Too much of the video is driving through downtown. A walk through Big Spring Park and some of the many other parks and greenways would be nice. Also show Cummins Research Park, UAH and Alabama A&M campuses, the botanical garden, space & rocket center, and new entertainment venues,.
I'm from Japan and live in Tokyo. Actually, I went to Alabama to study abroad and stayed at my friend's house in Huntsville. This city is great for me. It's not a too big and small city so I felt comfortable. My favorite place is Big Spring Park. Its Christmas decorations are beautiful!! Someday, I'd like to go there again.
What a coincidence, bro! I would love to visit Tokyo, and Japan! I know Tokyo is a city in Japan, yes, yes. I just meant Tokyo specifically but also Osaka! For the food and culture, and of course some other places too.
I live in Huntsville and this is such a nice review! I love Huntsville because it's got the benefits of a big city but you can go 20-30 minutes and be in the country with fields and cows. 🥰. It's growing a lot and things are getting more expensive but we have a bunch of fun things to do with the traditions of the South. Come visit if you can! 😊
I was so excited to see Nick did a review of Huntsville. But then…it was JUST Huntsville, and he missed a couple big points. I wish he WOULD HAVE done a review on Madison County & included the surrounding areas. Madison City in particular has stuff to do…Open air mall, beautifully landscaped (Bridge street), a few small businesses/restaurants that are incredible, etc. the NASA space & rocket center alone has tons of stuff to see & do. We have botanical gardens (I’ve never been but bear they’re pretty) & are a 30 min drive to Wheeler state park, although there are many beautiful parks throughout the state. Madison City has some of the best schools in the state, maybe the country. Very rare to find conservative public schools you can trust with your kids, although I fear that’ll be coming to an end shortly. The city itself is lame & small, but eclectic. Restaurants, a museum, pubs, and lawyers surround city hall. Events (concerts, rallies, etc) are held at Von Braun center, named after Werner von Braun, a Nazi defector & genius scientist. He came to Huntsville & put this little place on the map. We have more engineers here per capita. Median household income is $90,000. I just bought a house. New construction, 3 bed, 2 bath in Toney (growing suburb). It was $270k. And that was a steal. Investors are swooping in and buying houses as quickly as possible so they can turn them into rentals. This will begin to take its toll sooner or later. This mainly occurs in the homes in the actual city & some of the older homes in Madison. They’ve created a market where you can’t buy a home unless it’s new construction. The house I bought was $239k one year ago in being built 5 minutes from my house. Thank Biden for that. I come from Independence MO & they don’t compare. I’ve been here 15 years and I love it. In that time I’ve also lived in bham which I actually loved even though I was assaulted (I fought him off). And I lived in Franklin for a year which is outside Nashville. Not crazy about Franklin of Nashville. We do have two universities in the area. One is an historically black college. So yes this place is so integrated & diverse. There seems to be very little racial tensions here, you’re going to have neighbors of all kinds of different backgrounds. This place attracts a lot of smart people who make a lot of money and pay a lot of taxes which allows the area to keep growing & stay beautiful. PLUS it keeps your home value growing, right now it’s outpacing inflation. I currently live in a very nice apartment, albeit a little small & noisy. It’s brand new, 2 bed 2 bath, $1600 a month. Rent prices skyrocketed during Covid. Although evictions didn’t stop here. We didn’t really shut down. We couldn’t. Many engineers here work on Redstone Arsenal or for consultants that contract with DoD. My ex husband has too secret security clearance & all I know is he designs missile guidance systems & makes a shit ton of money. With the country how it is today, I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather live than right here. That may change some day. But I feel safe here. I know where my neighbors stand. Edits: 9 months later I see minor mistakes so I fixed them :).
@@emkay888 I lived in Toney for 10 years. Although that is where I grew up most of my childhood, I like being closer to essential stores and businesses. Now I live outside of Atlanta and really enjoy only having to drive 7 minutes for a Walmart. I remember as a kid driving from toney to Huntsville to get to the Walmart on Sparkman Drive and it took like 30 minutes. And I didn’t mind that as a kid, but now enjoy less drive time. And the racial tension was there at my school. I went to Madison cross roads and sparkman middle. But mind you I haven’t lived there since 2014, so that was almost a decade ago now (time flies!). Huntsville is affordable though. But I realize now that I’m older that country life just isn’t my thing. I would have rather just lived in Huntsville instead of in Toney.
