Finally Samsung got up to speed with update lifetime with this model. I had my eye on S22 and S23 but with their limited update lifetime they make little sense in 2025, considering that I like to keep my phone in use until it's no longer able to cope with my demands
I went with the s24. One thing that gets annoying for me is the s24 is uncomfortable to hold because of the sharp edges. There's also a lot of bloated software. I'm trying to get used to the OS Samsung after using Google for years.
I bought the S24 then I was sitting in a darkly lit restaurant with heavy wood textures, warm lighting and then a very bright kitchen. Met my buddy for lunch and he had just bough the Pixel 8 and we both started taking pictures. The Pixel 8 blew the S24 out of the water. The S24 had washed out images and altered the colored and messed with saturation and color in an unacceptable way. The Pixel 8 was and is a clear winner for primary camera and far more accurate. The software of the Pixel 8 is just far more simpler and and easier to use and seamless compared to the S24 which is not what I would call bad but for most people it is just too many settings and just doesn't work as good in real world use. For the screen the Pixel 8 feels like you are looking at an OLED rich and bright screen with better app icons and the S24 just feels flat and washed out to me. I took back the S24 and got the Pixel 8 and I am much happier. By the way the Pixel 8 feels much faster regardless of the processor. The only win for me for the S24 for me personally is the light and the weight which is definitely better IMO even thought the rounder edges of the Pixel 8 are more comfortable in hand.
I've owned an S10+ since Dec 2019 and it is in outstanding condition but lately, I have been thinking about a Pixel 8 (or 8a, depending on the current deals). But I RARELY take photos and because of that, I'm almost sure I'll regret after if I do the trade-in.
Hey, same here. Have owned a s10+ since 2019, but lately have been experiencing heating issues and lags from time to time. Hopefully the pixel would age better.
I'm fan of Google I have purchased so far Pixel 3,6,6a, all of them give me a heating problem after full space of memory.. whenever it's out of storage..your pixel will start getting heat on extreme levels...I'm afraid to buy 8...the reason I want to buy pixels 8..coz all my previous pixel phones were up to mark in camera.
Thing about camera comparison You can always get google cam on Samsung so you get to live both worlds But you can't download telephoto lense on google So samsung wins for me
Last year after about six years of iPhones I decided to add an Android phone to my day to day life; not replace but add an Android. I spent the first ten years of my tech life with Android but switched to Apple after holding an iPhone 7 in my hand for the first time and then putting it through its paces. Apple just impressed me with its "Mercedes like" feel and quality. Last year I thought it would be handy to have a spare phone in case of damage or loss of my iPhone so went with the Pixel 8 256GB. Even though my last Android was a Samsung Galaxy edge back in 2017 I think, I chose Google's Android to get me back into the Android world for one big reason: the bloatware on the Samsung Galaxy was quite off putting. I wanted "pure Android" and that's what you get with the Pixel. Samsung loads its phones up with so much stuff that keeps getting in the way that it's very bothersome. My daughter used to have a Samsung too and complained about the same thing.
other people that did battery tests on all models of the s24 found that the regular 24 did just as good as the others if not better because the battery did not have to support such a battery sucking screen
Mostly enjoying the call screening feature for spam calls and unknown numbers on the pixel. Going to upgrade to the 8 for the human voice, better night view for concerts, and AI pictures for the family pictures.
The janky scrolling on the Pixel 8 fatally cripples it. No one seemed to touch on this issue in reviews but it's a handset killer. Until it's resolved, (if it even can be) the phone is dead on arrival. I'm amazed it was ever released in this state. Shame on you Google.
@@r444t6 Hi mate. I'm not actually certain. I have a friend with a Pro who reports no issues but I've read on forums that Pro users also have the issue. 🤷♂️

@sulaman4280 the hardware in my experience was a better experience than a galaxy s23... and the tensor chip was on par with a galaxy s23... so idk what problems yall are having
@@JaxinJonez the hardware is old the chipset storage speed is 3.0 compared s24s storage speed of 4.0 only for 256gb model ultra sonic 3d finger print over pixels 2d optical. The samsung is better, but it is more expensive. An 8 Pro on sale for $730 is cheaper than an s24 at full price... though perhaps with 256gb the s24 is still cheaper.
I also thought that but currently X14 is about 900€ in EU, while Pixel 8 is 550€ and s24 (exynos) 700€ so taken all into consideration, pixel is the best bang 4 buck

Pixel 8, one of the best values of the year

There isn't a ton of bloatware on s24. Did you get it from a carrier or straight from Samsung?

As a tech, the Pixel is better. Pictures are great. User interface is great. Its rugged. Good support. Just a far more utilitarian design.
Rugged my ass lmao, pretty sure it's made of weaker material

Advice on which one has the better cell signal service? I have the pixel 6a and it often misses incoming calls. Which never happened with my pixel 3a.
Pixel 7 and 8 should be good with signal. I've had both. Pixel 6 - only pixel to give me problems.
I have no issue with pixel 8
What about the AI features and the "smart" in these smart phones?
gimmick

IMO the only reason to consider these two is if you want a smallish Android phone. Otherwise they are both insanely overpriced vs the OnePlus 12
one plus has 4 years support vs 7. Therefore the P8 & S24 are better value
Oneplus 12 in EU costs about 1000Є for 12/256, while s24 is 100-200Є cheaper
The oneplus is only IP65 , these are both IP68 which is important for some

the galaxy a24 is a better phone
cheaper phones than the pixel 8 include
nothing phone 2a and the oneplus 12r. There u go
