  • Anyone can go to Burgess Falls State Park and hike in to see it from above but have you ever noticed the kayaks and boats down below? Here is what it is like to get to the falls from down there.
If you have a good eye you may notice that this video of Burgess Falls is from two different trips. The second part of the video Don and I paddle to Fancher Falls (80 feet high) after going to Burgess Falls (136 feet high). Making for over 12 miles of paddling for the day.
If you are wanting to paddle to Burgess Falls you need to find your way to the end of Cane Hollow Road (about 10 minutes for the State Park). The paddle is 4 miles round trip.
If you want to just see Fancher Falls it is closer to start at Cookville Marina and go to the end to Taylor Creek. It will be around 5 miles round trip.
Motor boats know kayakers are out there and are pretty careful but always still be careful.
Also there is no organization to the parking at Cane Hollow so is gets pretty crazy and good parking is limited so get there early enough. If you are using a trailer for your boat there is not a paved surface to back down and pull up. I saw some having trouble pulling their boat back out.

Any fish in the trees? Like your history lessons. You jinxed yourself with the wind when you fired Billy. LOL

Billy noticed that nobody was fishing and it was true so we wondered if maybe it just isn't any good or if everyone out there is just going to the falls.
Billy knows he ain't fired. Those epic up wind paddles are just part of the fun.

How long is the Kayak round trip? Just trying to plan a day out there. Thanks

If you do 12 miles to see both falls it took us 5 hours 20 mins.
I average 20 to 30 minutes per mile depending on if I'm going easy or digging in. Just to Burgess is 4 miles round trip. Figure in time at the falls. Maybe 2 1/2 hours total.

What app are you using to track your trip?

Map My Walk. Of course you just tell it if you are trail running, paddling, mountain biking, road biking, ect.