Great review. I have lived in Huntsville for little over a year, and it is the best decision I could’ve made as a young professional starting my career in a place that I could grow with. Great economy and job market. I think Huntsville is going to be big time in the near future.
@@ShepherdMinistry you can basically just use the eye test and tell. There's bad patches here and there throughout. South Huntsville is the only part with no bad parts, while North has the most bad. That's nothing against North though, there are some cool parts mixed in. And there are all the suburbs to the north, west, and east which are options as well if you don't mind a small drive.
I attended & played football at Alabama A&M University here in "The Ville" as we call it. I graduated & now work in Aerospace. I love Huntsville. It's an absolute great place raise a family & an impressive college/sports town as well on weekdays & Saturdays for HBCU football, Pro-Baseball, & Hockey Teams.
I live in Georgia now but Huntsville is my hometown. So happy to see Huntsville listed as #1 place to live in America. Thank you very much for the video tour of downtown!
I definitely moving back. I'm originally from Nashville and fell in love with Huntsville after a few daytrips there. I love how it has a big city feel while being small. Nashville is pretty much an over crowded tourist city now. I can't wait to go back 🥰
Nowhere near crowded with a whopping land area of 504sq miles and a low population density of 1420/sq mi. You have cities with much smaller land areas from Atlanta, Miami, DC, New York with population densities in the 3000sq to 29,000 per sq mile.
A lot of my colleagues who majored in Engineering at Tuskegee University got Engineering jobs at NASA. I use to travel all around Alabama when I was a Caseworker in Birmingham, Alabama in the 1990's but I never had the opportunity to visit Huntsville. What a beautiful place!
@@then8ivepatriot Yes, yes we do. The last shooting on the south end of town was a while ago and the robber got off one shot and his “victim” put him down.
Hey there, my wife and I are looking to move there in the upcoming months. What areas are good for apartment searching? Not sure which are the bad areas of the town.
I lived in Huntsville for about 8 or 9 months. It was definitely a change from small town Mississippi. Bridge Street is a must see for shoppers, and my favorite restaurant was probably Four Leaves Asian. The space and rocket center was one of the most talked about things, but I preferred just driving through the mountains and country side. The botanical gardens are amazing, and the Three Caves Quarry hiking trail was interesting. Several pawn shops and thrift stores. Huntsville has something for everyone.
Great video. You mentioned more things that most others miss when reviewing our little town. It is definitely not like anywhere else in Alabama and unlike many places in the US.
I have spent a fair amount of time in Huntsville, visiting colleagues at our office there and doing client work on Redstone Arsenal. Accurate video. Also, nice airport for a small regional, and good authentic German restaurants because of the descendants of the German engineers we brought there after WW2.
The German restaurants are awesome!! I was so disappointed when I moved to Birmingham and I couldn't find any. Also great Vietnamese food, and food in general.
Great diverse food. There is a HUGE hospital system based there so between the foreign doctors, engineers and military its is a very diverse area which really help encourage food diversity.
Thanks Nick for taking us to all the cities across the US the good the bad and the ugly. All very interesting. Its a delight to traverse the entire country virtually.
I love Huntsville. I lived there for awhile as a child with my grandparents. It was beautiful. Fireflies in the summer. A space museum. Green and plush. Great memories.
we live in a rural area outside of Huntsville :) the fireflies are back! I've been living overseas in Australia for ten years. The first fireflies I saw brought tears to my eyes :) Happy tears! So glad to be home!
I never looked for homeless people so hard before in my life and I don't know why? Because it was Alabama? Look at that city. It's clean and prosperous. I wish Seattle looked like that. Thanks Nick.
There is homeless in the south but they have rescue missions and other homeless shelters they can stay. The police will take them to those homeless shelters. They dont play around.
