Hey all! Today I'm talking about my reasons why I decided to drop out of Georgia Tech Online Masters in Computer Science (OMSCS) program. I felt that things in the program I could learn at my own pace - yes it would harder, but still. I've dreamt of being a youtube content creator for a long time and it was more important to create valuable content for me. Ultimately, I faced burnout and could not keep up with everything and had to make some priorities on what comes first in my life and commit to it, which led me dropping out of college. Feel free to ask me questions in the comments section to clarify things! Cheers!

I considered dropping out every week the first year and a half as I would have preferred an online, social experience instead. Then covid hit so I was going to study online anyway; I finished last semester so it was worth it in the end :)

Congrats man!! That’s a big accomplishment and very encouraging! Who knows, maybe I’ll go back one day if there’s a desire for it :)

@@GreidiAjalik Unless you need the degree to teach or for a better salary. I only finished because it kept me motivated, you can learn ai or software development on your own.

Thanks for sharing, really useful! Question - Did you get certificates of the courses already completed and can they be used in resume?

I didn’t get certificates (other than my transcript that shows what classes I took) and probably they could be used in resume if needed…

Kudos to you for choosing family and personal mental health > another random degree.
I also share the same sentiment about the burnout and the idea of paying for education material that is already free to the public. This program isn't for everyone, the people who seem to excel this program are folks who don't have too many obligations such as a marriage or kids, or someone who's a top veteran in this industry just gunning for another badge on their shoulder.
But for people like me who desire the official degree/certification for a career boost, I understand i'm paying $XX,XXX amount for the official process.
Wishing you and your family the best.
