Having watched interviews with both of them. He has a habit of answering her questions for her, instead of letting her talk even when she's comfortable answering them herself. He's clearly someone who likes to hear himself talk.

Yeah that always rubbed me wrong on their Joe Rogan interview. He was just incessantly poking his head in and deflecting attention from Rose to himself and butting in to answer on her behalf. Don't get me wrong, even with all the grooming allegations, he seemed like a funny guy but in a way where he just seems too funny, you know? To the point where it seems like he genuinely is hiding something by trying to come across so likeable. Hell, maybe I'm looking too deep and he is a nice guy but with the allegations and the evidence of their whole dynamic, it does make you wonder. Like that recent Ariel interview where Rose apologised and came off the camera so that Pat himself could speak right to the camera for the rest of the interview. He doesn't seem to realise we're here for Rose, not him and it gets really annoying watching their interviews. It's like a double act. You come for Rose but you get Pat Barry with a little hint of Rose.

Carla did try to go forward but wasn’t reckless. Having a shorter reach and worse striking means you either wait for timing or rush in. Rose just didn’t want to fight at all.

It's not just about losing the fight too, you lose alot of fans by "fighting" like that. And it's even worse when they deflect and hide behind deluded fantasies of what actually happened, Pat Barry is clearly deluded and a yes man.

You totally brushed over anything about how Pat was during the interview, did you watch the whole thing? It was genuinely scary the way he is. Barely let her speak and was pissed off that she would get on cam etc. It was possibly the weirdest, creepiest interview I've ever seen. He went on for soooo long. It felt like that interview would be used in a court case someday. Who saw the whole thing and doesn't agree with me? He's also gotta be on some crazy drugs and there's no way she'll everrrrr be able to get out of that relationship, he's too toxic, he'd kill her, at least someone

I mean when you see the bigger picture it's none of the things you mentioned and, it's not surprising at all. This is clearly him trying to live through her moments, yes he was a great fighter but, he was never talked about or viewed how Rose is. As for the drugs, i don't know about now but, he did struggled with that in the past which led to them breaking up in 2016 so. Hopefully he's not back on them pills and alcohol.

I find Rose a bit overrated in my honest opinion and with the fact that she’s never got to defend her belt 2 times in a row shows that how much mistakes she always cost herself in certain fights and making her look like a paper champ almost. Also the “I’m the best” phrase that Rose and Pat say is kinda getting annoying since they’re kinda getting over there heads and ego.

I think both fighters were scared. Almost like a school fight where both guys don’t wanna hit each other. (Rose was scared of the takedown and Carla was scared of getting KOed on the feet). Given that Rose was the bigger fighter I did expect a lot more from her tho, at least Carla went for the takedown.
I don't know why Rose still scared of the takedown, because when Carla shot for takedowns, Rose defended well. It should have galvanized her.

Like in the Ariel interview how she keeps coming in trying to give an honest account of herself to Ariel and Pat keeps doing the half head turn wide eyed as if to say 'You're breaking my flow, I'm telling him how it is' when it's in regards to her and her alone. Weili and Joanna are having their rematch at the next show with the winner most likely facing Esparza next. I can easily see both of them dominating that fight (Joanna already has beaten Carla once as well)

Rose is very hot and cold with her performances. I mean there’s getting absolutely battered and then there’s not even looking interested in entering an exchange. I totally agree! I have been saying this for years! My problem with Rose is she is very unstable. She is very emotional and she wouldn’t take criticism! She doesn’t have the mentality of a champion. Because of that, everyone is walking on egg shells around her. Unlike Shevshenko or Nunes where they are very confident. I wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up like Ronda at some point.

Aspen Ladd is the one that has real problems having a bf as a coach because her career is on the brink. Meanwhile Rose is still the best in the division and hyper focusing on one 1 fight is pointless. Remember Ngannou had one of the worst fights ever against Lewis, this just happens sometimes in the UFC.
But Rose has been in the top of the game for longer than Ngannou had, when he fought Lewis.

Rose has been a slow starter like Anderson Silva was to read her opponent's reaction to her strikes. So i always saw her having a good team behind her, but this time they just gave Esparza's wrestling too much respect and Pat Barry told her between rounds that she gotta be patient. I just think Pat Barry's coaching was pure trash this time and probably won't make the same mistake again.
Yes, that will be a crucial example in her next fight if they've learned or if they're going to be stubborn and still have The Predator be in the centre of her eyeline and blocking the actual coaching expert, Wittman, from doing what he was trying to do last time and give actual advice.

He met her when she was 14 and still kind of treats her like she's 14. All this "I'm the best" stuff and the corner advice just makes her seem like a scared little girl to me. There was serious contradiction in the corner between Whitman telling her to get moving and Pat telling her "You're amazing, you're winning, you're doing so good".
And I love Rose and her fighting style. This fight was embarrassing from her (and Pat) though.

Her priorities are in the totally wrong order. Your top priority as a fighter HAS to be to win. If it becomes apparent that you aren't going to win, then and only then should you start thinking about your health and happiness. If staying healthy is your top priority, then fight every fight like that one. You'll get some decisions in your favor (because who even knows how to score a fight that uneventful) and you certainly won't get hurt.

In my opinion I just don't think Rose is as good as she's been made out to be. Especially in her weight division. I don't think she's that far ahead of everyone. Unlike in other weight divisions where there is clearly a number of fighters who stick out above the rest.

Roses mentality in fights comes down to her opponents. Carla esparza isn’t a huge fight and the pressure is minimal compared to Zhang and Joanna which are 2 massive high pressured fights with potential serious consequences. This is when rose performs best

That Pat Barry interview reminds me of John Kavanaugh when he said he saw a lot of positives in the first round of Conor v Poirier 3 and thought they had a chance to win the fight if not for the leg break. As a fighter I would rather get fucked up but win the fight, having a good chin that happens a lot. The loss hurts more than anything even if you feel 'healthy' the buzz of win keeps you going. I can't imagine the stakes at that level with a belt involved but surely yo should be prepared to go to dark places just to get the win.

I don’t understand why the narrative is pat Barry is a bad coach and being her boyfriend is a problem in the corner. I think the problem is the counter striking style and how it becomes a fighters only way of offense. Rose wanted to stick to her gameplan of waiting for Carla to do everything and then counter. The problem with this style is it creates these stalemates where the counter striker will refuse to engage and make plays while the other fighter is scared to do anything. This fight is on rose for not taking advantage of her huge advantage on the feet against Carla. There is blame for the coaching but it’s on a fighter to recognize that I need to land and create my own opportunities. Great champions like Volk, Usman, and Charles are able to do it all and create their own opportunities to win not just waiting for their opponents to over extend. They leave the fight in their hands that’s what makes great fighters and rose with all her gifts didn’t try to be great she let the fight just fade away.