I grew up around here and definitely agree with a lot of these points. Live in huntsville now and there is so much to do with my wife and daughter. From local shops to large activities huntsville truly does have it all
As a Huntsvillian, I'd also like to point out that we're getting a huge amphitheater that's opening this Spring (2022)! I'm hoping to see some big bands adding Huntsville to their tours in the future! Edit: Looks like I'm gonna be working there when it opens :D
Network Engineer here from San Diego who'll be moving there soon. Btw there's more conservatives in California and probably San Diego than in your entire state.
@@joeyelliott3032 its not a problem. Just looking at California in contrast. Its people who bring their politics and policies that ruined California to a already great place. Not saying every californian shares those views, its just a generalization of the type of people who live there, complain about how things are. But voted for the policies and politicians who got them there. + Also another issue, they move to a good city, where housing is affordable, and pay above market value driving up the cost of housing and lowering the availability of houses causing the housing prices to skyrocket. It happened in my city not far from Huntsville. House prices were being purchased by many Californians over the pandemic and made it very difficult to find a home for me.
I work in Huntsville as a Glazer and I can assure you it is booming. We have so many new projects going up and alooooot of housing we are doing. If you move here, just help us keep it beautiful 👌
Lived here all my life wouldn't live anywhere else I have stayed in other places, Houston Texas, Syracuse New York,New York City, New Orleans , Atlanta Georgia for extended periods up to a year but I've always came back home to Huntsville Alabama. Best place in the country to live
A very nice video from Huntsville. Thank you! I was in this nice City in 1980/81 for a training course at the US Army in the Redstone Arsenal and 30 years after this in 2010 for a visit. Greetings from Germany.
All around the city of Huntsville is booming as well. Madison, Big Cove, and Harvest are areas I've seen growing in population. I really started noticing growth when I started my residential electrician job. I live out in Woodville, finally away from all of the traffic, hoodlums, and stuck-up rich folk in Madison/Huntsville lol. If people are wanting to move into north Alabama and still want a nice country area, but not far from Huntsville or Madison, then move out west of Huntsville. It takes me 30mins to get into Huntsville, which is super doable if you have a job in Huntsville or Madison (40mins). Housing prices are not bad out here either. You might be able to snag you a charming old home (early 1900's) for a good price.
I lived in Woodville and worked in Huntsville for 8 years. It was great until the meth junkies moved in across from me and put bullets through my windows 2 days after moving in. I would have stayed there forever if it wasn't for that.
I live in Toney. I wish we could get more restaurants and grocery stores. I have to drive way too far, and most good restaurants won't deliver to my house.
@@whitelighttrainwreck3021 same. Lived in Toney too. Went to MXR and SMS. Now as an adult I don’t like having to make a grocery trip for an hour thing. I like the suburbs more, and I haven’t been to toney since 2014.
I have lived in Huntsville, Al about three or four times over the years. I saw it grow from where "cotton was king," to the space center and hi-tech. It is indeed a well-planned city with many charms. Beautiful to visit and a wonderful place to call home.
I moved from the very rural south to Huntsville in 1984. I enrolled into UA-H and graduated from nursing school in 1987. I have moved a few times from Huntsville but always found a reason to come back. I simply love Huntsville. It has something for everyone. It is a versatile city and the people seem to be very open minded and accept people from all walks of life. It is so clean and modern. I enjoy just driving around this modern place. It is definitely not overrated. It's great reputation is very deserving to say the least. Come visit and you will see.
alabama is truly an amazing place, ive lived here all my life and i couldnt be happier, i love learning about the past and history about it. the culture is amazing,, people make alabama look like a bad place but its so beautiful and there are amazing places,, i live in downtown and there are no problems,, the mountains and lakes are so so so beautiful. the weather isnt the best but we have good days:)
I’m so glad I found your video and take on Huntsville! I’m aWV transplant since 1977 and it’s become fine to me! I love the culture, economy, low cost of living, friendly people, and sense of home and family. You did a wonderful job showcasing our pretty city with a small town feel. I kept waiting for you to use the oft said joke You know you live in Huntsville, Ala if your next door neighbor just might really be a rocket scientist! It’s true!
