  • Hi!
Welcome to a day in the life of me!! On this day I go get lab work, go to the endo, work my marketing job, workout, and make and eat food all while also making the decisions of a pancreas. It’s a good time.
Please like and subscribe and let me know what other videos you’d like to see! Up next is a 2nd week review of omnipod 5 with my new bolus strategy that’s really working for me!!
Disclaimer: obviously nothing in this video is medical advice! Please work with your endo/ diabetes team before making decisions about your diabetes care.

You mentioned "pausing the insulin after bolus". Assume you mean basal insulin is reduced or stopped. Happens with the Medtronic 670G too. Apparently everyone who programs insulin pumps believes bolus and basal insulin is the exact same thing. Not understanding that bolus insulin is for food eaten right then. Or corrections of high blood sugars. And basal insulin is for all the background functions that occur and require insulin for the sugar your body releases.

Nice topic ! Glad to see normal life, and someone who eats chocolate at night👍🏻looking at going on the Omni pod, never have used a pump. Thanks for the insight.

Keep up the excellent work. More videos and information regarding the Omnipod 5. I can relate with your endocrinologist/doctor experience. Sometime I feel like I'm the Doctor and I just show up there so they can keep filling out my prescriptions.

Love this!! My daughter is a type one and we just started on the OP5. There’s definitely a learning curve and I feel the same way as you do about our endo office not knowing much about it yet. Seeing your videos gives us hope! Thank you!!

You have the perfect demeanor for an on camera content creator! Love your videos! And my endo visits are always rushed too. They never last more than 10-15 minutes and she plays speed 20-questions too. Why? 😂

  • @thekevindentonroadshowlive9454

I feel like our endos look and see hey they are doing good .. keep
It up . If we aren’t doing good they make adjustments ..

Thanks for sharing "a day in the life!" Would you mind doing a video on the insulin capacity of the Omnipod, how often you change it, etc.?

Meg...as for your endo's time, find out if you can start seeing a Nurse Practitioner in addition to your endo. They have MUCH more time to spend with patients. I suppose it has to do with hospital billing. Anyway, ask about it at your facility. I have 2 (one with endo and 1 with gyno) and love them both. I alternate seeing the doc and the NP every other time.

Such good advice! I used to see an NP when I lived in Boston and LOVED it. Will try for here too!! Thanks!

So does your Endo look at the charts and graphs supplied by the OP5? I guess he/she does because I now recall you say your Endo asked what happen on a particular day. I'm fortunate to have a wonderful Endo. Never feel rushed. Answers questions and knows my CGM and pump. To give you an idea: My appointment a few appointments ago was really good. He said your glucose numbers look as good at mine. I said: Trade you pancreas's. He has a sense of humor too. I enjoy my appointments. I have found that general practitioners are not that good with diabetics so I do expect more from an Endo. Good luck in you journey.

Current summary if possible? Using what devices? How are your numbers etc? I'm on the Medtronic but have less than a year left to hit the 4 year point. I want to make the right choice this time around before I commit for another 4 years. My endocrinologist is helpful but he said Omnipod customer service is horrible!

Your blood sugars are quite good considering the amount of carbohydrates you eat. Do you run a lot of high blood sugars? For me also a type 1 diabetic I do not eat carbs very limited to only 20-30g a day. My blood sugars are very close to the normal range 70-99 mg/dl all day even after meals on a high protein diet. If you are interested definitely read/watch Dr. Bernstein diabetes solutions (book/UA-cam). Exercise for me raises my blood sugars (workout very strenuously) and do require 2u of regular insulin before working out.
