Also-- THE UNDERWORLD SAGA is out AAAAA!! I listened to it on loop while working on the last bit of this animatic snippet.
There's so many good Poseidons in existing animatics! I wanted to throw in my interpretation too -- This one is not even using his trident yet, just playing with the mortals... But we'll see what happens in Part 2, haha.

Jesus this is brilliant. I love how Poseidon just hides in literally every drop of water to scare the shit out of Odysseus. It really shows a sense of helplessness and hopelessness on Odysseus' part because Poseidon could be anywhere! I love how in this version it looks like Poseidon's FURIOUS about him hurting his son as opposed to him just being mad about him not killing him. Please keep up the AMAZING work that you've done!! I can't wait for the second one!

Absolutely!
Most animatics of Ruthlessness make Poseidon angry, and that's basically what the song is about but this one makes him seem more annoyed than anything, playing with Odysseus and the lives of his companions.
He could kill all of them with a snap of his fingers and he's constantly making the point of letting them know that all the while he torments Odysseus specifically.
For sure - there was definitely a level of "out of Odysseus' league" that I wanted to get across!
@@Tamathetamagooh definitely and I love that he is using his power as it makes more sense as he does talk to Odysseus and punished him. But his other punishment was killing his fleet. A karmaic justice because his crew killed the sheep and then he was going to kill him.
Plus the amount of power you gave him is what I expect of Poseidon. Because he controls all of the seas. He is in every drop of water (not rivers) in the world because he owns it. That power alone should be shown and terrifying

Haha, thanks! The first time I heard Ruthlessness, I thought the opening chorus was very dramatic -- So I made him also very dramatic. xD
I haven’t seen an animatic where Poseidon is killing his men throughout the song instead of just at the end. I like it.
It's cool how Ody was trying to rescue his men.
The shot of him underwater and seeing all his drowned men is really good.

I fucking loved that start! Hearing the voice of Poseidon, the ocean going still, then walls made of tidal waves reaching the sky box you in as the largest wave turns into Poseidon himself. Incredible!

This is FANTASTIC!! I love how- just-- he's SO teenage girl about this all and it's so good. I love all of the cool water effects, whenever he turns into water, and his introduction with the massive, huge walls of water is by far the most epic thing ever. So chilling. I cannot wait for more!

The way you've illustrated water here is so gorgeous--the way it surges, flows, and breaks is awesomely rendered, especially for an animatic. Awesome work capturing the intensity of the ocean. :)

Edit: Hey can i use this animatic to practice animating water in 3d? (Using it as a storyboard)
I love how Poseidon is using the water. A lot of animatics that I seen have Poseidon using the basics of the water but not really to this amount of manipulation. This is the amount of manipulation I would think of coming from a huge company animating all this to make it feel super epic. The best I can compare it to is when Noah parts the seas and that one movie made by DreamWorks. And there was heavy emphasis on how the water was moving away and you put heavy emphasis on that showing how much control he has in this situation. It also shows how screwed he is because he controls all of the water.