Huntsville looks really great, I grew up in Foley, and I really miss that town. But, it's got really big there to now. I guess magnolia springs would be my choice if I moved back to bammer. Nice episode Nick!
I moved to Foley a little over a year ago. Yes it's growing but still small town. The biggest thing that is happening is we are getting an aldi. It's the talk of the town.
I too grew up in Baldwin County, and it’s true that the vibe in Huntsville is totally different. When I go back to Foley, I can barely figure out where I am unless I stay north of 98/ west of 59. Magnolia Springs is growing too. Huntsville is a much bigger place of course, but I love it.
@@08elk1954 I lived on E. peachtree st, back in 79, the last lot on the left before Winbeglers nursery. It's all house now back in there now. I sorta figured Magnolia Springs was bursting as well. I use to go to trade day out that way with my dad, I love that whole area.
Loved the video Nick! My wife and have spent a lot of time in Huntsville and I’ve worked some assignments in Huntsville before I retired. We live in a small city named Oxford 60 miles east of Birmingham. We think you would our small downtown area. You and Jimmy Briggs are doing great work.
Southern people go out of their way to be as friendly and hospitable as possible to everyone. I've lived in the south all my life and I love everyone unless you give me a reason not to. Then it's on. 😉
I grew up here, and lived in Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago and Denver. I spent time in Rome, Berlin, San Jose, Costa Rica and Lima, Peru. I moved back in fall 2016, and although I have no love life here, there is truly no place like home!
Drove there from Chicago in 1990. Only the highways had been built and the Aerospace Center. This city was all built in the last 30 years. Look at the progress! Look at the cleanliness and quality. What an example of accomplishment. The best improvement in the South. Let’s not let it be ruined.
We visited Huntsville in August of 2019 and was very impressed. It is worth planning your road trip through the south to intentionally spend a few days in Huntsville. We were there for 3 days and still had not seen everything of interest in the area. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is not to be missed. Suggestion: I wish there was a brief drive through a couple of typical neighborhoods in the video. Many people look at these videos to get an idea what places to consider for moving. That's what I did before settling on Knoxville.
@@ShepherdMinistry We had been to Knoxville area many times before moving here and enjoyed our time in eastern Tennessee. We had never visited any part of Alabama before moving to Knox County. I'm not saying we prefer Huntsville but we realize it would have been an option.
I am very familiar with this city which has existed as one of the first cities in Alabama. It is not too large or small. The defense and space industry has brought people here from many states and countries. When I visit, I am amazed how much it has changed in a short time.
I wish the video touched on the nice international airport, the pro baseball and hockey teams. The video was well done but really only touched on a small portion of Huntsville. Also, less than two hour drive from Nashville and Chattanooga. We have lived in Huntsville the last 13 years and it’s been very nice. Cost of living is nice compared to large cities but astronomical compared to the rest of Alabama.

My hometown is amazing- so funny growing up In the 2000s, we couldn’t wait to get away from the small town. Now my other half and family are from all over the country living in my once tiny hometown. Love it.
My brother (retired military) and his family live here. After moving all over the United States, they love it and say they will never leave Huntsville! Bought a big, beautiful house in Madison! Love the Space and Rocket Center!
It’s not all that big. Nick drove around and around the same blocks over and over, just changing directions. The downtown isn’t tiny but the video gives a misleading impression.
My dad worked for NASA back in the 70's. We lived in Huntsville...it was a Great place to grow up! We moved to Florida when I was 13. I became a State Trooper after getting out of the Military and my first post was Huntsville, this was 1988. Me and my wife loved living in Huntsville...my son was born at Huntsville Hospital. I live in Jasper, AL now and my son is a Aerospace Engineer in Huntsville!
Hey that's awesome man. My son is studying to become an Aerospace Engineer also. My wife and I work remote so we moved to Huntsville 7 months ago to follow him and to get away from the big city. So far we love Huntsville but we're here mainly for his education. Continued good luck to you and your family.
