Mam but please can you tell me hiw can i get a license for UA-cam... So that if anyone copies my song it will be displayed in the description with blue title...please tell me the procedure
I have had several original songs I published on UA-cam get copyright claimed, including a live improvised guitar solo. UA-cam is apparently not so careful about who they allow to claim copyright ID since they grant that privilege to thieves and liars. In any case, thanks for making a video that explains the process far better than UA-cam itself did.
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy thanks for the tip. I’m not sure if I’d trust a third party with content ID of my channel by having them upload my entire music library though.
You rock girl. Thank you so much for making this video. I assumed that with a copyrighted song that I would immediately want it to be in the UA-cam content ID system. Your video made it clear that the intent of content ID is really for content owners to be able to track and dispute other UA-cam creators who are using your content. Since we have a brand new album coming out and nobody using any of that content yet and no disputes being needed then there's no need for us to be in Content ID. I thought Content ID was a proactive measure to protect all our content up front but it's clear from your fine video that it's more of a reactive tool for when problems arise from other creators using your copyrighted content. I would love to see more videos on this subject specifically regarding how new copyrighted content creators can protect their works and monetize it without middlemen. Thanks again!
You're welcome, John! With your brand new album that's coming, it's still a great idea to have your material inside of content ID, because when people hear your music, and view your videos, they may want to use it. That's a great way to help market your music through other creators, and when they do to monetize it. In order to do that, you need to do both, have it in content ID and become a member of the youtube partner program. You can do this through the distributor you choose to release your music through, use Audiam or wait until you qualify for both content ID and the partner program with youtube. That's the only "No middleman" option right now. Thanks for watching! Don't forget to pick up your checklist for your new album release on my website! Smile...
The Music Business Made Easy oh so you can use both UA-cam partnering program with and outside content I’d provider like song trust together. What about the money breakdown then. Will UA-cam and sound trust etc take a cut out of your content I’d royalties. But on you channel with the partnering program UA-cam only will take a cut. This is what I’m getting
@@oO5Dynasty I'm so sorry, I'm just seeing your comment. If you choose a music publishing administrator such as songtrust to do your youtube monetization, then, they will do that for you. You can do it yourself, or have an administrator do it for you.
I submitted copyrite info , business info label proof to block or takedown content. UA-cam told me the uploader of my works was legal. They simply ask them is it theirs and if they said yes I lose right as the claimant. Also some of my uploading of my own work had copyright claims from others.
If your work has been claimed as copyrighted and you are trying to dispute the claim, your best bet is to provide UA-cam with documentation to dispute the claim and prove that your music is original, such as contracts, licenses, or Content ID. You can also contact your distributor to help resolve the issue. If you are still having issues, continue to contact UA-cam and try to resolve the claims appropriately.
I have some questions, I already had released music on any major streaming platform specially on Spotify, but I don't have any Content ID with that. I wonder how to register it to avoid reuse and reuploading to protect also my work.
If you want to set up Content ID, you need to check if you have access to Content ID through your UA-cam CMS account or by distributing your music. To protect your music on other streaming platforms, you can protect it by managing rights, registering your music, and using various distributors or licensing services.
I have a question I upload my songs from the distributor, Destroked, and activate the Content ID. Is it required. Is UA-cam that I am one of UA-cam's partners so that I can receive profits from the videos that use my songs, or is this not required as long as I upload songs through the Distruked Distribution Company??
Summary: With Content ID enabled, you will be able to earn revenue from your music when it is used in UA-cam videos, but you will not be able to earn revenue from UA-cam ads unless you are a member of the UA-cam Partner Program (YPP). If you have protected your music on UA-cam using Distruked or another distributor, this will allow you to detect unauthorized use of your music and earn revenue, but YPP is required for full monetization on UA-cam.
I have an album with an aggregator who refuses to give me a content id for that album, because of the so called ‘criteria’. I am told that it is not possible because I have used some drone sounds from Synthesiser. I have repeatedly told them that using a synth sound is very common in music industry. I have them examples of many other albums which have used similar type of sound and have the content id. In fact, one of my another album with similar sounds has been given a content id but not this particular one. This album is very popular on youtube and many people are using it for their videos and I am losing the revenue because of missing content id. Can you guide me how can I solve this issue?
In order to monetize on UA-cam you need to qualify to become join the UA-cam partner program. You need 1000 subscribers and 400 watch time hours during a 12 month period. Or you can use your distributor or third party to monetize on UA-cam for you. musicbusinessmadeeasy.com
If your album has not been assigned a Content ID and you have used synthesized sounds, you should contact the aggregator again for advice and assistance. You can restore monetization of your music by contacting the aggregator or UA-cam directly and ensuring that the Content ID system is working properly. If these steps do not help you, it may also be helpful to consult with a music industry attorney or legal professional.

