugs and a wasted life. You think he deserves sympathy because he was RICH AND FAMOUS as a child? Are you high?
3 days (with a little break of 1,5 yrs) a whole crew of friends, a LOT of effort, frustration and a bit of pain and water, it all comes down to that one moment of AAAHHHH!!! Skating is serious achievement. 🤙 Well done, Ryan.
Ryan always goes big. Dude is a legend in skating. I remember seeing him as kid in thrasher and transworld back in 02-03 and here it is 20 years later and he is still killing it. Unbelievable 🎉❤
I'm 40 and have skated with Ryan in Hawaii several times for Plan B demo's, and once at the Vans skatepark in Irvine if I remember once and that was when he was like 8yrs old. I've watched him grow as a kid, skater, man, into the humble, inspirational man he is today. Its inspiring and so rad to watch him still doing it. I still can't believe it took Ryan that many tries with that FS Flip Gun he has. Awesome production and story! I love these and the old skatespot stories I grew up skating! PS Thrasher please do one on the Santa Monica Court House, or the old Venice Pit. Or both. LOL
because theyve deserved it all along, and the people who hated on them before have finally grown up. all the people that were hating are either old and can barely skate anymore, or cant skate at all. they look and see that sheckler and nyjah are still doing this shit at a very high level and its just incredible
This is why I love skateboarding, none of this would have been possible without the army of homies behind Sheckler. Best homies in the world, truly legendary!
don't keep up with skating much anymore but feels like i grew up with Ryan, this was so nostalgic to the days camped out at spots trying to land that 1 trick with the boys, thanks for the memories Thrasher and Ryan.
It makes me so happy that Ryan is still skating after all he's been through... dude is a true shredder with how he has always done insane gaps and high speed tricks. And shout out to the filmers, they really made this video fun to watch.
Skateboarding is seriously the best sport, and represents the good in the world. Builds the most solid resilience and discipline, and your friends actually stand by you, your shredding brothers help you succeed, they want you to land it. And they are happy to see you land It and grow. Best memories in my life came from my crew and skateboarding.
He got a lot of hate back in the day, and I think a lot of it was due to his MTV, but he was still a kid. Despite the hatred, he was still always one of the best in the world. His recent part is gnarly, and it was inspiring to see his battle with this trick.

Never seen a rough cut put out this soon after a part before. That spot looks gnarly af! I was never the biggest fan of him before but seeing Ryan out in the streets battling tricks like this Im a fan of him now!! Mad respect

The slam at the end, I felt that. Did not expect him to try and gap down it after. Seeing him setting up with all that speed going into the drop it was like “ oh no” But sick. Love it
I hope the Ryan Sheckler name enables this clip to seep into the public consciousness a little more. This really shows the determination that skateboarding instills. NEVER giving up. 🙌✨
Alot of people don't care for Sheck but he's one of the all time greats. He's contributed so much to skateboarding over the years. All his clips are legendary. Definitely in my top 3 for street skaters

More "MY WAR"S! Love seeing the stories of dedication and determination behind the epic tricks. Seeing the final product is jaw dropping but the whole story shows the real depth of the accomplishment.
I also cried bc I know how it feels to keep doing something and failing and finally getting I'm happy for sheckler man keep liven the dream and don't give up keep doing it until u get it
All of us old '90s skaters absolutely dogged Sheckler when he came up as a little kid. But now, as he's aged he's earned everyone's respect. Works hard and does it the right way. Props, Ryan.
Thought he was unwatchable when he was a kid. LIFER completely changed any preconceived opinion I had of him. Probably the best 6 minutes of skateboarding that I've ever seen. The BS flip over the gap at 2min 31sec was so smooth.
This is pretty good, but absolutely nothing compares to when my best friend Nyjah and I went surfing. He's a gold medal surfer boy on those waves. He really knows how to ride anything....anything. Anyway, I tried to do something cool to impress my best friend Jah but I wiped out. Next thing I know I'm being carried in Jah's scrawny yet muscular arms. Even though I was already awake, he still gave me cpr. He's also a gold medal mouth to mouth wizard. We went home and did more stuff. We are just friends though.
This is what they will never get when we say Skatboardings not really a sport. Skated as a kid in the late '80s - early '90s. Never very good, but enjoyed it. To this day, I watch skate videos on UA-cam. In a recent job interview, I brought up the fact that skateboarders make fantastic employees because they're not afraid to try challenging things, and they don't quit, even when they risk getting injured, embarrassed in front of their peers, regardless of how long it takes. I love that Mr. Sheckler didn't stop trying this gap for 2-3 years in spite of knee surgery and the other risks involved. I love that this was a team effort. This video will sit among my favorite 'try it 'till you make it' videos, like Hawk's 900 at the X-Games, and the Jaws 25-stair drop in Lyon.
