You folks are covering it all. So glad I recently purchased a F 850 GSA. Thanks for making life on a M/C easier.
Fantastic, thank you. This is the kind of simple but practical solutions thinking that make life easier and this system should be standard on all new models with rather an option to connect retro navigation devices to the cradle instead of the other way around as it currently is (thus instead of new bikes coming with a navigation integration cradle it comes with a phone integration cradle with a bracket to retro fit Garmin devices). Haha on coming away with more than you planned this time of the year. For me it's usually just before my wife's birthday since that's always the best possible time to purchase a new bike (right before spring starts). As you can imagine, saving money can make life rather complicated.
Totally agree with @Jayakrishnan. Mr. Because other motorcycle brands put this in place (Apple CarPlay) without it being dangerous.
You can't even define a Way Point personally on a large map to be precise. No software for this. No possibility of sharing favorite way points.
And getting back to the ConnectedRide Cradle. If it rains the smartphone is not waterproof so it must be removed and we no longer have a GPS.
The big plus is being able to use the multi controller.
But Ideally it needs to emulate the TFT dashboard (like the Wonderlinq) to make it worthwhile for my 2017 (non TFT) BMW.
Just purchased the Connected Ride Cradle and installed it on my 2017 R1200GS with GPS Preparation. Very pleased with the experience - but the real power is the ability for the BMW Connected Ride app to improve over time. Navigation functions are excellent 👍. Highly recommend this.
do you also see traffic information such as traffic jams? And do you possibly get a diversion and recalculation?
Do you always need a phone with a SIM card, or can I use my spare phone without a SIM card and connect it via the hotspot of the other phone?
I really hope this will solve the connection problem with the phone. Because BMW has not offered any solution for two years. In any case, well done for your involvement and your work.👍
What does the light in bottom left corner of the cradle indicate? Just installed mine and during ride home the light changed from orange / yellow to green and back with no apparent reason.
I really wanted to get this and had one ordered only to find you made it too small for the Google pixel 6.
I'm surprised you also made the depth to shallow for users to keep their phone cases on. Who designed this cradle to have your thousand pound phone held without a case? Also had it been deeper it would allow users to add foam pads to protect their iPhone camera's from vibration.
Hello. I own a R1200RS 2017 (0A05). I’ve purchased the cradle but the App do not record the routes. Also, all bike information is displayed (pressures, kms, fuel volume,) but no inclination nor acceleration/deceleration data) Is this normal?
I own a R1250RS with TFT /multi-controller and Nav prep. Ride with NAV6 since 2 years now and like to step over to the BMW navigation app.
Understood that smartphone needs to be coupled with the cradle to use the controller.
What about pairing the phone with the TFT?
Is this still needed to make calls or having speed limit on the dashboard?
Have a BMW helmet as well.
Do I need to establish a connection with TFT also?
In fact, 3 connections need to be set up:
- Phone to cradle
- Phone to TFT
- Helmet to TFT.
Advice is very much appreciated.
Hello, I bought a cradle and verified that always the smartphone is being charged wirelessl the motorcycle key loses connection. From what I tested it has to do with charging..!! Thank you in advance for the feed back
Can you explain how to get the POI / map overlays / turn by turn shown on the phone ? I have the BMW smartphone cradle and an iPhone 13, but can seem to get the wizz-wheel to work with / on the phone, the phone just displays a very simple map. Tks
und was ist mit der Kompatibilität zu "älteren" z.B. RTs? Meine 2010er MÜ (430) hat einen 5er Navigator dran und laut BMW Webseite soll der Cradle da nicht passen? Echt jetzt?
Does the cradle fits for IPhone 14 pro who has a lens sticking 2 mm out on the back ?
Very nice, but it would be better to have a version that directly mounts and wires to the bike. In other words, eliminate the middle man of the nav prep.
When is this going to be available in the USA or Central American Markets?
I cannot understand why I need this cradle if all is doing via Bluetooth? Why can’t I use usual holder from aliexpress and have the same functionality?
is now available to buy in the US
Can this cradle works in 2021 s1000rr ?
I am looking to buy the cradle ,but will it work on a 2019 RT1250LE and with a Samsung phone
