Thanks so much for taking a little time out of your day to watch this!
Been on a binge of your content as of recently, it's good stuff man and it's been super motivating for sure keep it up Mo
the only Data Guru we need✌ thanks Mo!
Thanks, Mo. This video is golden
Super helpful, thanks Mo.
Nice, I'm glad I could help!
Great points, Mo! I'll be researching those python libraries. 💯
Let me save you some time. Watch this video -> ua-cam.com/video/mut8eTdoRxU/v-deo.htmlsi=LXd_5Q4ewkRAdLsq
Thanks Mo, very useful video
Glad it was helpful!
Legendary Advice! I've focused on learning a lot of stereotypical Data Analyst skills rather than a combination of very specific skills that would help me excel in one area of work. After applying for Jobs for 5 months I've realised my combination of generic skills are not highly valued. Study hard but smart too! Thanks for the advice Mo, if you see this message can you please recommend a great python course on datacamp? That would be awesome.
I used DataCamp but I haven't done a Python course on DataCamp so I don't want to recommend something I personally didn't test and complete. Anyone here who completed a Python course on DataCamp?
Hi Luke
Im a fresher in data analyst field, I want to know the practical roadmap to be a analyst without wasting resources
Almost forgot! If you really want a shortcut, the most efficient data analysis resources all in one place, then you should really check out my data package mochen.info/ultimate-data-portfolio-lp/
"Consistency is the key." You're absolutely right. I am struggling with the consistency most. As an economics undergraduate, I can resonate with you. I am following you on LinkedIn, can you recommend some projects I can do with my technical skills and academic knowledge that will help me to build economic understanding. Thank you for the honest opinion that really matters in today's world.
Honesty above all! Thanks for being present here and on LinkedIn as well!
Second video, and I'm enjoying myself! Thanks, Mo!
Glad you enjoyed the second one as well! Keep on watching haha
Talk the talk, walk the walk. Good one. So many are just talk only.
It's a good line indeed!
Thank you @Mo Chen. I have been thinking of changing career. I thought about Data Analyst but I work in Finance and always working on data.
At the same time, I thought it doesn't matter but improve my skills. I have been learning advance Excel skills and applying it to my current job. Stakeholders in my current employment appreciates visualisation of data.
Everybody loves a nice visual haha
Thank you .good information
Glad it was helpful!
Insightful 😊
I'm glad you liked it!
Coincidentally, this just popped up for me today. Thank you, because although there are countless tutorials everywhere, I was still confused as to how to approach everything. I don't have an exact title in mind anymore and i guess that's okay.
Glad I could help!
Great!!
I'm glad you liked it!
Hi Mo, love your content as always. And I do think it is very useful and practical for your advice for not searching for specifically 'data analyst'.
But at the end of the day, when I start searching for new roles, I need to start with some keyword to search right? If I don't want to limit myself on roles, what kind of keyword that I could search into please? like 'analyst?'
Try a bit narrower than that. Marketing analyst, financial analyst, healthcare analyst, etc
Subscribed 😊
Nice thanks!
I am a data analyst with a passion yo investment. Please create a video on hiw to start and continue investment routine and do reasonable savings for data analysts who think of future.
I again appreciate your no BS approach. I still need practice with subquery/cte/windows functions. I think though, for my portfolio, my issue isn't the visualization it's the analysis. Can you do do an analysis only type of video? It find it hard to write up a problem solved project from kaggle data. I can only write up what I find in the data but there's no real way to offer a solution.
Good video idea! I'm not sure when / if I'll make a video like that. I don't want to make empty promises :) Without sounding like a salesman, my Ultimate Data Portfolio covers exactly this kinda of stuff. You should really check it out.
@@mo-chen Not salesy, you deserve to be compensated for your efforts and time.
@@newenglandnomad9405thanks for understanding. I know you’ve been here on the channel for a while, and I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your support! And btw, don’t take my word for the ultimate data portfolio. You should always do your research so check out what other have said here testimonial.to/ultimate-data-journey/all
True. Title doesn’t matter exact pays and gives options to staff’s performance evaluation. I have accounting background that real helps with my current role of preparing statistical data reports, clean up data, qa/qc the data manually. The best way to learn is to do the work and keep doing it to improve skills. Questions: i built overview/dashboard of data in excel manually. How hard to transfer that overview data into power BI data visualization?
How hard depends on how good your power bi skills are :)
@@mo-chen we can still transfer the excel dashboard into power BI correct?
I recently lost an interview because I was advertising myself as a data analyst. We were in a group interview and we were asked about our academic background. After responding that I am an econ graduate, I doubled on the fact that Econ was just glorified stats (tho untrue, I thought it'd give me an advantage).
The interviewers lost interest in me immediately and focus on other candidates from "other backgrounds".
I asked one of the interviewer what just happened, they mentioned almost the same you thing you did and they also added your ability to move from your past experience to learn and execute data skills is testament of your passion, resilience and curiosity.
Always make sure you present yourself as a well rounded candidate. Please watch the longer videos of mine, they will help even more! Try the podcasts!
@@mo-chen ok, I would do just that
I do not know why, sir, but every time HR reviews my resume, they reject it. I have a background in commerce, so perhaps that is why I listed four projects on my resume, including your project, London Bike. I completed the course on data analytics Python, SQL, and Tableau, and it seems like there is a project error.
Best
I’m a Data Analyst, or was Hired as one… it’s a trap… I’m a Power Apps developer and a Process Improvement Specialist…. I skilled too much and messed up.
Why do you say its a trap? And what skills did you learn that you don't need? Thanks
Lol, It was humor to the point where he mentioned using your skills to get into a position. I have had an administrative background for the past 10 years and that included me getting my six sigma, pmp and having very in dept knowledge about Microsoft 365. I have been trying to get my foot in the door for years and I while I do have a degree in business analytics, the experience is where I hurt. I had a team that I interviewed for that was excited about my admin background because their organization was a mess. But they were mostly excited about the fact that I could dual the position as the teams admin and then work as an jr analyst under the senior team. Me personally I’m totally okay with it, I got my cake and can eat it but it just goes back to the point of pulling all the stops. Once you get your foot in the door, show them you are capable. If you are coming from no exp.