I moved to Huntsville al when I was 11 in 1988. I love it here. Most people are friendly and nice. There is lots of stuff to do and see. Lots of restaurants and good places to shop. Oh and jobs... PLENTY of those to go around. If your a small business owner it's a great place to come. Huntsville and the surrounding areas have exploded over the years. And there's a lot more growth projected for the future. So if you're looking for a great place to live this is it.
Right! The humidity is unbearable!! In Houston as well. Enjoying life in Colorado right now where I can spend all day outside without feeling like I’m in a wet blanket
The review is great! Huntsville has been hastily thriving over the past 10 years. I do miss when everything was slower though, it made it actually feel like the south, somewhat.
Hey Patti, my wife and I are looking to move there in the upcoming months. What areas are good for apartment searching? Not sure which are the bad areas of the town.
A murder everyday, esp in north Huntsville, but yes much better than multiple murders everyday, like in Atlanta, Houston or Chicago, etc. Most are drug connected murders.
Lived here my whole life and have never heard “the silicon holler.” Also, as an engineer I can confirm that Huntsville is not a high tech place but rather a high defense/space place. If you’re looking into big tech or anything like that then Huntsville is not the place. And I do agree with everyone else that downtown is not representative of the entire city as the rest of the city is a lot more green and surrounded by mountains
well, it depends what you mean by "big tech". If you mean big internet companies that are less than 20 years old, no. My dad was an electrical engineer here his whole career and never worked for the space or defense industries, he worked in the consumer electronics and automotive industries. There are a lot of tech companies here that are not building missiles.
I grew up in Decatur and still have tons of family there, and I, too, have never heard anyone call it "the silicon holler". Probably because there aren't any "hollers" until you get over to Jackson and Dekalb Counties. 😅Also, my nephew works for ADTRAN in Huntsville, and I would argue that is a "tech" company.
@@omegamale7880 Lol Huntsville just became the largest city in Alabama. Not to mention there are more companies moving to Huntsville to continue the growth.
*"It's a really progressive area"* In other words, it's got woke liberal, Bolshevik cancer. So Huntsville will soon be chewed up and barfed out like every other metropolitan area in what was once the USA. Savor this video folks, and enjoy the last vision of a classic American city.
Yesss!!! This is my home🙌🏾 it's safe with a lot of opportunities and very diverse. We all respect each other and it's mostly a vibe when you interact with people no matter the race, gender, sexual orientation etc. Huntsville is lit!💯
Looks clean and neat, but as an American living in Europe for so long, most US cities look boring and lifeless, just cars, traffic and buildings. I suppose many people will move there and love it to death as the rents, real-estate and cost of living prices go up so will the living standards drop as like many US cities are no longer affordable or within reach of ordinary people.
After WWII our soldiers came back from Europe, having seen things they couldn't live with. No longer being able to deal, they moved out into the suburbs to get away from their "fellow man". So, don't talk to us about lifeless, we like it that way.
"Boring and lifeless" to you may mean "serene and calm" to someone else. To each their own. If you're happy in Europe, good for you. If someone else is happy in Huntsville, good for them.
@@mayormc Nick said he was there in November. It's cold here in November and we Southerners don't like cold weather so we tend to stay indoors. It would look entirely different it it were filmed, say, in April or the more moderate months. It gets VERY hot here, also. We don't go out as much during those insufferable times either. Power here was cheap, until Biden got elected, so it's less expensive to warm and cool our homes. It's just more comfortable to stay indoors during the weather extremes.
I love downtown Huntsville, but there is so much more to the city! There are great shopping centers, parks, a solid medical community, and beautiful retirement communities. The downtown area has charming older homes, but the suburb areas are growing fast and the surrounding rural areas are lovely. There are active churches of every denomination, museums, and concerts. Plus, Monte Sano Mountain has outstanding views and there is always a community event to attend.
One thing could make the Huntsville area better: More medical specialists. The population has grown, but the medical community hasn't expanded to meet the increased need. Patients have to wait a great deal of time for appointments with some specialists. There is a shortage of mental health professionals and dermatologists. (My rheumatologist--who felt I needed care after losing my brother and my mother last year--told me that they can't refer their patients for mental health support. So, I'm stuck with a less than stellar therapist.) I guess we may need more dentists as well. I recently started seeing a new dentist, but I'm having to wait a substantial amount of time for a follow up appointment. I just hope I don't have a dental emergency in between visits.