What is the price and when will it be released in Korea?
Hi, first of all i love this solution. I recently bought a New BMW RNine T Scrambler (2021 version). My local BMW dealer is fitting the navigation preparation on it, in combination with the smartphone cradle. As you know, the bike doenst have a TFT screen, so im wondering which functionalities i’m missing as compared to a BMW bike with TFT screen. Can i wirelessly charge my iPhone 13 Pro Max? Can i see Motorcycle data (distance, temp, etc.) on the smartphone? Can i use the screen while driving (i’m guessing its not recommended, but i’m curious). Also, is it possible to receive navigation routing via bluetooth to a Sena headset solution? Thank you in advance, J
how about getting the Android phones to have Volume control on the wheel?
So these days almost everyone has a cover around his phone. By the looks of the dimensions I have to take my phone out of the cover everytime I want to use my phone for the cradle. Why didn't you make it bigger so it fits your phone with cover in the cradle like other adapters for the nav preparation??
It'll likely fit if you have a reasonable size case on the phone.
I won't even fit my Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus with a thin cover...
Doesn't fit my OnePlus 8 Pro with a thin case as well
Fits my iPhone with cover and it has a screen cover
hello on the 2014 GSA bikes don't give the ones with GPS
can you get this cradle for a 2019 bmw RT1250 thanks
Can I listen to music while using the navigator, does the navigation app give radar information and speed limits? Can you choose a destination bij pointing a location on the map?
Is it compatible with Xiaomi mi 10 T?
Is this compatible with R1200 GS model 2017?
I've gone through 2 Nav6 Gen1's because of their faulty screens and I'm now on a Gen2 Nav6 which after only a month the screen is also now playing up on, how long have these cradles been tested for and how long before they start falling down I wonder. Do you have to have the data on your phone turned on all the time when using the connect app or can you use a nav program that stores the maps on your phone.
You must download maps to use the app.
I added the connected app to my iphone for my 2020 R1250RS and I hate it. I use a Garmin 665 GPS on the cradle. Its portable, water resistant and it has satellite radio. This move to smart phones from individual portable GPS units is a big mistake.
Basically a very could idea but there are still a few thinks where you should think about. A Galaxy Note 20 doesn’t fit at all, although according to the information it should fit. And with a case the is no change that you get the mobile fixed proberly in the cradle because it is to thick. Another point is the problem with the camera units on the most mobiles which a currently on the market. As soon they jut out the phone doesn’t sit properly in the cradle and the inductive charging can make some trouble. Not all BMW Motorrad drivers are using a iPhone 7 or 8 where i don't have any doubt that they would fit proberly. So I'm still in the need to buy a navigator VI for my 1250GS🤨
what is prep for nav. / not std built in to the f900xr
GENIAL Saludos desde LA Mitad del Mundo.
Can the cradle fit C400x?
Can this display my bike's speed from the canbus?
Thank a lot for your video, but I need more information about the possibility to manage some application as Kurviger or Waze ?
I use à smartphone solution since several years with a more possibility that my old Garmin Zumo.
I you use one smartphone IP68 you can ride without problem (rain, vibration, warm ness…)
BMW dealers in America have not heard of this. Does not seem to be available in USA
Will a iphone XR and 13 Pro Max fit into it without hassle or unnecessary pressing of power or volume button?
Hi Safdar, both, the iPhone XR and iPhone 13 Pro Max fit in the ConnectedRide Cradle. 😉
Great video, many thanks and this definitely looks like a superb addition to my bike! I'm wondering if I could use this cradle straight onto my 2014 R1200RT LC? It's got all the options, just wondering if it would fit into the dashboard or would it need adjustments? Many thanks for your reply.
Hi there, thanks for your interest in our ConnectedRide Cradle! 😊 Concerning your questions, yes you can use it on older BMW models without TFT and an additional navigation preparation SA 272 (available separately), to attach the BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Cradle to your motorcycle. Please note that the cradle is not compatible with the Navigator's 4-button Mount Cradle. We kindly advise you to contact your local dealer for more details concerning your BMW R 1200 RT! Please find him here: www.bmw-motorrad.com/dealer.