When you go to the copyright office, they may accept your copyright registration or endorsement. In many countries, copyright registration is not required because copyright is automatically granted by the work created (i.e., when you create the work, the rights immediately belong to you). However, in some places, copyright registration offers additional legal protection and endorsement options. Benefits of registration: 1. **Use as evidence**: If there are future legal disputes over your work, a registered right will help prove your copyright. 2. **Legal protection**: In some countries, registration increases the level of legal protection and acts as stronger evidence in court. At the same time, the copyright office will usually provide a list of works and documents required for registration. A copyright registration number is only issued after the office has approved the registration process. If you wish to register your work with a copyright office, the process will vary depending on the laws and procedures of your country.
Concise, informative video... one question though: What happens if the copyright/content owner has not reached UA-cam's partner thresholds and yet the 3rd party has, and is trading on that copyright material? I've noticed that a lot channels trade on (and have lots of subscribers from) other peoples songs, videos & original content.
When you use the term "trading on that copyright material"... I'm not sure what you mean. If that is, in using other creators songs, they are growing their channel, then, ok... yes, I understand. You don't have to wait to reach the threshold to start monetizing your songs. You can use a third party to start doing that for you. When another creative uses copyrighted material, and you see ADS on that material, it means that the owners have chosen that option with their material. Once content ID identifies the material, those creatives who used the material as well as the owners are identified. The owner can choose to have it taken down, or to allow ADs top be put on the material. Or allow them to use it because it gives opportunity for promotion and for their works to gain new viewers. UA-cam is very diligent about intellectual property and definitely monitors the process. They are not just using it without it being flagged.
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy Thank you for your reply... I wasn't aware that even before one's own channel reaches the 1000 subscriber/4000 watch hours threshold, you can get paid from other peoples channels for using your original content if you're accepted for the Content ID program... which is great. What about, for example, venue or fan recordings of live concerts? Wouldn't the intellectual property rights to exploit things like that normally be vested in the people contained in the recording?. It's just that since everyone has a camera-phone now, it seems that 'ownership' is assumed for whatever is captured. Or, again for example, if someone digitizes their audio collection and uploads it as a one-stop-shop for fans of that genre.... is that considered 'legal' as long as long as no Content ID or Copyright claims are lodged? Anyway, enough from me :-) ... and thaks for such a great channel!!

I am now working with several African musicians that I need to help publish and collect the monies for them. Hi Mariea Can you tell me how to find out if someone uploaded my released song on Spotify or Apple? Yes, I can check before my release if this song is available on DSP or not, but after my release, how to know if anyone re-uploaded my song?
Thanks for sharing! Can I do this after I make music and upload it to UA-cam? What if I don't have 1000 subscribers yet, should I wait? Thanks so much for sharing!
You can apply at anytime for UA-cam Content ID. The 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours is for the UA-cam Partner program that allows you on your own to monetize your channel.
I''m tired of multiple record labels illegally claim copyright on my performances of classical public domain music, each time I upload a video! Would getting and account with Adiam make me able to create a content ID for each video prevent Them doing it? I'm not eligble for the Partner program, and IT is rather discurraging, that YT err by default, violating my intellectual property, so I each time has to start a new dispute!

