Today, we have regional differences, bizarrely unused endings and secret characters galore.

Bad endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world, something happens that, at best, creates a bittersweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win, despite everything that happened throughout your adventure. Bad endings don't give you any second chances, you screwed things up for everyone and you must pay dearly...

About the red/white screen for the dog attack, the red screen was in the Japanese original, it was changed to white in the US version, while the EU version (different publisher) just kept it as red.
Really hammers in that your dog mauled the *mayor* to death.

When I got that ending, I laughed my ass off, I didn't expect the game to actually allow me to let my dog murder the mayor
I wonder if whois has played Story of Seasons: Friends Of Mineral Town since its release. In it you have Cliff whom is in the clinic after he faints in the Rose Plaza in Winter Year 1 on a Snowy day. Basically if you collapse while he is in the clinic he gets kicked out of bed to make room for you and just gets dumped on the floor, and Elli drags him away. (This happens in the original Friends of Mineral Town as well.) The event deserves whois' thoughts.
The second bad ending is worse.
Put a lvl 100 toadstool in the pot, and you faint because it tastes bad.
Instead of you waking up and everyone being mad, the credits roll.
You just killed everyone.
That face at 0:42 made it even creepier. Looking at the mayor with that blank emotionless stare while their dog murders him... yeah, Harvest Moon is ****ed up sometimes.
I'm guessing that, if whoisthisgit wanted to make an ending for Tails on Critical Depth, I'd imagine that it'd feature Tails wanting to become a great hero in his own right like his role model, Sonic the Hedgehog, but the aliens decide that, if Tails were to become the Sonic Universe's greatest hero, then they'd have to remove Sonic the Hedgehog from the picture, much to Tails's grief.
I see that you want to become as great as your Hedgehog Friend, Sonic.
It is done. You are now Sonic the Second.
Then, Sonic will betray Tails and Killed him easily, suddenly Sonic's appearance turned into green thing like scourge the Hedgehog...
There will be no Heroes, only Deception and Chaos!

Nick trying to pull the "I'm the protagonist" card that most RPG heroes use to get out of hot water. It didn't work out for him.
Nick was a total monster by killing off all the survivors from what I have heard.
I have just realised something. If you are Nick, does that mean you are a monster as well?

I never managed to play Harvest Moon DS but I've played the PS1 and Gameboy versions to know that it's a relatively peaceful and light-hearted game. So seeing the character you control attacking the mayor with an axe and a watering-can was more shocking to me than the dog killing him.
I'm used to seeing it, I've started a new game like, 4 times. Plus, the context of the mayor beforehand makes it completely justifiable that you want to murder the bastard.
I never played HM DS so what's the context?

@@nightynightlayla374 and Slick Ricky i guess; he basically waltzes onto your property to give you the tutorial, but then starts insulting your property and how awful it looks compared to the other peoples' he's visited. Plus, he's just kind of a dickhead throughout the game in general.

One category of Creepy Bad endings you could cover are those surprisingly dark endings in otherwise funny/goofy games. Particularly ones that have multiple endings, including “bad” ones that are more silly/not taken seriously...and then there will be THAT ending that is 100% serious and grim.
The Henry Stickmin Collection is the most recent example I can think of, but I remember Monster Prom also having a couple endings like that. Disgaea as well, especially a certain one in Disgaea 2.
Another addition of Creepy Good endings could be fun too.
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter is also one that works pretty well under that category.
i am curently playing disgaea 5, and the fact that you say that the 2 have a creppy bad ending make me fear the ending
nikokuma well Tbf you have to REALLY go out of your way to get the worst ending in D2. It has very specific conditions and the final boss triggered by it is Level 2000, so it’s not an ending you get by accident.

It kinda makes sense that Nick would be the Dead Rising protagonist who gets the endings which see him rightfully beaten and abandoned for his actions. It's shown throughout the game how much he cares for his friends, so it stands to reason the player would be punished for straying from that path.
I would think that since Nick killed so many people himself that Katey would have referenced Hell rather than Heaven.

Thank goodness the dead rising 3 ending was scrapped. In the actual game, you could kick all their asses, but here you have mr. scardey pants trying to wiggle away before getting killed.

Man, suddenly I feel the urge to re-watch the original vid. I need to see the other endings again, and I want to see sweet naive Nick instead of that sociopathic jerk version of him.
But wow... I have no recollection whatsoever of Critical Depth... And I watch EVERY SINGLE CBE that doesn't spoil a game I'm playing or planning on playing... I guess it didn't leave a huge impact on me...
Anyway, I don't necessarily think Phatt would have died. Knowing what will happen, he should simply avoid trying to get up (or even not knowing, really - I mean, how WOULD he get up). Then he'd quickly have to mind control the most qualified people to tend to him immediately. He'd sort it out, somehow. Obviously, he wouldn't be able to move anymore, but oh well...
Also, does Abaddon care about being destroyed in the process? Depending on how much sentience they gained during the game, they may simply prioritize the "mission" and consider being destroyed as acceptable. Not to mention, they may or may not approve of the aliens' plan of sending their central unit for revision and upgrades. Isn't that a win-win situation for Abaddon? A full on good ending for the character, albeit bad for humanity.

There's really no justification for what he has done so he's trying to say anything to worm his way out of this situation he brought on himself.
It may also be a representation of people who played the game like GTA or Red Dead Redemption, thinking they could do anything no matter how heinous and not be punished in the end for it.

Bokujō Monogatari being the name of the original Harvest Moon series in Japan.

River City Rival Showdown has the Story Incomplete ending, where after Kunio's defeat the entirety of River City is overtaken by Reiho's gang. Or something like that.
And there's also one of the endings where Kunio stops Reiho's gang from overtaking Nekketsu HS, and Yamada who was watching the battle unfold from the distance gets called weird by three guys... Who soon gets a taste of his Dark Powers.
It just struck me that the menu artstyle for Critical Depth, alonside some of the character portraits, have a strong resemblance to Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012. Are they from the same producer?

How would your tails ending play out?
Something like "You've always inspired to be a hero like Sonic, and we were only too happy to comply" at which point, the close up on Tails' face pans out and you can see his face has been (crudely) surgically stitched onto Sonic's body.

@@whoisthisgit I was thinking something along the lines of "You have followed the footsteps of the hero known as Sonic the Hedgehog and have always desired to become like him. And so, to ensure that you become like him, you will follow in his footsteps and face the challenges he has faced."
And then pans out to show Tails pitted against a foe that only someone with Sonic's specific set of skills could defeat, like Dark Gaia or Perfect Chaos (or maybe even The End), as Tails seems moments away from death.
Or alternatively: "You have followed the example of the hero known as Sonic the Hedgehog and have always desired to become like him. Making you become like him is something we can do with great ease. Enjoy your new life as Sonic the Hedgehog."
And then the camera, that had been going up slowly, reveals that Tails had been surgically turned into something akin to Sonic...but the somewhat quick work made him look like a grossly patchwork that looks more like Sanic, "Ugly Sonic" or, worse, Sonichu.
