Thank you for this video! I have watched many videos that were vague with instructions and products used. This video is excellent! I didn't feel confident to move forward with prep until now.
Thanks for all the tips and tricks. You have inspired me and I'm in the process of refinishing my cabinets. I'm finished with peeling off the thermofoil, Prepping, priming, sanding and ready for the first finish coat. Do you clean them with anything prior to the finish coat after sanding the primer smooth or just blow them off good, vacuum and wipe them down with the tack rag? Your help has been a life saver and has made this job much easier for me, I sure appreciate it, I can't thank you enough!
Sounds like you are on the right track. Thats everything I would do. The tack cloths are amazing! Sounds like you got this!!! Thank you for all your support!
Thank you so much for your videos on thermofoil. Could you tell me if I can paint over the edge bonding that comes in thermofoil cabinets or if we remove it how to treat it ? Thank you
@@PinealPaintingLLC yes thank you for answering . I am painting my doors after removing the thermofoil more or less as you show . But I don’t know what to do with the tape that is on the box cabinets along the edges where the doors touch when they are closed also at the top and bottom of the cabinets ( veneer or melamine I don’t know what it is ) is not thermofoil but if you feel it off then you see not treated mdf. ( I don’t know how best to explain maybe a picture might help ?
@@lucy-st6tv If it is thick and very hard then it's probably Formica and you do not have to remove that. If it's Thermofoil then remove and paint using the same process as the doors. Maybe this video will help? It is one of a three-part series that I did a while back. ua-cam.com/video/L72rnGjA1NQ/v-deo.html
Wonderful tutorial ! Thank you. Does this primer works on both MDF and melamine ? Also, how do you know if you need a second coat of primer ? Again, thank you !
This primer works good on MDF but do a test sample first to make sure it is best for your specific situation. One good coat of primer is usually all it needs. With that said, if you think it needs a second- use your best judgement.
THe 5 in 1 is the most useless tool i have bought among 40 tools i bought for renovation and painting. It annoys me when i hear people repeating the nonsense that it's a great tool, it's nothing more than a hard plate with a handle that you can use to open paint cans instead of a flat screwdriver. Other than that, it is bad at everything else it pretends to do, scraping. It's not worth buying.
Oh wow, I love mine. I use mine every day. Not sure what I would do without it. It can be a screw driver in a pinch, it can pull nails out, it can hammer on things with the metal end on the handle, close paint cans, its a great straight edge for cleaning up a bad cut line with a rag, It does so many things. That and my razor knife, Always on my belt. :)
@@PinealPaintingLLC Do you know the saying : "Use the right tool for the job." I suscribe to that, it keeps your serenity and avoids unecessary aggravation from extra work caused by poorly designed multi-tools. You probably remember those junk tools sold long long ago, the sale's pitch was : " And it does this, and this and can even do this, there's almost nothing it cannot do ! ". That is bullsh and it's what this 5-1 tool is. It's BS. I passionately hate people who mislead me into buying one. If you want a screwdriver use one, if you want a hammer, use one, they will work better. As for scraper, it's totally useless. The only reason mine is not in the scrap metal trash is it is good for cleaning paint from 9" or 14" roller covers and second to open paint cans (i haven't tried it to close them) other than that it's useless.
@@ericastier1646LOL I have been painting for a very long time and I love mine! Extremely useful and I only need One tool on my belt not carrying around 40 tools. But, yes also have a toolbox full of tools as well. Maybe I should make a video all about how amazing my 5in1 is HAHA.

I would like to know if I want a white shiny look what would I have to use to paint it pls
Try testing out a gloss or a semi gloss and you can ask for a Bright white or Extra white. Do a couple testers before making the ultimate decision.
Do you recommend using a sponge roller for my final paint coats instead of a paint sprayer? Great instructional videos. Thank you.
In my opinion spraying is better.
That doesn't mean you cant get decent quality from a roller.
