I can't believe that phone is still going? My mom had that phone for years and finally the battery died to nothing and wouldn't charge at all? That phone was one of the better devices by google.
A common misconception. The most useful range in general photography is the 24-105mm range, especially for people shots. The Pixel 8 covers the important 67-112 range by cropping its 50MP 25mm lens. It is thus using a lens with an 84° field of view (fov) to cover the 34° fov of the 67mm. This drops the Pixel's 50mp to under 6mp for resolving images the S24 does with 10mp. This is why in this important 67-112mm range the S24+ outperforms the Pixel 8 decisively. From 113mm, of course, the Pixel 8's x5 zoom kicks in and outperforms the S24+. So, which is better for one is a function of how much shooting one does in the 67-112mm range or the range beyond. For general photography though, that 67-112mm range is more heavily utilized and important than beyond. So in my book, the S24+ wins.
Both of these are the best, but the Pixel seems to have more accurate colors in photos. But Samsung is more willing to give 0% financing to people with bad credit with low monthly payments (under $40/month) than Google is so actually a Galaxys24+ may be more affordable in real life even while being absolutely more expensive because it's relatively more attainable and more affordable in real life conditions in the short terms -- which is reality. Many people would take a long time to save $1,000 to buy a phone in cash, but they could get a brand new Galaxy s24+ shipped to them before saving and get to use it with low monthly payments during all that time they would have otherwise had nothing, and they include cases and tempered glass screen protectors into the total financing. The Google store is not as lienient with financing. And that's a very practical factor that makes the decision in many cases. Korea is all about financing purchases, and that culture works to our benefit here with the Galaxy 24+.
Samsung sells in more countries too with warranty. Google doesn't want to sell anything in my country. And Samsung accepted my A52 A5G with a broken back cover and power button for trade-in 300USD. So yeah, try to match that Google. Google's copying features from OneUI anyway lol.

In my opinion, this is a lopsided comparison. The Samsung Galaxy s24 plus is far and away a better device. To that end, let's address the heart of the beast. The Samsung utilizes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 generation 3 chipset; flagship processor. Conversely, the Google pixel 8 Pro offers the tensor G3 chipset; hi-tier mid-range processor. Apart from that, they match up fairly well feature for feature. Still, while I prefer Google's software it's not enough to overcome the inferior processor. Strictly speaking, I decided to pass on both of these in favor of the OnePlus 12. It offers far better specifications, more value and is a much better device. In addition, it offers an ergonomic curved glass screen that has a far more premium look than a flat screen. Not to mention, neither of the devices in your comparison can compete with the battery power and charging speeds of the oneplus 12. Obviously, other people are entitled to their opinions but, I stand by mine.