@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy Thanks for your reply, yes I know a claim is not serious, but the principle, that a production company claims pennies for "likeness" which impossible to argue, even though classical performances of the same piece sounds the same. I'm not bothered that UA-cam claim a revenue, they have the costs, but that a random label, think they are in the right by using a cover version rule, for public domain music where it doesn't apply, and youtube looks the other way! @@syafiqsafwanproduction that's the million dollar question! I tried to explain as much of that in the video. They really have to monitor and manage publishers with huge catalogs, therefore making it difficult to let everybody in. It's easier to go through a third party to monetize. You can use your digital distributor or any of the ones mentioned. There are publishers with a large number of songs, that are not easily accepted. You should contact UA-cam.

Hi. Can I monetize without content ID? Also if I use content ID does it do it for every video or can I choose which ones can have content ID? I have a few videos where I use music from this UA-cam channel that said it’s free for profit just put link in description and don’t use content ID, will I be able to monetize it? Thanks
Monetization Without Content ID If you are not registered with Content ID, your ability to monetize on UA-cam may be limited, as Content ID is the primary means of monetizing videos that use your music. Content ID identifies your content in videos that use your music on UA-cam and allows you to monetize it if the video uses your music. Having such a system makes it easier to monetize if others use your music. If Content ID is not available, other mechanisms must be used to re-identify or monetize videos that use your music. However, this can only be done with high-quality and accurate monitoring, and monetization can be difficult.

Hi , I am a Songwriter and Copyright owner. As I get notification for sharing revenue when I cover some songs. Do you know what to do if I want to get sharing revenue from people cover my song on their video. I took down more than 30 videos, because I don't feel that's fair to me. I tried many times ContentID but seems like it doesn't work. I ask some of the cover video privately if they got notification for sharing revenue and they said no. I use Distrokid as publisher and also UA-cam money, they only work for music that I produced but not for cover. I also emailed copyright youtube but the answer didn't meet what I need. It would be great if you know what I suppose to do. Thank you ❤
When you cover someone else’s music and you are offered an opportunity to share in the revenue, it means that the owner is being kind by offering that opportunity through their monetization. If they didn’t and notified you to take your videos down, it would result in a strike on your channel. Distrokid by the way is a distributor not a publisher. Using them to monetize on UA-cam is fine, yes for your music because you own the copyright. If someone else uses your music in their videos, you will be notified, or distrokid excuse me would be notified since they are monetizing for you, and distrokid will allow them to use it but will cause UA-cam to place ADS on their videos and you will get your share of that revenue from the ADs through distrokid. Content ID is difficult as stated to be approved. So you are using a 3rd party which is doing the job. Any song that you distribute through distrokid and you opt in for their monetization on UA-cam for those songs you distribute through them, it will be taken care of by distrokid. Any music you upload on your own will not be monetized, unless you are approved for the UA-cam partnership program. You must have 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time within the last 12 months to qualify for that. Content ID scans to see which of your videos are being used. This is why many choose a third party to handle monetization for them. I have a video that I recommend you watch called UA-cam Copyright Strikes vs. Content ID Claims to better understand the process for which you are dissatisfied. It shows you what happens when using your own music vs cover music.
@@JuliaPardede that’s great! Then why are you also using Distrokid to monetize for you on UA-cam if you are self monetizing? Please watch the video I recommended. It should clear up some things for you. God bless and you’re welcome.

Geez.. Just saw this video and (I need to do some more research) small independent artist that uses tools like "Distrokid" are still going to miss out on royalties opportunities that are missing the “Music in this video.” sections. Like Ms. Watkins said "going to be difficult, but not impossible". However, UA-cam's ideal of reinventing the wheel only makes it easier for those with a decent active following and watch count benefit from this program.
You mean they filed a claim. The music that you developed from scratch, is that your music? Do you own the copyright? If so, you just dispute the claim. If not, you used the material without prior permission and the owner can refuse to allow you to use it, monetize it, mute it or have it taken down. In which, you will get a strike. In this case, they had it taken down, and you received the strike. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it if you don't own the music except get a license to use it, then when the next claim comes, dispute it and upload the license to show that you have permission to use it.
03:49 「please provide a list of the titles of your copyrighted work so you are seeking to protect.」 may I ask what does this mean? means I have to upload another video to prove that was my project, and copy the video link to that list(?
They want you to list all of your songs that you want loaded in content ID. An actual list of the titles of the songs that are yours (your copyrights) that you want in the system.
I’m having a problem where I distribute a song after it’s submitted I drop a video but my song doesn’t pop up under video as my song etc will this help me thanks
I’m not sure what you’re asking. Do you mean you don’t see any credits? If that’s what you mean, if you are uploading your own videos you have to put in your own attributions. With your distributor did you choose for them to monetize for you on UA-cam? If so, they will upload your songs/audio and it will contain your credits. If you apply for content ID, yourself, if approved, you then will have to join UA-cam’s partner program in order to monetize your videos. This is one part of it. If you use a distributor to do it, you won’t need to do this yourself.
The Music Business Made Easy I send song to distributer it uploads Spotify etc next day I upload a music video with the song on UA-cam but nothing pops up as my song etc
Federalboydon ok, any song you upload on your own you need to put in your credits in the description. It’s not going to magically appear. The audio that the distributor sends to UA-cam will, if you chose them to do that.

