I just moved to south Alabama from California, and I love it here. California has racism and crime galore. One thing I appreciate about Alabama is that my right to protect my family is not limited to the confines of my home. You say constitutional carry is a negative? I feel the opposite. The criminals in California concealed carry and know you don’t. At the end of the day I love that our country is structured in a way that allows the states to govern themselves. If you don’t like it here in Alabama, go somewhere else. Same as I left California. There’s a state out there for everyone. GOD bless the USA!

California has crime and high expense living and environment issues don’t know about racism except for riverside and some of the LAPD cops At least Alabama allows you have conceal weapons to protect your family where california doesn’t but gives more rights to Illegal people and criminals then to law abiding citizens. Alabama is not racist at all. Not anymore that was in another lifetime. Mississippi west Virginia and Arkansas is the most states in the country and Idaho probability Indiana they say is the Alabama of the north with the KKK hiding in the woods there in certain pockets.

First of all I live in Southeast Alabama I have lived here all my life it’s a great place to live . Alabama is a beautiful state with lots to offer but the region that you are referring to is the “old black belt” region of the state. This area was once the wealthy part of the state with all the plantations and wealth. After the war of northern aggression the plantation society failed and the region now is made of of very poor mostly black people . When you mix extreme poverty with drugs from outside the state you get a higher crime rate and it seems that’s the people that you were dealing with I myself am a gun owner I do not carry a gun everywhere I go nor am I a racist or a hater of anyone but I do and will defend my home and my state from all threats foreign or domestic. Here in Alabama we are Christian and we are conservative there are a lot of people who do not like us just because of that just saying so know the facts before you jump to conclusions there sport !

No, we are not all conservatives & we aren’t all Christian. We have Muslim schools & Jewish schools & public schools & Christian schools & on and on. “Northern aggression” is supposed to piss y’all off cause no one in this century refers to the civil war by anything except the civil war. The black belt gets its name from the dark, rich soil of the Selma area. Extreme poverty is very bad here and that’s no joke. Selling drugs puts food on the table & using them helps you forget how poor you have it. Income & lack of equity is sad every where. I don’t know why Bham (Ensly, Bessemer, Fairfield, Midfield, Homewood, Tarrant, etc) is so bad. The schools are bad to. Mountainbrook & Vestivia etc are doing so well. “I’m not a racist” are just not words I have put into a sentence. I mean why? Why would you think you would have to add that to any paragraph that also calls the war “northern aggression”?

Have to admit this was the most negative clip I'd heard you do, so I stuck with it and discovered why. Big cities everywhere suck. I've lived in CA, CO, IN MI, TN and AL. Was a truck driver for a while so have been through every state except: Main, Vermont, New Hampshire, Delaware, Rhode Island, Washington, and Oregon. There are good people in every state but they're very rarely in large cities for the reasons you mentioned here. Pretty sure you can find the same types of people you described in Miami and Orlando as well. The more rural areas are nicer and more peaceful. Many put up with big city attitudes during a long commute to earn a living just to be able to live in peace in far off places. I'm originally from a rural area in TN and now live in a smaller town in northwest AL. We've had a few Mexican food restaurants open and close but their closers had nothing to do with racism. They started out well had great food for good prices, unfortunately before they closed (usually after a change in management) prices went up quality in food went down. Shortly after they closed. What may have caused you troubles in the big cities doesn't exist everywhere in the state. However most folks who enjoy the quiet life agree with you and other big city types like you. Nope don't come here, we like things the way they are and don't need big city attitudes and big city BS in our areas. We can sense BS we won't tolerate it and don't want it. Skin tones and heritage got nothing to do with whether someone is welcomed to any area in this country. I've lived in many places dealt with many stereo types, and misconceptions. Yeah I am never afraid to call out BS when I hear it. Sorry you went through obviously some traumatic experiences. However it happens when you go to the wrong places with the wrong attitudes. One thing no one in the Southeast will put up with is someone from somewhere else telling us how We should live. We don't do that to others and expect the same respect in return. As far as laziness goes not seen anyone lazier than those born after 1990 till now. The rest of us still work hard and do our best to leave others alone. Buckle up buttercup life tends to get worse as you get older. However if you never give up or give in to fear you'll survive and do well. Good luck in your future endeavors.

The SE is very different culturally. Some transplants take to it and some don't. If you are an introvert, not into socializing often, hate hot humid weather, bugs, aren't into sports such as football, baseball, going boating or fishing, this may not be your place. If you like a lot of open space and mountains, this may not be your place. If you're not into small talk, this may not be your place. It is a much slower pace of life, and this can take getting used to. I've met some of the most kind, helpful, generous, wonderful people here. Most of my experiences living in the SE have been good. For me, it's just not where I want to be long term. I just don't have a strong connection to this part of the country.

Damn! You really have it out for Alabama! Although a Texan, I've lived in many different places in and out of the country, including in Alabama. I had mostly good experiences in AL. No matter where I have lived in the world, I have encountered both good and bad people. That's just life! There are assholes everywhere!! There is no utopia! If you treat people with courtesy and respect, MOST of the time you will be treated in the same manner. You get what you give.
Here is a tip to those of you who are not from Alabama or the South: Alabama is a southern state in the deep South. It has its own culture and it's own way of doing things. Like my native Texas, approaching people in Alabama in a polite, respectful way will usually get you a hell of a lot further with
them. I know it's not customary in northern states, but in the South it's regarded as respectful to address strangers, the elderly and persons in authority as ma'am or sir. This is part of our culture in the South. Also, mind your manners, using please, thank you, excuse me, etc. Manners are a biggy!! Don't be brash in your approach. Practicing these Southern etiquette suggestions will help you in your interactions in Alabama and down South. I know what I'm talking about, but you are free to take my advice or not. Take care, Y'ALL!!

I love Alabama I've lived here for 54 years. The people here for the most part their great. I drove a Truck OTR for 16 years and been to every state and Alabama is the best state everytime I came home and seen the Alabama state sign I was so happy nothing like sweet home Alabama. I think you had a bad experience and you hold aggressive emotions toward Alabama. Get over it life is hard no matter where you go. Sorry for your feelings toward Alabama. Alabamians are great and their not scared to say hello to everyone in fact their not scared of anything. Florida WOW why would anyone live in Florida I hate Florida but I'm happy you're happy where you're at and I hope nothing but great things for you and your family.

Alabama has a buddy buddy system. It’s all in what cop or mayor you know. The older generations are racist and if not. They are prejudice. I’m sorry you experienced that. I am a white guy and lived here my whole life. Although I can agree it seems like the old days and everyone puts on a front. I have mostly witnessed friendly people, yet judgmental people. The college towns have some hope. I don’t like how most places treat Latino people. It’s being separated from other cultures that make it bad. I do think it’s all of good people doing bad things and thinking they are helping.

All we Latinos want to do is work to provide for our families just like everyone else there's enough bread to be made for everyone. Jesus said love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Police in Alabama rarely pull over Hispanics. We have towns with more Hispanics that some towns in Texas. About every 15th car on the road is a Cargo van with 5 ladders and a hispanic driving it. This Video is 100 percent False. A couple of things he did get right but most of it is pure garbage and way off from reality here in Alabama.

I think you’ve got some biased opinions on Alabama. There are portions of Alabama (gulf coast, auburn, and northeast Alabama) that I’d happily live in.
