I totally get your point about the 44mm thing. I've come to the conclusion that what makes a watch appear large or small has more to do with the dial diameter than the case diameter. I've got a 40mm diver which looks perfect to me, as somebody who prefers smaller sizes, because the bezel is 5mm wide so it actually creates a 30mm dial and the watch doesn't look large. This works both ways as I've got my Dad's Rotary dress watch he wore in the 80s/90s which manages to appear masculine and large enough despite being a 34mm case by having a 32mm dial - so the dial really fills out the watch face. This Casio looks fantastic especially for the money. Thanks for the review!
I like your presentation style. you don't talk like a typical UA-camr. it just sounds like my friend is telling me about a new watch. you're not trying to be wacky or clever or cute or sell me something. the entry-level is so much more fun than all the typical rolex, omega...
That's a great comment to read. Thank you! I try to make my videos as if it's just me and a friend having a chat about watches over a coffee. I also enjoy entry-levels wayyy more. It's just a more interesting space IMO. Hope all is well, thanks for watching.
If they put an elapsed time or countdown bezel instead of the compass, these watches would be selling like mad with scalpers on the job, I reckon. Not many uses for the compass bezel on a day to day basis, but quite a few on a dive or countdown one.
I love Casio's....and I really love the look of this! The black dial with the green bezel is nicely done, super legible hands and the orange seconds hand is a nice touch. I agree it looks great on that nato strap, gives it real outdoor vibes. I've got a Duro which I wear quite happily so I'm ok with the case size. Overall it looks fantastic and I think Casio have done a really good job. I'm definitely in! Cheers Kieron, congrats on 25k subs. Well deserved mate 👏
Nice! Didn't know you had a Duro. If you enjoy the fit of the Duro, this one will be even better. It's them cutouts under the case that make it a super sweet fit. Thanks mate, hope all is well 🙏
If they left off the day, or even better used a six o clock date, this would EASILY be a winner. But the day at 4 unfortunately kills it for me. Great review, thank you!
Did you not watch the video? It's an exploration/adventure watch. Literally in the same category as the Alpinist. It obviously doesn't look like it, that's why it's an alternative 😆
Agreed, video opens up saying it has an "alpanist vibe" which i just don't see. Its nothing like an alpanist. Plenty of different watches have an inner compass bezel, but this has none of the element that make the alpanist the alpanist. The case shape is nothing like alpanist, its a completely different size class, no hour numerals, no green dial, no guilding, its just not even worth mentioning the alpanist. This watch looks like a Frankensteins monster of a different seiko watch parts, it honestly looks like a fake...
Again, this isn't an alternative because it looks similar. The Alpinist was designed as a mountaineering watch. A watch to be taken on a hike, adventure, exploration... Which is why it has a compass bezel, great legibility and 200m WR. This Casio fulfills all of that critea. Look past the initial aesthetics between the two, they have a lot in common when it comes to the intended purpose of the watch. They share characteristics that aren't 'gilded hands' and 'the shape of the case'.
Great presentation as always. While your explanation about the 44mm size was heartfelt, I am unconvinced - but regrettably so as I really like all the other aspects. If this was even 41mm I'd pull the trigger. Cheers Everyone!
Kieron this is absolutely looking at the SPB121 for inspiration but the window makes it kookier than most and when looking for a inexpensive watch kookie is kool and may attract attention 😮 no bigger than my Duro and looks completely different, I'm in 😎
Date window is crazy, but I kinda like it. Indeed, it's no bigger than the Duro. It wears much better in fact. I'm blown away with this one. It's fun, pretty and different. Bravo Casio 🙏
That leather strap matches so good on this watch.. great find Keiren! - thanks for the video - I think it also looks like this watch - Weekly Auto Orient King Diver
Cheers mate. I really like the look of that Orient King Diver... But why have they put weekly auto on the dial 🤣 looks so silly! I might have to get one to see it in person. Thanks for watching my friend, hope all is well
@@TopTierTicker lol it almost sounds like am a weekly uber driver or something -:) , probably apt for certain professions - lol. From what i understood after reading Hodinkee and few other articles is that it was meant for Racing car drivers who met up on weekends or something. Its a great watch and i own a Green dial.. am across the pond or would have let you review it for me. For a change they went away with the Orient cigarette logo 🤣
Thank you for this review. Amazing watch, just a described! Readability, weight, wear, are all great. Size is in fact no problem, even for smaller wrists. Found a somewhat strange use for the compass bezel when not outdoors: I like to use the "N" (north) marker as a marker for "next (important) calendar event". Minus points for the mineral glass, bracelet is crap, swapped it for a dark brown leather band. Availability of this watch was not great. Got it for a reasonable prize (90$ including taxes) from overseas, CreationWatches (SG).
I am trying to accept the Alpinist comparison, but it's tough. Outside of the compass dial, the comparison dims. Nowhere near the capability or quality. However, the normal price I have seen online is closer to the $90 USD. Not readily available in the US though.
It has an Alpinist vibe. I dig the Starbucks green & black. Even the 44 mm diameter with short lugs is okay. But the day/date at 4:00 is not ideal. But it’s an inexpensive Casio and I might give it a try. Thanks for the review! Cheers from Ohio!
Really nice looking watch. I bought Reguno as my travel/adventure watch, it's in the same price range, bit pricier. It's titanium, solar, 100m WR, day-date, decent metal strap.. It doesn't have the compass ring tho. But I feel Casio could've done better here, being solar at least. Nothing sucks like watch needing new battery when in the wild or travelling.
Dude this looks like a great watch for the price ($100 / under). I was a bit bummed when you said it was 44mm x 48mm. But you seemed to enjoy it so much despite the size, so I might give it a shot. Watch looks too good to pass up. Thanks for the review my guy 😎
May be It’s just me, a smaller version with the colour of the bezel for the dail, without a bezel, would be my first choice. But it’s nice, definitivly.
In some ways Casio did a great job on the watch. 44 mm is the minimum size I will go for, so that is appealing to me. I like the green bezel and that it is water resistant to 100 meters. I really like the markers and the hands. And I like that it has a day & date, for me a must have. But I would prefer the colander to be at the 3 o’clock, not 4 o’clock position. But the real deal breaker is the seconds hand. They made it beautiful but it clicks from second to second instead of smoothly running around the dial. Even my Invicta Pro Diver uses the Seiko Mecaquartz to achieve this elevated performance. Hope you’re listening, Casio. You made a really stunning and functional watch, but that seconds hand needs to be smooth. I’ll keep watching for the upgrade.
Great review and nice looking watch! When I realized you can use your watch as a compass just as well without the inner rotating bezel, I sold my SARB017 and instead bough the SPB243 in the Alpinist line-up. Hey-ho! (But the compass looks cool, no doubt!)
The textured section of the bezel is your basic 15 mins countdown timer despite it not being numbered. Just a quick way to measure 15 mins im guessing.
Bought the white version because of your 44mm presentation. Thank you. It certainly looks bigger than it wear. I love the clean dial, sadly I didn't factor the legibility. It's OK for my office adventure. Do you think this can also qualify as a GADA watch?
is a casio easy to mod? I'm a cartographer in an energy company, and if ever there was the possibility of, for example, a "lightning" second hand like a milgauss, perhaps smaller hands (a weak point for me here) and a sapphire crystal rather than a mineral one, I'd be very interested in this watch. With this modifications, this watch could 'reflect" myself
Great review once again. Awesome watch even though the date day kinda throws me off, but I feel like it also makes it Quirky and intentionally different. I just checked the price on this watch and its selling about $135 in the States. I might just wait a it to purchase it once is more available.
One of the best looking analogue Casios I've seen, its a shame it doesn't have a better crystal though (if aliexpress brands can do it this price, why can't Casio). No matter, I'd still like to add one to my collection, except for two irritating issues: One, its is totally unavailable anywhere to buy in Canada. Two, for every online retailer who featured it on their site (out of stock, of course) it was almost double the price! Cool watch though.
I feel it should have had a floating bezel for direction, automatically aligning to the North like a regular compass. I don't see any point in having to manually set the compass every time you change direction. What happens when you have an overcast sky?
Beautiful presentation Beautiful watch Beautiful price Beautiful straps How can i buy one for Greece please? With two steaps, one leather one green That's exactly what i was looking for
What I would like to know is where you got the leather strap from? In my opinion it looks the best with that one… Any chance you’d have a link for that exact strap? Lastly, why is it so hard to find this specific watch with the green bezel?
Regarding the watch - This video has made it super popular and hard to find, sorry about that. It will be available in the future at retail price... Regarding the strap - It's a vintage leather from CNSwatchbands. I can't share a link in the comments, but if you google CNS watch bands, you'll find it.