@@bmwmotorrad many many thanks for this
Will this kill iPhone cameras like phone holder cradles on the s1000xr or has it got vibration dampening?

Thank you BMW. I have added the ConnectedRide Cradle to my 1250 GS and love it. Works great and does what you said it should. I was wondering if you intend to extend this so we can chose to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay instead of the Connected app. I look forward to your reply.

The bike has a TFT, why do we even need this?!?! Come on BMW, we should be able to do all this with just the TFT, I don’t get why we need another device when it could all be done with the current TFT if you guys would just design some clever software. I know I’m not original in saying this but it’s so silly to me.
Great idea but most phones are not waterproof and on a sunny day you will still need to remove it from it's protective case every time you use the cradle? Does it provide wireless charging?
it does wireless charging. And I've had waterproof phones for years, you should invest in that.
Thanks for reaching us, John! 😊 Charging usually works with the case. 😊 And we kindly advise you to check the following dimensions and if your case has a suitable size:
Minimum 130,1x65, 5x6.9mm; maximum 162.5x78,1x8.8mm. 😊🙌
Can it be used with a 2014 RT with navi prep? I read a post that sounded like the answer is no, but it was a little unclear. It sounded like it could not be retrofitted if the RT did not have navi prep already installed. Please advise.
Hello lowriderrjw,
thanks for reaching out to us.
Unfortunately the RT bikes are not fitting for the use of the ConnectedRide Cradle.😉
@@bmwmotorrad Thank you for advising. Are there any plans to offer it for the RT navigation mount in the future? Is there currently any way to use the BMW app with the RT through an iPhone to get a similar experience, or is the cradle necessary to communicate with the bike?
where to buy?
Non sono disponibili i sottotitoli!
I have bought, installed and set up this cradle and it is a great addition conceptually. There is a big "however" though. Why was it not designed to accommodate a reasonable sized phone in a reasonable sized case? Like most people with expensive smart phones I use a protective case. My phone is not huge, it is a basic iPhone 13 and I keep it protected in an Otterbox Commuter case, again not a huge case. This combination does not fit properly into the cradle. It will fit but the upper lip does not fully cover the phone. Sadly, this spoils an otherwise brilliant product, unless I am missing a solution, other than riding without using my phone cover that is.
È possibile utilizzarlo nel GS 1200 Adventure del 2015
Hey BMW! I have a question on the connected ride cradle. Does it have any shock absorption to protect the camera? Adventure riding gets dicey, and i've found if there isnt something in-place to handle the vibrations, your fancy iPhone camera will become a potato. Thanks!
Hey BeeMW,
thank you for reaching out to us! Firstly, the ConnectedRide Cradle encloses the smartphone inside rubber elements. Secondly, the mount on the motorcycle - the navigation preparation, in which the cradle is secured - itself has rubber elements that decouple it from vibrations. So no fine vibrations get through to the smartphone and it is adequately protected. ☺️🙌
Could you make a video explaining this in detail?@@bmwmotorrad
Hi, I wanted to know if you have encountered problems or damage to the smartphone cameras as a result of use or the vibrations to which they are subjected. Thank you.
Hey there,

I just wish BMW would fix up the BMW Navigator VI, so that audio went out to the connected system of the F900XR and into the BMW system helmet communicator. Maybe this cradle is an admission that BMW have given up on the Navigator VI?
was wondering this myself - have the navigator VI and it's woefully behind the market - maybe it is a sign of the times, as the car market has gone to head units with carplay and inbuilt Nav, the industry for standalone nav devices is only going to get smaller and this would appear to be the direction of travel for BMW with the connected app and now the official holder (though have been also using the much cheaper ebay version for a while!)
I missed the broadcast, sorry, I'm a 2014 Gs Adv user, how can I use this connect ride on my cradle screen, thanks because there is no TFT screen
Hi Mustafa, thanks for your question! ☺️You can use the ConnectedRide Cradle on older BMW Motorrad models (e.g. BMW R 1200 GS K50). It can fit all BMW Motorrad models equipped with the optional "Preparation for the navigation system (option 272)". And models equipped with Multi-Controller and the option of retrofitting the navigation preparation via the BMW Motorrad workshop system (except R 1200 RT, R 1250 RT, K 1600 models).
Older motorcycles without a TFT instrument cluster can use the Connected Cradle via the "Preparation for navigation unit SA 272" control element. The prerequisite for displaying vehicle data is "On-board computer Pro (option 221)".
Additionally, we kindly advise you to contact your local dealer for further help! The local dealer can be found at www.bmw-motorrad.com/dealer.

