    Hello!! I'm a Phlebotomist in a huge hospital and my recommendation is that when you start your externship, you show your full potential and be confident in yourself. Hopefully you get a job offer during your externship and you will be able to gain experience and work in a hospital. I have a few videos on Phlebotomy and working in a hospital. Good luck!

    I’m 68 years old and went back to take a phlebotomy course. I passed it to my surprise. Had to memorize quite a bit; bit if I was in my 20’s it would have been easier. We had 114 questions on the exam to get certified.

    I’m a student at CSUF too! I have to get experience in the medical field in order to apply for PA schools. I did the program through Phlebotomy Training Specialist. I did the accelerated class after my spring semester in May. I have my externship in December right after my fall semester. I’m super nervous!! I haven’t poked in 6 months. I will review my notes and the book again before I start my externship. Wish me luck!

    Are you in Northern or SOuthern California?
    I plan to move to California, once Ive obtained certification and licensure as a Medical Lab Technologist, here in Florida.
    I'm currently working at a hospital as a Food Service worker, -I had to get my foot in the door. But I'm so done with working in Food so I'm applying to a certificate program that my school offers for Phlebotomy so I can be that till I become a Medical Lab Technologist, because I can't do food anymore.
    The Phlebotomy is about one semester, 165 hours of credit, hopefully I'll be taking it in August of this year. I'm anticipating.
    Thank you for this video.

    @Livinpeachy For the exam does it matter what school you go to when taking the exam through NHA ? Like I’m going through Express Training Services and our class is freaking out about the exam because we aren’t being taught anything and we don’t know how to prepare for our exam on the 29th because we don’t know what to study or what the exam consists of basically is the exam the same for all schools like will it have all the same stuff ? And we were being told we have 148questions and only 1.5hrs HELP! Lol

    Just found your channel, loving it. I live in LA, I'm applying to nursing school and I currently work at office work that I hate. Since, I just need my Physiology class to finish my requirements for nursing school. I would love to quit my office job and be involved in the medical field while getting paid. Would you still recommend me to apply for a phlebotomist program, and get certified before getting into my nursing school? Should I apply to my nursing program after I get certified or as soon as I finish my class (Physiology) like I had planned? Thank you so much

    • @livinpeachy
      @livinpeachy  4 роки тому +1

      Hi nenni, I believe nursing school will help you with that certification. I would say to go into nursing school prior to doing phlebotomy just because you will have clinicals. Phlebotomy is pricey, but quick. The program for me was 2K. It would be nice to get certified and get a job but again it is all up to you. I think its best to apply for nursing school after your complete your class. Best of luck to you ! :)

      I just finished my course yesterday. It was $695 + $55 of mandatory CPR. We had the exact same book as this young lady and it's NOT NEARLY enough! It's ONLY a workbook, NOT a text book. We also had a class of only 7 and had to achieve 30 draws in only 8 classes! Exhausting, not nearly enough education bin my opinion. I am not even close to being ready for the exam. :(

      Hi. I took a phlebotomy class at my local community college. The class itself was around $750, plus 2 books which were about $230. The class lasted about 8 weeks, 2 days a week. After the class is finished, the college places you with a clinic/hospital to do your clinicals (externship). For us, we had to do 100 hours and get 100 successful sticks before we could complete clinicals. I'm pretty sure most places don't pay you for your externship.
      I just finished my clinicals this week. Now on the find a job!!

      Hi! I'm currently a phlebotomy student at a local private institution, my program in total was $3k (includes scrubs, textbooks, externship placement, labs). Due to the pandemic, most externship sites within my area closed down but I'm sure most schools have backup externship plans if they want to give you the option of fastening the process for you to get on the field asap. Externships sites do not pay you, but I believe depending on the site they do offer you meals to compensate!
