I didn't realize people have been having problems with the original Pi Zero W.
I have two hotspots with them and they work fine (including the web UI). 🤷♂️
It's the limited RAM...zram-tools helps ALOT with fixed/low RAM SBC's by allowing a compressed RAM space swapping instead of swapping out to the SD and burning out the card pre-maturely
