New subscriber, just wanted to say thanks for doing these, your video on Hexplore It was one of the main reasons I purchased it, and count the days till it arrives.
This game seems very similar to Barbarian Prince( boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1631/barbarian-prince), which I liked because it had lots of crazy Arabian nights style encounters + combat, but some difficulty throttling issues and too much randomness. How does Hexplore It compare? Does it keep the good and throw out the bad?
I caught the connection to Barbarian Prince as I played as well - I am sure it was an influence to the design. This one however felt more like a true designer co-op. It had good leveling up processes, enough of a random setup to keep me into it, and the ability for another player to play the "bad guy"
I enjoyed your video, but the description of combat was clear as mud. Actually performing a complete round of combat with 2x players v. monster showing turn order would have told me everything I wanted to know.
That's the thing there isn't really a turn order, heroes declare their actions, roll the enemy die, then resolve it all at once in the order of your choosing. No real turns
first was interested in the game but : - movement being either "1" or "more than 1" with a risk seems highly annoying, - food ... FOOD??? so there's bad conseuquences if you don't eat enough food? unnecessary game mechanic those 2 are really bad for me, then have the black market show afetr you kill a boss ... totally illogical tthematically, AND it's a random draw??? some nice elements, but some offputting ones too
What's so bad about food? For me it adds the feeling of having to prepare for a perilous journey and there's cool mechanics like enemies stealing food during combat, or you can become immune to hunger and never need to eat again!

Thank you for doing such a thorough review of the game!!
Very nice review! Will be keeping an eye on your vids. Cheers!
Great review. Thank you.
No items or armor cards?
Might be hard for you to say, but do you think this is a game that will be fun for players who aren't into D&D and other traditional RPG games?
If you like co-ops or solo games, I think you will like it - especially ones that are heavily thematic.

Not much for visual candy.
