I studied with Juan at luthier Richard Schneider's Etudio de la Guitarra in Detroit in 1970. I drove from Ann Arbor, a round trip of 100 miles. I was the happiest man in Detroit before and after each lesson.
The best show and most enjoyable entertainment i ever experienced.. i love el arte flamenco..i admire maestro juan Serrano so much ,i have some of his books and records from L O N G T I ME A GO...THANKS A MILLION!
Great video but it occurs to noone today to wonder how Juan Serrano can make money from this DVD if it's up on UA-cam. Yes we all want things for free and can say how wonderful an artist is, but what about their pensions, their bank accounts? Flamenco guitarists are generally not millionaires.
God of flamenco guitar, with a funny accent twist :)))))) Never heard a better guitarist or Musician, till the talking. Still, god is one and have no replacement. The greatest flamenco guitarist ever, if you ask me. Much better than Paco de Lucia, Mario Escudero or Sabicas. I know, ”the purists” will eat me at breakfast, but, the true is true. Javier Conde, Diego del Morao, Tomatito, Manolo Sanlucar , and specially Vicente Amigo at their best make nearly the same magic. Oo, and Oscar Herrero Salinas, Antonia Jimenez Arena, Antonio Rey Navas and that brat from Chile Andres Hernandez Pituquete. Never without Jeronimo Maya, off course, with Victor Monge Serranito and Rafael Riqueni. Still there are Paco Cepero, Paco Serrano and great Paco Peña. Enrique de Melchor and quite few more. My personal favourites are Jeronimo Maya and Mercedes Lujan, all times. Never ask me why, love is blind / illogical. :)))))) besides, Jeronimo has exactly my age, and Mercedes is born in the same day with me but 10 years later.
Wow what an asnwer! Juan is my nr1 too, but really, these other giants are extremely important, i would never ever even dare to criticize Paco de lucia or Sabicas, but really, having Juan serrano as my nr1 is just pure subjective and LOVE towards Juan.
Listen to his Ole La Mano - that made me become a flamenco guitarist. 5 years later he magically appeared at the University of Michigan and gave a concert, looking for students. I became a very grateful one.