I have a 2018 S1000XR and no TFT screen, looks like this is not compatible with my bike then ?? APP keeps prompting to connect to the TFT I obviously don't have ?
Hi there,
Thanks for your question! On older vehicles without a TFT display you have to use the control element of the preparation navigation unit SA 272. Please get in touch with your local dealer for more details about it: www.bmw-motorrad.com/dealer.
All the best,
Lukas of the BMW Motorrad Team
How can you use the Multi-Controler to operate the ConnectedRide Cradle if your bike does not have a TFT screen (and so no Menu 'up' button)?
Hi Jan, good question! We kindly advise you to reach out to your local dealer concerning the Multi-Controler usage if your bike has no TFT screen. The ConnectedRide Cradle can be used without TFT. But you need the preparation navigation unit SA 272. The prerequisite for displaying the vehicle data is the SA 221 onboard computer Pro.
Will this allow the phone to display the bike's mechanical data, i.e., tire pressures, engine temp, etc. like the Nav 6?
yes, you can see this information in the app as well
Why dont you have a good deal with Garmin so instead of changing NAV VI every season by guarantee, they can give us a good discount for Zumo XT2??? Since NAV VI is already Garmin product.
Question: If I have an unused phone (like a Galaxy S8) lying around, but not with any SIM card (still BT and GPS enabled), would buying one of these for almost 3rd of a price of a navigator work? Like if I can dedicate that phone for navigation, install the app, plug it in the new cradle.
If I am not mistaken, the Connected Drive App it's installed in the phone, and the maps must be downloaded too, so it's possible to use the navigation function of the Connected Drive without a SIM card, or internet connection.
Just download the App and it's Maps into the old smartphone using WiFi, take the cradle, plug and go.
When an update and/or new mapa region is needed, just take the phone and use WiFi to install them.
@@asturiancetorix2552 Thank you!
Hi there,
You can use a mobile phone without a SIM. But: You then have no online functions such as Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) and can only upload recorded routes to your account in a WLAN. Of course, the navigator is much more robust than a mobile phone against vibrations on the motorbike and rain, can be read much better in daylight and can also be operated by touch with gloves.
Is it possible to let the (relatively small) smartphone iphone 11 pro into the (thin) cover AND make use of the wireless charging function?
Hi Marcel, you can use your iPhone 11 Pro for the ConnectedRide Cradle, and your iPhone 11 can be charged inductive or by cable. To secure the smartphone in your ConnectedRide Cradle, we recommend you remove the phone's protective slip-case.☺️
Hello i don t speack english have you the same video in french
Again no update of the navigator VI : a true pity for many of us
Super helpfull! ❤️ 👍👍👍 Continue like that BMW 😊
Please make an adaptor for the Garmin Zumo XT that will interface with the multi-controller. Or just make the Zumo XT the BMW standard NAV device.
For a lot of reasons, navigating with a phone on a motorcycle is not ideal for me.
no worries, anything else? I will get the entire development team onto your request.
look at eBay, this adapter already exists. but without wheel-controller support of course
Believe me guys! Garmin is an old navigation device! DMD2( drive mode dashboard 2) generation is now real. Some small companies like “ Carpe-Iter” has revolutionized the navigation industry! The company offers Soft and hardware for adventure riders. BMW and Garmin have missed the digital evolution! 😢( Carpe-iter.com)
What I seem to be missing in all the presentations of this new device, is the ability to import GPX routes once the phone is connected with the cradle. Were you able to try/test that option out?
Also if you ride into an area without a signal you loose navigation.
Ich finde die Lösung an sich ganz gut. Ich warte aber erstmal ab wie so die Erfahrungswerte mit der Vibrationsdämpfung sind, bevor ich mein 1300€ iPhone in so einer Haltung benutze 😬

Will it be compatible to others navigation apps? Waze, Google, etc.
Nope

Ich glaube es nicht. Das RT Model hat jetzt schon ein Navi integriert. Das Display ist aber etwas größer. Es scheit so, das der next Gen. R1300GS (2023-2024) Navi auch haben soll. Ich lass mich überraschen.
What hidden feature?? I own a GS Adventure. The Garmin nav6 is a nightmare. It’s horrible. I was appalled. I don’t use it. And the BMW gps in quotes onto the TFT with turn instructions is another quarter of a solution.

Why not have apple car play or android functionality? Also is there any way the the map be replaced with Google maps? This request I had posted in iOS App Store also, still no update.
Hi, it does not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto functionality. We are not setting ourselves up against Apple Car Play or Android Auto. However, the BMW Motorrad Connected App offers a navigation system that is designed for motorcycling use cases and allows useful functions with a minimum of distraction while riding. This is what we have concentrated the development on which, however, never stands still but moves forward step by step. We are always looking at new options and listening to our customers' desires.
