I have the G10 version and have been happy with it. I own a lot of crossbar lock knives and they did a good job with it. Its not quite Kizer smooth, but very good. Super utilitarian build with this, and although a bit small, highly functional
Love at first sight. After seeing Zaks demonstration and hearing the Yonder story, bought two of them. If Zak makes larger Yonder, I'll probably by few of those for stocking stuffers.
(S) to got the Green Micarta and blackwashed blade and I love it. I think it’s a perfect all around EDC Pocket knife. Zak and Civivi nailed it … great job 👏 guys. And thank you for the video 👍🙏
I don’t buy knives as much anymore because I find my Spyderco para 2 and 3 are the only knives I end up carrying. However, I really am a fan of Zack’s content so I’m definitely buying the Yonder to support him. It’s also a good looking knife; something I would definitely like carrying.
Good video, I like the filming aesthetic, easy to watch. I listened to Zac's story about the development of the knife, and I can dig it. I like the design, and I think I will pick one up in the future. As I keep trying out different knives to hone in my preferences, I'm drawn to a crossbar lock due to the ambi-nature of the lock (I'm a lefty), the fact that the lock itself is an opening method, the strength, etc. I can tell that this is going to be a huge hit, it just has a good vibe to it that I think can speak to a lot of people. When I get one, I'm probably going to grind in a choke position since that is a bit of dead space to me, and it will make the handle feel bigger than it is, and maybe make some custom wood scales for it as well. This one is a homerun for both Civivi and Zac.
I'd like a video or 2 on the premise of: When should I spend more than $50 or $100 for a pocket knife or fixed blade. - Not so much specific knives but what to look for that makes the price worth it.
I mean… you look for good, well executed materials and steels for the price coupled with build quality. Paying more generally nets you better blade steel, more premium scale materials, between manufacturers potentially better machining and manufacturing, or a combination of all 3. There is no general rule of thumb as what different people want from their knives is incredibly, incredibly subjective For 50-100 which is already a pretty wide price range when it comes to knives, and is by far the densest and most saturated market segment for knives, it’s almost impossible to buy a bad knife from a reputable manufacturer.
Honestly it’s a pretty simple answer. Folders have more parts and less strength inherently, so they are limited on use. They are for convenience, and what you should look for is something that can take light impact, sharpens easily and has decent corrosion resistance. 14c, cpm154, 3v, and even D2 are perfect for folders. You can get these with g10 or micarta scales for $25-$75 and it will take care of everything you use it for. also want two method of opening and really any lock type other than button locks (civivi brazen/pintail). If you want a knife for serious tasks, a good fixed blade with tough steel and ergonomic handle is for you. money here will get you a reliable tool that lasts and handles everything you throw at it at the cost of size and weight, harder to carry but way more useful. (Lionsteel T5)
S I picked up the green Micarta one with black blade and love it ordered it on opening day wish it was a little bigger but I love it I also have a banter and lander 2 from his friend Ben Peterson from knafs knives love them both I carry the yonder as backup because I need a little bigger knife for work I break down some boxes not a lot but some and I open a few boxes with tape and want the blade to last longer but the yonder is one of my favorite knifes by the way I have 2 bench made knives with cross bar locks and this is my 4th knife with that lock and love it easy to open and close it
I picked up the black g-10 version when they were first available at Blade West at few weeks back. I really enjoy it. I also agree, if they bumped up the size I'd be a true winner.
From time to time someone I know will ask for recommendations - people new to carrying knives, EDC, etc. There have been a couple of Civivis that I've suggested in the past and I wouldn't hesitate to point someone to the Yonder. That damascus version though... I think I've got to get me one for myself.
You should check out the Civivi Baby Banter fixed blade. I just picked one up from Knafs and that thing is stupid sharp, has a great sheath, and is perfect for an EDC (non-tactical) fixed blade. Hard to beat for $55
Hey I was looking to buy my first pocket knife do you think I should get the civivi praxis polished ultem for $59 or the bench made bugout mini mesa red for $106 what’s better value?
The praxis is better value and better to learn to sharpen knives with. If you jack up the sharpening, you've spent less money. Although Benchmade has free sharpening, you have to send it to them
How is the crossbar? They released the Yonder and the We Banter 2 as their first crossbar knives. I am always wary of the first knife with a new lock. The Yonder and Banter 2 are almost exactly the same size. Just a slight variation in handle and blade shape. Banter 2 is $135 with S35VN. Yonder is half that with 14c28n and seems like a much better value.
It’s ok so far. Better than a recent knife artisan cutlery recently sent me. Unfortunately for artisan cutlery I got both knives the same day so i can feel the difference
On mine, the crossbar is phenomenal. Others may vary, but on the few that I handled of both models when I was at Bladeshow West, they were all very smooth and functional. No hiccups or roughness
"Damascus" is a misnomer. Especially since very few knifes are made in Damascus.🤣 A more correct term is laminated steel. Which was created for swords for strength and because high quality steel was in short supply, so they would only make the core of the sword out of quality steel. With the plethora of steels available today, laminated steel is purely aesthetic.
I like it!!! But really how is it any different than the Vosteed Racoon, Bestechman Cicada’s Wing other than steel on that one and numerous other knives that look the same? That’s why I don’t understand the award winning or him going off to the woods to conjure up the design. It’s been done over and over again. I’d still buy it but it’s nothing original or different. With that being the design has always worked well.
I agree with the bit of nothing original or different. I know it’s hard to design something that stands out. It looks like a well designed tool. But it looks a lot of knives out there.
Great design, great uuhhhh. Too damn small. Why does everyone always have to make these great looking knives so dedgum small? Make one called the yonder yonder at least with a 4"+ handle with at least a 3.25" blade. Y'all don't know anything bout "yonder" unless you're from GA or AL.
They need to make a bigger version called Over Yonder...
Fire name, low key
Great idea! I'd buy that for sure!
Or a fixed blade version
Lmao…. They would but you can’t get there from here.😂
That might be the best idea I’ve ever heard