@@whitelighttrainwreck3021 Couldn't agree more! My family have had to go to places like Birmingham, Tennessee and even California for medical specialists!
As someone who's lived in Alabama all his life, I do have to say, Huntsville certainly, absolutely feels like, looks like, and is Alabama at heart. Just because it doesn't look like the most industrial parts of Birmingham or the most bricky parts of Montevallo doesn't mean that it doesn't look like the suburbs of Pelham or like the mountainous parts of Oneonta. Just because it doesn't have people shouting slurs at you doesn't mean that it doesn't have people greeting you in a Walmart randomly or the people reaching out to their neighbors to introduce themselves when someone new moves in. Just because it doesn't fit your idea of what Alabama "is" doesn't mean it isn't like Alabama. Loved the review other than that, and I really love how you lay out not just the best highlights to it but also the flaws and negatives so people can make informed viewpoints on the topic! Also love how you have the transcript in the description for those hard of hearing or deaf! Very delightful.
As someone born and raised in Alabama, I love and appreciate this comment! I'm currently living up North and the number of negative comments I get when I tell folks where I'm from is saddening. Ppl just hear the negatives and the not positives!
Definitely doesn't feel and look like Alabama. I'm not from there but the rest of Alabama outside of Huntsville, Birmingham and Lake Martin feels dead and boring.
Huntsville is like a suburb for a big city but there is no big city. I recently visited my sister in Columbus and realized how much I missed being able to walk places after 10ish years in Huntsville. Because the city is so spread out it's a 30 minute car trip to anywhere, don't even think about living here without a car.
The film is hardly representative of Huntsville. The neighborhoods are actually much nicer. It is a very spread out city extending nearly 30 miles across. Most people are pretty nice. It is very high tech and tends to appear a bit "not cultured" by most major cities because it is largely families in population. It is also completely "Classless" I don't mean being rude or such but you really cannot tell one's social class by appearance or interaction. It is probably the only city on earth you can be rich and not need bodyguards and still not need to be afraid to live.
@@chocolatechipslime in all honesty they don't. I know of several multi millionaires that lived modestly and had nothing overly expensive in terms of vehicle. They had like outbacks and utility vehicles mostly
Yes, I was born and raised in the area. People just live where they like to! Some much there is so truly integrated. When I moved to metro Atlanta, that's when I saw true classism and certain amounts of segregation. People would tell e what groups lived in this suburb, that area, and so forth. I was shocked. 😊
I've been many times & I love it.
Agreed

Hey Joseph! Which areas of Huntsville are bad? North? South? Looking for apartments and don’t live in the area.

It's an absolute great place raise a family & an impressive college/sports town as well on weekdays & Saturdays for HBCU football, Pro-Baseball, & Hockey Teams.
Heard nothing but good bout Huntsville. It is now the largest city in Alabama based on both area and population.
I’m relocating with one of those companies mentioned in just a few months. Thank you very much for the video. Very helpful.

Hello good morning
Hey there, my wife and I are looking to move there in the upcoming months. What areas are good for apartment searching? Not sure which are the bad areas of the town.
I lived in Huntsville as a child in the late 80s and I've been trying to get back ever since. I love Huntsville.

I never looked for homeless people so hard before in my life and I don't know why? Because it was Alabama? Look at that city. It's clean and prosperous. I wish Seattle looked like that. Thanks Nick.
Homelessness is growing here don't be fooled!
the rest of their country puts their homeless in homes
It’s growing, believe me. North Huntsville especially. Either that, or they are being shipped off to Birmingham
There is homeless in the south but they have rescue missions and other homeless shelters they can stay. The police will take them to those homeless shelters. They dont play around.

Hello
Shh, don’t talk about it. You wouldn’t want Californians to find out this place exist
I'm in California watching this video right now..
Why not
They already know
Network Engineer here from San Diego who'll be moving there soon.

A+ video!
Great footage and music, really cool to see it when the Tinsel Trail is up.