Dispute a Content ID claim If your video has a Content ID claim and your songs are not actually used in other content, you can dispute the claim on UA-cam. This process is called a "Dispute." How do I do this? Go to UA-cam Studio. View the claim notification (you can find this notification in the monetization section of the video). Click the "Dispute" button. Complete the requests you are given (for example, verifying that no unauthorized material is used in your music). UA-cam's system will review your claim and take appropriate action.
What if someone is using a song I wrote and/or a song where I own the publishing (not a master recording, just the music publishing rights). Presently there's a song I own publishing on that just lists the master recording owner. Since I own the publishing, I should be listed in the credits as a claimant, and be able to share in the monetization of that video right? Love your video.
David Holler, thank you so much! Yes, owning the Publishing entitles you to performance royalties paid to you by your PRO. If it’s a sound recording that was uploaded to UA-cam by a distributor, your share of royalties be paid to your PRO who will pay you regardless to if you were listed in the credits. . If a creator makes a video and uses your music, then you can reach out to UA-cam to inform them of your ownership. You’ll be given options how you want to proceed. If the video is being monetized, it will cease until either the dispute is acknowledged or taken down if you request that. I have a question if me and another own the rights to the same song for instance let's say I'm a artist and I own 50 percent and the producer owns 50 percent and we want to uploaded on each of our channel on UA-cam is there anyway we can add splits on the UA-cam content I.d so it won't be any issues?
That’s not where the splits would happen. It happens in your song registrations who pays the royalties. Also, both channels would have to be monetized (UA-cam Partner Program) in order to get the money, and set up with Google Adsense to get the money from ADs.
You are not copyright your song with content ID. Copyrighting your music means to register it with the Library of Congress. Anyway, what you're referring to is the youtube's partner program. With that program, you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch time hours in order to be able to apply and then to have the ability to monetize your channel. Content ID is different. The application for that is what this video is about. You can literally use your distributor or a third party for content ID. Content ID makes sure your music is in the system and therefore it can be tracked when anyone uses it.
If my album is copyrighted already do I have to go through this whole process and if I monetized my video's on tune core is a tune core monetize valid?
Songdex is the music database for Music Reports. Songtrust acts as a music publishing administrator who will does all song registrations for clients who sign up with them. They are great! They take a percentage from all of the royalties they collect for you including those that you can collect directly.
Sounds like they definitely have different functions then. I'm finding out with Songtrust it takes about a year to register your songs. I wonder with Songdex is it the same time frame if I were to register my songs with them? All this is new to me.
@@hectorlopez5090 you’re still a little confused as to their functions. Watch my two videos on the MLC to understand the mechanical rights societies. They are now handling the functions of paying streaming royalties. Harry Fox and Music Reports did that until this year. Songtrust, if you use them will act on your behalf. It can seem overwhelming at first but it will make sense. Take some time to get the understanding!

