This is a super nice explanation! I was an undergrad at GT in CS, and am considering a masters. OMSCS is definitely on my list :).
You don't necessarily need NPTEL courses. I don't have a CS bachelor's but I still got an admit from OMSCS. You need to show through your SOP that you will be able to tackle the pressure of a Master's level CS degree based on your background.
I recently came to know about one more person who got an admit without cs degree and without nptel courses but at the same time someone who doesn’t. Thanks for sharing your views though. May be you can share tips for sop and essay.

@@prajjwal5520 even that I believe won't specifically require you to have a CS Bachelor's degree. In general these universities don't want you to quit the program if you don't have a proper background and are unable to cope. They either ask you to complete a few pre-requisites or demonstrate that you have enough background to tackle graduate level courses.

Now the statement of purpose is no longer required. They replaced with a couple of short answer questions with input limits. Guess the committee read enough life stories lol.

If you complete this degree and have specialization in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence primarily or other two specialities your chances of getting a Tech job is high!

Indeed it is wonderful arrangement for higher studies for engineers from india.my daughter was hesitant to pursue masters in u s a.she opted on for on line course. she took it as a full time course studying from the comfort of the house.she completed it in the month of March 2024 .she applied for PhD program in u s a . And her application was accepted.now she had gone to u s a . for PhD.she saved lot of money.for PhD she will receive research assistance, which will take care of her expenses.

Also you can't take 2 courses in summer (3 in spring or fall) unless you have already completed 4 courses already; it requires permission.

Thanks for explaining this! I had a low GPA (2.3) due to undiagnosed ADHD and it took me some time to figure out how to learn. I took some graduate courses in cs and got A’s. Think that would help?
TOEFL not required under certain criteria:

1. Does in this MS Degree anywhere there is mentioned that it was pursued through Online mode?
2. How this degree will be seen as Regular MS or not & can we pursue PhD in US post completion of this degree?
3. Can this degree help us to get job in US if US employer is willing to hire?
This online degree is the EXACT same degree that On-Campus student get from Georgia Tech, nowhere on the diploma it says that it is online. Same courses, curriculum and toughness. This is the reason why it is very very difficult (TOUGH)

What is deadline to submit application , on website it is given that "for Spring matriculation is August 10 and for Fall matriculation is March 10."

Two questions: 1) a prospective candidate who completed BS in Biological Science with honors degree in US university and is interested in applying to UMSCS program and has professional experience has a teacher in US - does this candidate has a chance to get accepted?
2) So since the candidate has non computer science Bachelors degree - does candidate need to do any computer programming courses ( Java/Python etc) in US community college or anywhere before applying? To enhance chances of getting accepted. I know you referenced some course in India but am looking for such course in US for the prospective candidate. Ma'am, I have an AICTE Approved 3-year Diploma Engineering and because of that I got a Lateral entry to B.Tech i.e., 1st year is exempted total academic year is 3 instead of 4year, so am I eligible?

This video is a little outdates. Right now, Georgia Tech does not ask for Background Essay or Statement of Purpose in their applications.
That's why the descriptions have links for the application process so that people can have updated info.
But where now they need essay, on their website now they have not mentioned anything about these two essays you are mentioning
I got my B.Eng of Communications and Electronics degree. However, this one has five specializations and I chose for C.S. Do I still have to revalidate when applying to OMSCS since my degree is not specifically C.S.?
You can apply and mention your specialisations.
I‘m a bit confused, in your video you mention that a minimum of 3.5 GPA is required but on their website the mention that a minimum of 3.0 GPA is required. Am I missing something?

Yes they would consider experience to be relevant. Explain thoroughly in your essays and get good recommenders.
How does doing a MS(OMCS) helps in my Software Development Journey when i am already working ?
You develop more expertise, your degree is recognised world wide except India. Your resume becomes heavier. You learn a lot and transition to senior engineering roles. You can pursue PhD from any foreign university. You become a better software professional. Need I go on more 🙂🙂

NPTEL exams take place physically and I am currently based out side of India.
I am not sure of the alternatives.
What are the "unofficial transcripts" mentioned in the application process. Is it the degree certificate or the consolidated mark-sheet? Is it fine to upload just the scanned copy of the originals?

What made u decide to go for masters since you already have good relevant experience so basically what was the purpose behind going for masters. If it was specific to Data Science specialization i can understand But if it was general Computer Science masters then what was your intent ?? Reason i wanted to know is because i have god amount of work experience & in past i decided to pursue this but was not sure what additional i will get from this

It is not necessary to have NPTEL courses. I just got accepted and I had a M.tech in biotech. Although I have studied C, C++, Java, DS&A. Just talk about what particular background you had in CS and your motivation. Also GT has released its MOOCS which may help in admission

@@prajjwal5520 not exactly. You would need to have 4.0 GPA, a really good GRE score. The offline is more competitive than the online one because there are only 200 seats vs 500 - 700 online. Also you'd need to pay at least $40,000 tuition fees + living expenses. Even if you get half scholarship then also it would be $20,000. On the other hand offline campus will definitely help you score a decent job in US (only if you maintain good marks).
Also, whether it is online or offline, you will have to maintain 3.0 GPA to get a degree otherwise they can kick you out as well.

You can either transfer to campus and get a job in US or you can apply for placements, if any company is hiring outside US candidates you can interview there as well. Most companies prefer US candidates though so better to choose on campus degree or transfer on campus to Georgia tech once you get admission to online program after few semesters.

You can take all from work. It should be fine.

Regarding the qualification the website says
"Preferred qualifications for admitted OMSCS students are an undergraduate degree in computer science or related field (typically mathematics, computer engineering or electrical engineering) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher."