Woodville is east, not west of Huntsville. Although you are absolutely correct about the rest

Proud Huntsvillian here!
Drove there from Chicago in 1990. Only the highways had been built and the Aerospace Center. This city was all built in the last 30 years. Look at the progress! Look at the cleanliness and quality. What an example of accomplishment. The best improvement in the South. Let’s not let it be ruined.
The city has the worst drivers. no one knows how to drive. All residents must be forced to retake the driving test
Rapid growth will ruin it rapidly.
We visited Huntsville in August of 2019 and was very impressed. It is worth planning your road trip through the south to intentionally spend a few days in Huntsville. We were there for 3 days and still had not seen everything of interest in the area. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is not to be missed.

I am very familiar with this city which has existed as one of the first cities in Alabama. It is not too large or small. The defense and space industry has brought people here from many states and countries. When I visit, I am amazed how much it has changed in a short time.

Also, less than two hour drive from Nashville and Chattanooga. We have lived in Huntsville the last 13 years and it’s been very nice.
I too have lived here my whole life and have never heard it called that.
Agreed, this is the Rocket City
Google and Facebook data centers are establishing themselves here in HSV. So the tech industry is here. It is just a baby. ;)
well, it depends what you mean by "big tech".

Europe is a continent. Which country are you in?
"Boring and lifeless" to you may mean "serene and calm" to someone else. To each their own. If you're happy in Europe, good for you. If someone else is happy in Huntsville, good for them.
I was also thinking how boring and lifeless it all looked.
My Dad lives in Huntsville and I usually visit him twice a year. Man I love it there
I love downtown Huntsville, but there is so much more to the city!
The older homes are gorgeous! But expensive cause of the history in downtown Huntsville.
@@whitelighttrainwreck3021 Couldn't agree more! My family have had to go to places like Birmingham, Tennessee and even California for medical specialists!
The route you drove through downtown I've did so many times on my longboard ..I might head down tonight and skate it . nice vid keep it up
I so badly want to go on a drive with you mic'd up and help with narration
@EconomicNinja Welcome! I really like your videos!!!
Thank you for this video, I was thinking of moving to Huntsville. THis was really helpful
I was stationed there in the Army in 1975. An eye opening wonderful experience.
One of my friends did live there. I liked the place. Would not mind living there at all. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
People forget also that a lot of us carry…
@@hunterbrown5150what do you mean about that???
Definitely doesn't feel and look like Alabama. I'm not from there but the rest of Alabama outside of Huntsville, Birmingham and Lake Martin feels dead and boring.
@@vilheard3030 Huntsville is dead also
I can’t wait to move there this year!!!!
❤❤❤🥰
Huntsville is like a suburb for a big city but there is no big city.
I recently visited my sister in Columbus and realized how much I missed being able to walk places after 10ish years in Huntsville.
Because the city is so spread out it's a 30 minute car trip to anywhere, don't even think about living here without a car.
My heart feels so warm after watching this video. I know this will be my new home. ANy tips anyone?
Don't came to this city. It's the most disgusting city and state in the world
The film is hardly representative of Huntsville.
I’ve noticed that about living in Alabama, never been to Huntsville but it seems a lot of the people with money don’t flaunt it.
That was never an issue in Huntsville
Paul,
I live here now.. and yes... that's true..
Nothing about Huntsville is Big city or lil city.. lol.
This is not a city.. I don't get why it's called that..
It's call the Metropolitan part of AL.. which doesn't fit to me either.. lol.
But hey I'm from L.A. CALI....