Were you accepted into Content ID yourself, or are you using a 3rd party? I get them as well for my music. Either way, being in Content ID means that every time your music is matched, whether it's you or someone else, you will be notified. If there are no problems you should have the option to not take any action. If something went wrong and the system made a mistake you need to go through the ‘dispute process’. You can view the claim details from the message they send you. Reach out to them through that and let them know that you are the Artist. Are you using a different name from your Artist name? Hello! Good video! I just want to ask you. So, I'm a new musician. I do my own music. I haven't had any collisions with copyrights and etc. So I want to protect my music. What should I do to get copyright on UA-cam on my music?
First, you need to register your music with the Library of Congress. Your music is protected once it's recorded down in any form. The library of congress provides injunctive relief in case you have an infringement case. This protects your music everywhere including youtube. Using or monetizing your music on youtube, you can use a third party to do that, your distributor, Audiam, Adrev etc. Otherwise you'll need to qualify for UA-cam's partner program.
very satisfied i cam across this vid im not having major problems but deff content id matches which are getting aggravating and interfering i usually lease or jus take a beat from youtube and use it for non profit because of this new rule do i need tk register all my songs with content id system or is there any way around it lets say i do a freestyle and i post it on youtube obviously more then one person are using that beat how do i prevent that from being a content id match under someone else who used the same beat ???? really having a difficult time understanding this crazy new system they got goin on smh
Glad the information is helping! Unfortunately, if you're using someone else's beats, and those beats are in the system, you will be flagged on them. It doesn't matter who else is using the same beat. They will also be flagged. If you apply for content ID, with someone else's beats, you still will be flagged because the material is not yours, only the freestyle or rap on top of it. You will have to continue to deal with those. Even if you used a company for your content ID, everytime that music will be flagged. So, the only other option would be to create your own music, or continue to use the music and acknowledge that it's someone's else's material, and they would have to choose whether to monetize it or cause it to be taken down.
oh ok but what if i leased the beat for example i had got a content id match because when you lease the beat more then one person can use it he only had 1 view but right when it got uploaded i got a content id match but he had his registered with a content id company mine was not so should i go ahead and register the leased beat i bought to content id
@@youngmillionboy either way, because it is NOT your music, it will still be matched with content ID . Whether you apply for content ID or use a third party, you still will go through the content being matched.
❤ Great channel :) Question, if I use UA-cam Content ID through Distrokid, will my monetization in UA-cam be disabled? And can I have a UA-cam Content ID in Distrokid as well as in UA-cam? Thanks a lot!❤
If you're already monetized, why would you change that? Any current monetization will stop Distrokid from monetizing that same content unless you stop the monetization. You can only use one method. Through YPP, your distributor or another third party
so if your channel isn't monetized yet or meet the 4k watch hour and 1k sub that would mean you won't get the money from the ones that use your music? Can you claim it even if they are only using it for a few seconds?
I have a question can you make a video about what is "that machine" every artist that's signed to a big label mean exactly "I signed a deal to get that machine behind me"
It basically means the label has the finances, the network, and the connections in place to help an Artist have a better chance to succeed. However, at a great price. The Artist will have to pay every single penny back and then some to make any money themselves. The label will take money from the Artist from every revenue stream they have. Not that glamorous when you read the terms of the contract!
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy I finally found out what the machine is thank you so much. I already have tunecore, bmi, and SoundExchange is Songtrust even needed at this point?

You're welcome. To monetize you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch time hours within a 12 month period. Then you'll need to apply for the UA-cam Partner program. Or you can monetize through a third party such as AdRev, Audiam, HFA etc.
can I ask you a question ? If I have a big cleaning to do for a friend since many people use his rights for which he holds the legal evidence and documents, so I will make several challenges, did you know if making several requests will cause me trouble with UA-cam? I only want to protect the content of my friend for whom I have a contract that gives me permission to represent him, the vast majority of this content are videos of him performing. Thanks
To have his music played by others on their channels, in my opinion, is actually a good thing! The more people use his material, (provided they are giving proper credits), that's free publicity as well as an opportunity for you to have his music monetized making him money. It also should let you know that people think his music is good enough to want to use. That's also great! However, If he wants the material removed and you are his representative, you need to contact youtube to begin the removal process. Publishers and representatives, do this all the time, so that should not be your concern. I would look at how to use those opportunities to propel his career even further!
thank you very much, wow you are an angel for me today! I imagine that I have sent all the information to this address youtube: copyright@youtube.com when my artist perform a coversong on a tv show, I understand that he does not have copyrights for the song but the video is identified with his name on several youtube channels and it is him and his voice that we hear on the video, what would be the possible remedies in this situation ?
The Copyrighted works part in the form means that the content must already be registered for copyright(which is EXPENSIVE AS HECK) or can it be just music that's uploaded on UA-cam?
@@alandunaway3000 gotcha! It’s always best to have any music you’re going to publish registered with the Library of Congress.
Smile...

