    Over the past 5 years i've had 3 or 4 pairs of vivobarefoot shoes, mostly becoming familiar with the primus lite and primus trail versions. I'm a fan of the vivobarefoot brand and my feet have become stronger and very happy wearing them. But I seem to go through them pretty quickly and for the price of them this isn't idea. The tracker decon low's though could be a much better and more durable barefoot option for me.
    So this is my first impressions of these shoes, then I plan to do a 1 month review and a more long term review to really test the durability out.
    I'm going tom be using these vivobarefoot shoes as my main winter shoe, so il be wearing them pretty much every day. As a gym shoe, a walking shoe, a school run shoe, a beach shoe, and everything else. Which should really put them to the test. I'm also looking forward to testing the water resistance of them and seeing how warm they keep my feet.
    Vivobarefoots Description of these shoes -
    "Feel free, trail after trail. The Tracker Decon Low FG2 is an extra rugged take on the Tracker’s classic hiking DNA. The breathable, lightweight upper is made from Woolmark® wool and wildhide leather for extra flexibility, and the renewed outsole brings improved grip on variable terrain."

      @alexreader Unfortunately I had to send them back. They were way too tight for my wide high volume feet. It was sad because they were beautiful. After some research, I ordered Freet Feldoms and they've been fantastic - every bit as nice as the Vivos, warm, grippy trail soles, and they fit. I've since bought some other Freets. All great design and quality except the Richmond which has a design flaw which causes Achilles tendon rubbing and blisters. I particularly love their Cittee and Pace shoes for work and their Ibex boots for winter hiking. I'm a Freet fan because they look great, feel great, and give wide feet the space they need.

    Thanks for the review! I have a pair of these on the way. Having not seen them mentioned anywhere, except on their site, it was nice to get someone’s take on them.
    I’ve been purchasing a bunch from Vivo within the past couple months trying to nail down my size and which ones work best for me. I’ll be excited when I get my hands on these.

      The Geo Racer II's feel nice. The upper is all fabric and seems a little loose to me. I like at least a little bit of structure, so I don't think those are for me. The Magna FG's are really comfortable to me. Might be my favorite ones so far. The leather upper and thermal insoles have me thinking they'll be nice for inclement weather and winter months.

    I am considering buying these shoes, however, I have never really tried barefoot shoes before. Like you, I really like the aesthetic of the shoes, so I really want them, but I am unsure whether these will be a good “beginner-friendly” for someone who has never walked in these type of shoes. Can you recommend them for someone totally new in the barefoot world, or would you recommend another pair of shoes to ease the transition to barefoot more easily/comfortably? I am thinking that I’ll just use them as my daily shoes for walking and everything else I would do in a regular shoe, so no hiking 😄 Thank you for a great review, btw!

    • @alexreader
      @alexreader  Рік тому +1

      Hey thanks for the comment! I personally went straight into barefoot shoes from normal shoes/running shoes, although I did always spend a lot of time on my feet. I just built it up over time so intially I didn't wear them every day, more like every other day or once every 3 days. And again built the running up slowly with little millage at slow paces to start off with and also tried to walk in them a lot but then had recovery days where I was on my feet less. But to be honest that was only a few weeks, my feet got used to them pretty quick and they always felt great to wear with the zero drop and wide toe box. However, I know some poeple suggestion a transition shoe, so something like an altra escalante. A shoe that is zero drop, wide toe bike but does have some cushioning. I think either route works you just have to be aware of how your feet are feeling!! You might want to factor in your starting point to, what are your current shoes and how long do you spend on your feet typically. Hope that helps, I should do a video on this. Fire over any other questions:D

      @@alexreader Wow, that was such a detailed response! Thank you so much! I’m pretty much on my feet all day as well, and I have been wearing sort of “minimalist” shoes so far with some cushioning, so perhaps my feet are ready after all then… However, the tip about slowly transitioning to the new shoes and only wearing them every other day (or so) is great! I will definitely be assessing how my feet feel, and will most likely also implement your advice. Thank you once again. I will probably return with more questions once I actually have them on my feet 😄

    Have you ever gone 100% barefoot in these or any prev model? I believe they were designed to be worn that way if the size is correct for your feet, but I don't see many people doing that. Which is confusing to me because it's taking away from the shoe's purpose. Btw I'm not criticizing you either lol it's just something I've noticed and was wondering why. I've been a longtime Altra shoe guy, so I'm no stranger to 'zero drop' but I want a pair of vivos for more of a true barefoot experience. My Altras (escalante, solstace, vanish) have lower stack height compared to others but still can't be considered a barefoot shoe. So maybe the stack height (cmpared to vivos) = more cushioning = easier on the feet = easier without socks? Idk -- either way I'm going to buy a pair 😂 And if I need to buy some toe socks like injinji, I still think it'll be more barefoot than anything Altra can give me. Nice review man. I've been searching a lot for vivobarefoot reviews and your vids are at the top of the list.

    • @alexreader
      @alexreader  Рік тому +3

      Ah thanks for the comment Tim! It's a good point, I've gone 100% barefoot for a while in the primus lite and the primus trail. I took the insoles out of both and wore them with no socks. For trail running and for daily use. However, I normally wear socks now, I just find it more comfortable and warmer in the winter months. And if I get sweaty It's easier for me to wash the socks than the shoes over time. I Also don't find it takes much away from the barefoot feeling, probably becuase it's all soft thin material which just flattens, it doesn't really absorb much impact or ground feel if that makes sense. I also have altras 🥰 I actually had vivos first and altra second for running.

    • @CptAngelADVlogs
      @CptAngelADVlogs Рік тому +2

      Not wearing socks is very attractive but in reality it just creates problems. Without socks my feet feel sweaty even in the most airy barefoot shoes and the shoes will stink within 1-2 times of wearing them sockless (my feet don't stink). It's far better to wear some comfy, non restrictive socks or some high quality hyper ventilated socks, which will absorb moisture and prevent smells and you can just wash after every use instead of having the shoes soak in the moisture and smells.
      Barefoot feel is there with or without socks. Thin socks don't really take anything away from it.

    I ordered them over a month ago, they are really great, the perfect size, the quality is here. But they had a defect (the seams of the soles went beyond the outline) and now I'm waiting for a new pair after returning the defective ones. And I've been waiting for three weeks now... One thing I can say is that if you have a problem, you live in Europe, and you have to talk to them, you're screwed. They are nice, etc., but it would be faster if I ordered another one rather than waiting for the defective ones to be replaced. No response in an e-mail for a week is standard... It has little to do with premium footwear. And I'm still waiting, I'm still writing to them... And someone else always replies, if they reply at all. And every time, the first answer is the same: please provide your address. I've confirmed it so many times, and it doesn't help. And you wait many more days for another reply... And then, thay ask you to confirm your address because someone else is writing... And it seems like it has no end... And i'm still waiting for concrete information, because I paid for it...