YOUR RIGHT THO. MY PARENTS ARE VERY WELL OFF.. WE LIVE IN A WELL OFF NEIGHBORHOOD WITH EVERY RACE, CULTURE, ETHNICITY, WE HAVE A AMAZING POOL/ AND POOL HOUSE.. IT'S LITERALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.. FROM THE STREET.. IT JUST LOOK LIKE ONE OF THE HUGE HOUSES WE ALL HAVE... THE ONLY TELL, TELL WOULD BE THE HUGE PARKING LOT/ WITH MANY LINED/MARKED SPACES and the BEAUTIFUL PLAY PARK THAT ON GRASS NEXT TO THE POOL.. BUT YEA.. SO IF YOU WANNA HAVE A POOL PARTY, BABY SHOWER, WHATWVER EVENT THERE... THERE'S A WHOLE HOUSE.. WITH A BIG GORGEOUS POOL AND PARK OUT BACK WITH BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPING & PLUSH GREEN VELVETY GRASS... THERE'S A BRIDGE THAT WE USE.. IF WE WANT TO WALK VS DRIVE AROUND THE CORNER.. IT'S A LIKE A TRAIL/BRIDGE.. I DONT KNOW HOW TO SAY IT..LOL.. IT RUNS TO THE POOL FROM THE STREETS BEHIND THAT STREET..
BUT YES.. I AGREE.. NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO.. YOU WON'T KNOW WHOSE WELL OFF/RICH HERE..
RIGHT... IT'S NOT LIKE SECTIONED OFF BY CLASS. LOL.. FOLK JUST LIVE WHERE THEY WANT TO LIVE.
I WAS SHOCKED.. THOUGH.. TO SEE NEIGHBORHOOD/MINI WALMARTS.. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF ACTUAL NEIGHBORHOODS..LOL.. ALL THE PLACES I'VE LIVED DIDN'T HAVE THAT.. NOW WE ALSO HAVE PUBLIX'S IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD RIGHT ACROSS FROM.. THE NEIGHBORHOOD WALMART.. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WAS THE REAL NAME.. I THOUGHT PEOPLE WERE JUST SAYING THAT BECAUSE IT'S LITERALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Stay away from North side of Huntsville. It's blk ghetto area
I have alot of family that have migrated to Huntsville. Thanks for the video!
❤️My sweet home Alabama!Love from Fairhope❤️
Fairhope🥰…beautiful city!
Yess when I was in school we used to take field trips to the space and rocket center every year it’s massive.
Alabama is far better than people give it credit for. It's so beautiful from the mountain regions up north to the beaches in the south. Birmingham has a great art museum. There are some award winning golf courses covering the entire state. I wish people didn't rag on Bama so bad.. PS I'm from GA but just a hop and skip from Bama so I'm so Alabama crazy just defending my state lol
You should WANT people to think it's bad so they stay away...
I live just outside of Birmingham, ten minutes from downtown but also ten minutes from so much nature. Mountain biking, hiking, kayaking during the day and a great choice of concerts at night. I'm good right here. Huntsville is very nice tho.
@@garyroberts2563 a “mountain” is over 1,000ft, and Monte Sano just misses the mark. It’s still a beautiful landscape though
@@garyroberts2563 they are foothills. I have lived in HSV my entire life.
@@garyroberts2563 There are mountains in North Alabama, I drive over one and past Little River on my way to work every day. They aren't the Smokies but they are beautiful and are definitely mountains. All over North Alabama are falls, canyons, mountain lakes, waterfalls...it's beautiful. Ssshhhh though, we don't want to bring a lot of people in and ruin it.
Such a Beautiful city my wife and I plan to move there next year and can't wait it looks so comforting
It's the most disgusting city and state in the world
Lived here for about 5 months. Nice place
Seeing this video is so surreal to me as an Alabamian who grew up in another close city and moved to Huntsville at the start of high school.
Hello Rebekah good morning
I was there for four years...agree! Denton, Texas and Huntsville, Alabama are the best kept secrets in the USA!
I am from Athens/Huntsville area. I have lived in Atlanta since summer 1995. I have visited Denton. And yes, it's a great city too!
Yessss!! Currently live here and I love it🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m trying to get my subscribers up too💯 keep it up ❤️
Denton? All I hear is about how it has a bunch of construction now
@@Tikitackfouls Yes, that's the inevitable fallout from the Texas boom. The Denton hinterlands are being paved-over with McMansions. This is primarily evident in the areas to the south and southeast of the city. I always loved the synergistic mix of cowtown and academia in Denton. It kept both sides better centered.
My sister lived there when she was in the Army, she loved it! She would move back in a heartbeat!