@@DjReynaldsMorales in your dashboard, distributors list the platforms they distribute to. Most do have UA-cam.
Hey, I'm also facing a similar situation. Could you update us on whether or not you got approved?
If you want to set up Content ID, you need to check if you have access to Content ID through your UA-cam CMS account or by distributing your music. To protect your music on other streaming platforms, you can protect it by managing rights, registering your music, and using various distributors or licensing services.
I have a question I upload my songs from the distributor, Destroked, and activate the Content ID. Is it required. Is UA-cam that I am one of UA-cam's partners so that I can receive profits from the videos that use my songs, or is this not required as long as I upload songs through the Distruked Distribution Company??
No it is not required, but an option in order to monetize on youtube, especially if you don't meet the individual requirements on your own.
Summary:
With Content ID enabled, you will be able to earn revenue from your music when it is used in UA-cam videos, but you will not be able to earn revenue from UA-cam ads unless you are a member of the UA-cam Partner Program (YPP).

Do they accept copyright the proof you went to the copyright office and have a register number?
@@CMLP_Publishing you’ll have to submit that anyway for your application…
When you go to the copyright office, they may accept your copyright registration or endorsement. In many countries, copyright registration is not required because copyright is automatically granted by the work created (i.e., when you create the work, the rights immediately belong to you). However, in some places, copyright registration offers additional legal protection and endorsement options.
Benefits of registration:

Register it with the library of Congress, ASCAP or BMI.and the MLC.

Monetization Without Content ID
If you are not registered with Content ID, your ability to monetize on UA-cam may be limited, as Content ID is the primary means of monetizing videos that use your music.
Thanks again for the help. twice in 2 weeks. I have a song that received over 400k plays on youtube but don't know which video has the track in it. This was amazing help and submitted a request :)
Wow that's great! Is it your video that you uploaded?
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy No, the audio is sync to a video on here. I tried to get content id access but they didn't approve it and said to file a copyright claim instead. I just want to see which youtube channel has the song posted in their video.
@@DJASHANI UA-cam usually notifies the video with your music on it when you file a claim. They would have to reach out to you if they wanted to do that
Hi , I am a Songwriter and Copyright owner.
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy I am on UA-cam Partner Program and already monetized. Thank you dear for share this 🙏❤

Dispute a Content ID claim
If your video has a Content ID claim and your songs are not actually used in other content, you can dispute the claim on UA-cam. This process is called a "Dispute."
How do I do this?
That’s not where the splits would happen. It happens in your song registrations who pays the royalties. Also, both channels would have to be monetized (UA-cam Partner Program) in order to get the money, and set up with Google Adsense to get the money from ADs.
How to get youtube constant I'd
The video explains how…
Hi, can I copyright my song when I don’t have 1000 subs because then people who use my music will get copyrighted is that possible?
You are not copyright your song with content ID. Copyrighting your music means to register it with the Library of Congress. Anyway, what you're referring to is the youtube's partner program. With that program, you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch time hours in order to be able to apply and then to have the ability to monetize your channel. Content ID is different. The application for that is what this video is about. You can literally use your distributor or a third party for content ID. Content ID makes sure your music is in the system and therefore it can be tracked when anyone uses it.

Hey hopefully you see this! So, would an artist that only bought the mp3 lease to a beat register their song in the content id database? No right?
You wouldn’t be approved for one song. It would be easier for you to monetize to UA-cam through your distributor or a third party company.
If my album is copyrighted already do I have to go through this whole process and if I monetized my video's on tune core is a tune core monetize valid?
Copyrighting your album once is sufficient. If you chose for tunecore to monetize for you on UA-cam you should be fine.
What do you think about Songtrust? Is it anything like Songdex in anyway?

You need to let them know that as well.
