My brother hung himself August 3rd 2008 & I miss him every day! Sometimes, I catch myself wanting to tell him things that have happened & my heart is broken all over again. I am soo sorry for you loss. It's so hard to face the world when your insides are being chewed up & nobody understands!
I've never lost anyone close to me and I don't know if I would be able to keep a strong composure either. If I was to go through something like that though, I wouldn't want it to break me and despite the fact that your brother may not have weighed the consequences of his action and its effects fairly, I wouldn't want to remember him with anger. I only offer this consolation because I see your situation without any ties. Sort of like a child who sees the world for the first time. Feel better man.
@bfuqua79 Buy a journal and write to him!! My brother died almost 11 years ago and that's the only, and cheapest, way I could get through it! I wrote to him a lot!!! It helps you face all the thoughts your having and confront someone who's already gone!! It's gonna hurt for a long time and you'll have good and bad days but it'll become easier and easier with time! You won't recover! But life will be good again!! Just write to him! I promise it helps so much!! Good luck!!
@bfuqua79 No matter how much you dwell on what happened, on what you didn't say, on what you could have done differently ... the ever constant truth that we all must come to understand, so that we may heal, is that none of it will bring our loved ones back. The past exists only in our memories now. It is our choice which ones we hold close. For me, they are not "gone", only free of our physical constraints on this earth. I have found peace in that. I hope you find peace too.
I hope you have found someone to talk to who can help you resolve the truths you're sharing here. Accepting what you feel and getting it out is only the first step. I hope you have forgiven/can forgive your brother too. Peace and blessings.
@bfuqua79 I'm so sorry. Have you considered grief counseling? There may be people there who have also lost loved ones to suicide. Being around people who can relate a bit may help.