Thank you for the review of so many models.

I agree! It would be a very useful video
Great video idea! May do this on my channel.

I have it in the same color and love it. Minimalistic and utilitarian. Perfect look for city carry.
I got this same variation I think the best part of it is the jimping. It’s one of the best jimping I’ve had
S I picked up the green Micarta one with black blade and love it ordered it on opening day wish it was a little bigger but I love it I also have a banter and lander 2 from his friend Ben Peterson from knafs knives love them both I carry the yonder as backup because I need a little bigger knife for work I break down some boxes not a lot but some and I open a few boxes with tape and want the blade to last longer but the yonder is one of my favorite knifes by the way I have 2 bench made knives with cross bar locks and this is my 4th knife with that lock and love it easy to open and close it
great video … .nicely done .. .this one is definitely on my wish list ….
I bought the micarta handled knife and love it. You can't beat it for the price. Better than the Mini-Grip or the Pyrite.
Good knife but definitely not better than a mini grip lol
I picked up the black g-10 version when they were first available at Blade West at few weeks back. I really enjoy it. I also agree, if they bumped up the size I'd be a true winner.

Thx for the review X…Possibly my next budget knife.👍🏻
Looks like a good working knife! Zac's a pretty smart guy.
Got it in the dark green micarta. Love it. Zac crushed it.
You should check out the Civivi Baby Banter fixed blade. I just picked one up from Knafs and that thing is stupid sharp, has a great sheath, and is perfect for an EDC (non-tactical) fixed blade. Hard to beat for $55
“CIVIVI Dropbear”. All joking aside GREAT review. Thank you. Too small for me but looks interesting.
Smash - Just ordered one, Thanks X
Smash! This one really speaks to me 👌
How wood handle feels? Slippery? Is damaskus same outdoor quality as those 2 other yonder blades? Thx for review.
Yup. Feels slippery. But with patina and use the grip should improve. It's similar to my Benchmade crooked River.
A Smash! Between the wood handle and the G10 version.
I personally will not be buying one but I can definitely see why someone would
they have awesome Ti clips, I always swap out when gettin new one
S. This is a good-looking knife!
Man I need to order one of your trays man
I’m giving this exact knife away in my Christmas giveaway!
it's a nice knife, but that wood and Damascus combo is just on fire.
What do you think of the handle ?Isn't it on the small side ?
Yup. But for my hands. I think for most consumers it's fine
The Yonder has a more functional blade with it's pronounced belly than the Pyrite Light.
Drywall!! Ouch. This knife is proof the quality is available at a reasonable price! S
Great video!

Ultem tends to crack under pressure or in contact with loctite. I'd get it in g10 or micarta.
Is the tension adjustable?
"Yeh Dat Way" Migos voice*
hopefully there's one with upgraded steel
S. Had it a few days an for under $60 seems hard to beat
S - I have the micarta version and like it a lot.
S Can’t wait to get one.
It nice but wish the blade a little thicker
Why you making me really want to get the Kizer?
I believe their Damascus is base off of 9cr18mov
P. I like bigger knives. And I have plenty that are similar. I don’t want another of what I already own.
"Wrong handed." 🤦♂️🤣
Smash, GOD BLESS Y'ALL SEMPER FI FROM NM 🙏🙏👍👍🤠🤠🇺🇸🇺🇸🏜️🏜️🥜🥜
Smash, but I too wish it was a bit bigger.
I believe civivi's Damascus is based on 10cr

I believe the Damascus is a twist of 10cr and 9cr steels
Oh nice
It looks like their clad Damascus. Their clad Damascus has a VG-10 core that is clad with 46 layers of 316 and 5Cr15Mov steel.
S! Love mine.
I love Civivi but use a utility knife for cutting drywall, this coming from a 25 yr vet. 😂
Nice knife as I just sent you an email as thanks....Good stuff....
What is your spouses EDC? I need female EFC ideas please.
Fairly new, Lander 1. Fairly old, Mini-Griptilian with the thumbhole.
10CR BASE

What everyone is missing is that it's ugly and generic nothing special about it at all. Looks like a knaff lander and a banter had a baby.
Well everyone has thier opinions. I think it looks great. Plus i like the civivi brand. Im glad they got the crossbar lock
Benchmade guy here 👆lol😂
