I gotta say, this is super overlooked, but the movie really did a excellent job making the Koopa army look legitimately threatening, and not just a squabble of comic relief characters. The imagery of the Para Koppas flying over a burning inferno looks like something out of Warhammer 40k.
In a lot of ways in the games, you don't really see what makes koopas so dangerous or evil since they don't really look the part, but this guy demonstrates otherwise.
Undoubtedly the most loyal servant Bowser would ever have. Not that Bowser ever scholded any of his minions about their failures or incompetence. And God, I love those wings
I loved this character, with just a few scenes he became very memorable, and his death was to show that he was a great loyal general and one of the best Bowser has ever had.
I know this video is a month old, but you can also see him walking at the cool and very busy panning shot of the interior of Bowser's... floating castle or whatev it is. Everyone is just doin wild and goofy things while he's marching around all calmly like he owns the place (which as a general he kinda does I guess). It's one of the infinite little details that the animators put in the movie
I didn’t get why he was on the posters or getting so much screen time, the he walked out of the flaming wreckage of his car, and spread his wings. Then it hit me
Gotta love General Koopa (I call him Rodrick, idk, he looks like a Rodrick to me...) even if he had a small amount of screen time. And I love his vehicle's design, like Killdozer 2.0!
In the game he was supposed to targeting the lead racer, but this is actually makes sense since Mario was the one who destroyed his car and Bowser's main target

Dude has 2 minutes of screentime and yet he's solely the greatest koopa in the movie. Not only did he obey Bowsers every order, he went full suicidal just to get Mario out of Bowser's way. Leaders don't often lead their men, but when they do they're the greatest leaders known to man, or perhaps turtles in this kinda sense. He led his fellow koopas to kidnap the penguins, and put himself in the front lines of the assault on rainbow road, and sacrificed himself to destroy Mario and the rainbow road so that his men could capture the others for Bowser to destroy. Also "BLUE SHELL!" Just gives me Vietnam war flashbacks.
I found it cool that the shells showed their ranks. Green-shelled koopas are low-ranking troops, red-shelled koopas are higher-ranking officers, and the blue-shelled koopa is the general koopa.
Ideas for the sequel, Imagine if Kamek revived Koopa General as a Dry Bones who was not only stronger but could explode multiple times without dying OR a friend of the Koopa General wants revenge so they’re granted the ability & rank like him to aid in Bowser’s comeback.
My money’s on the Koopa with an eyepatch being the next General. I’ve always headcanoned that guy’s his second in command. Remember how during the proposal scene, that specific Koopa is leading the other ones? Seems to support my theory.