More like in lucky dips.
The day/date breaks my mind. I could never get over that personally lol
I can't live without date, day is a good + too
Nothing like the alpinist in my eyes, not every watch with an inner bezel is alpinist alternative
Did you not watch the video? It's an exploration/adventure watch. Literally in the same category as the Alpinist. It obviously doesn't look like it, that's why it's an alternative 😆
@adam-im8jo AFFORDABLE alternative...not one watch instead of the other if you had the money of course!
I think it's quite obvious...
I don’t think the color combo green and black dial works, besides that Casio again score a new hit.

pretty sure the N to NE is different to act as a 15min range if you want to use the bezel for timing like a diver bezel...

Where can I get that nylon band?
This is a nice looking watch, but the compass bezel is an affectation and plays no useful function, of course. As long as you can locate the sun and know what time it is, you can plot directions. I would prefer a larger dial for added legibility. BTW, what is the diameter of the actual useful dial?
Thanks for the review, very good. Where did you get the green strap from?
I get my nato straps from CNS watch bands, leathers from Vario 👌
Why dont i see this thing on the casio website?
Cool watch. Bonus points for second hand hitting the markers. Just like my Duro. I hate when they miss the markers. Triggers my ocd lol😊
Would have been really nice without the day/date window. (Or maybe white on black)...
Yeah day date window is a deal breaker for me. Hour hand is too thick too
I love the dial, hands & bezel...but that wonky day/date triggers me badly ...
I want to buy one, but it would annoy me every time I look at it 🥺🥺🥺
Do we have the swim crown
Without the horrid day date 'bar' and with a timing bezel instead of the compass this would have been a terrific Duro alternative.
Where i can get the brown leather strap? .. it looks more valuable with it 💯🔥
While I'm an advocate for smaller watches, this can vary. For a sports-oriented watch, I want a bigger diameter. I find lug-to-lug a more important dimension. At 48mm lug-to-lug, it's just below my cut-off point.
I'll be giving this one a closer look.
It's always nice to hear someone speak a bit of sense. L2L is always the most important measurement IMO.
I'm the same, my max L2L is 49mm.
