Nice work. The more varieties of wood, the better. If you are cutting lots of pieces at the same length, clamp a stop block onto the guide, and you only have to measure once (the space between the stop block and the blade. Place the uncut wood against the stop block and it will cut the same length piece, every time. If you want to experiment with different looks, try staining the outside edges of each piece with different colors of stain, before you glue them together. Then glue, sand, and finish with a clear coat or wax finish. You will see stunning layers of colors and the grain will really pop on each layer.
What a great job! I've been trying to make some tealight holders but having terrible trouble trying to drill the hole, I've used a forstner bit & spade but can't seem to drill to the depth of the tealight.
