- What is my opinion about E85 and flex fuel? Also why have so many cars had motor failures with E85?

Been waiting for this one.. great video
Thanks!
Awesome info. Nice breakdown and easy to understand.
question, Turbo back (catted), front mount intercooler, tgv egr deletes flex fuel kit, dw300 fuel pump, AOS street, turbo sump, ebcs, cobb lf bypass valve estimating around 350 whp, I know the tuner can go higher but I'm not trying go above 350 torque.. Running that set-up with stock airbox. Good idea or bad idea? The debate about intake vs stock airbox. I'm at the final step debating to get pro tuned without the intake (grimmspeed) or with one.
The stock air box is a restriction when it comes to that power level. I believe the Intake is good for almost 20 whp at that power level. I would 100% get an Intake. Plus it sounds so much better with an intake.
very interested in this topic
+LastHumansGarage Do you have any further questions about it?
+Derek Welker still watching..
very informative. not finding the flex fuel kit on cobbs website.
It's not out for the 15+ wrx yet. Soon though.
I've ordered the Delicious Flex Fuel kit for my WRX. It will be out for the Cobb AP before June.
And it is only $500
+MySubie16 there has been issues with that kit. Not every single one but I've seen some issues with it. I'll be sticking to Cobb when it's released.
Considering the flex fuel. Best of both worlds. money money money. I still have to get all my stage 2 parts installed. Not sure why I'm looking into ff lol.
-Slurmdaddy - on a WRX, you can get a safer tune with flex fuel with better numbers VS stage 2 power bolt ons alone with a tune.
Skip Stage 2......just go Flex from beginning. Don't be like me and safe yourself thousands of dollars lol
I wanted E85, but i've been seeing horror stories of rod failures. I'm at 326whp and worried that E85 would give me too much torque for the rods to handle
+bishvan Im in the same boat. I think with a good tune you would be fine but I am not going to risk it. Im happy with the performance so far.
I believe (here in CO at least) that E85 must contain at least 70% ethanol. Still a large variation in terms of ethanol concentration.
+Fart Knocker A lot of places around NY specify that the minimum is 75% but it is known to be less at certain times of the year. Either way a 10-15% difference than what you were tuned on is too much of a difference for me to feel comfortable. In my opinion Flex Fuel is necessary unless you are running VP C85 and it is a race car.
Do you upgrade fuel pump or fuel injector too?
Will it work with just flex fuel kit?
I did not run flex fuel so I’m not sure. The flex fuel kit should tell you if it’s required or not. Cobb had a kit awhile ago but not sure if they still do or not.
I've been thinking about modifying any gasoline motorcycle I would own, to not only be ok with gasoline, but also moonshine. I've been thinking about making my own fuel, because I don't want to be dependent on gas stations & foreign oil, and I'm very mad at the oil industry, fucking up nature, or people's livelihoods directly, when just getting oil.
I'm excited about buying or building a full electric motorcycle, but I want it to have high performance & range, meaning it will be expensive. So it's better, for now, for me to invest in internal combustion. And I'm still excited about turbocharging any engine I would own. I'm also excited about turbocharging, because I recently learned, from the car passion channel, about 2step & 3step, flatfoot shifting. A motorcycle's quickshifter, that disables fuel & spark, will be just like a car flatfoot shifting, keeping the throttle open between up shifts, boost recovers instantly. I will only need a Blow Off Valve, when I'm slowing down or stopping.
So what do you think about running any gas engine on a mixture of (hopefully) pure alcohol, and SeaFoam addictive, to deal with any moisture, keep the engine clean, and maybe lubricate like gasoline, which I don't understand as an issue. What lubrication property does gasoline have? Motor oil & oil rings aren't good enough? Do the valve seats need lubrication? I don't understand.
Anyway, I'm new to flexfuel, and looking into it now. This is one of the first videos I've watched about it.
clark has an e85 tune the adjust itself to ethanol content im currently using his 50/50 half 91 half e85 havent had not one issue 10k plus miles on his tune.
If you're using a tune that is meant for a 50/50 blend it is not flex fuel. Are you running a flex fuel kit? If not there is no way to have a tune that self adjusts to ethanol content on these cars. A flex fuel sensor is required.
Im not flexible fuel just running 50/50 map tho ecutek sells the kit already
+ricardo vega that's what I was saying though. 50/50 or full e85 doesn't adjust at all for a low ethanol content if you get some. Ecutek does sell them but then you have to run ecutek. I'll stick with Cobb when they release theirs.
Looks like Cobb is having a lot of issues with the flex fuel kit for the DIT cars. Other parts are failing. I'm currently on Ron Watsons E40 tune, so far about 10k miles in, running great. Once I get TGV deletes, EGR, catless down pipe, etc I'm going to bump E70 and pray lol.
I ended up going with meth injection instead. Hopefully making a video soon about it.
For a 2015+ WRX you don't have to worry about pushing more fuel through the injectors. Because it doesn't have any.
Tyler Savin the Wrx does have injectors though?
Derek Welker no it's direct injection.
Tyler Savin direct injection still has injectors. The problem with direct injection is you cannot upgrade to bigger ones due to the cost
Derek Welker Well it's more of a port controlled by a high pressure fuel pump no? There aren't any injectors for sale in the WRX parts section anywhere.
Tyler Savin no they are injectors. Just not the same type as port injectors. The high pressure fuel pump is separate from the injectors. The reason there isn’t any for sale is because replacements are very expensive and not worth it to make aftermarket ones. It’s easier and simpler to make a port injection kit for upgrades like what p&l has.
What do you think about these ethanol content readers, are they worth it?
harley Rider they could work well but what are you going to do with the reader? Flex fuel is nice because it adjusts the tune based on the content that the analyzer sees. If you just have the sensor it's not going to do you much good except tell you what content you have.
Thanks for the reply, I was just wondering. Seems like a lot of money for one.
watch "pump the movie" on Netflix. awesome documentary
Thank you for this! Best documentary I've seen in a while.
does flex fuel even adjust for shiity E85? if i fill up on lets say E85 thats really E50 will flex even accomidate for that? i was under the impression it was just adjusting 93/E85 not adjusting for bad E85
Pas B yes it does. It reads the ethanol content and adjusts. That's the point of it.
It will do both. The first time I pumped e85, then started the car it was at around 64% ethanol once I gave it a min to configure. They say to run 91 or 93 every third fill up depending where you live, to keep everything nice and lubed.
flex fuel and e85 is the same right?? thanks
Not necessarily. Flex fuel is the tunes ability to adjust to varying ethanol levels. So it can seamlessly transition between full E85 and 91/93. E85 is the fuel but flex fuel is more or less an ability of the computer to run everything from E85 to pump gas. Running straight E85 or a specific blend requires you to maintain the same consistency of E85 and pump gas or trusting the consistency of E85 between every station/fill up. Flex fuel will accommodate for varying ethanol content.
سلام باز نمیشون
you look crippy AF lol
have you thought becoming an actor? horror flicks need you
crippy?..
That was fucking rude
