nice video... just the one i needed :) one question though, if i don't have suica or pasmo, where to buy the 1 trip ticket from Umeda station to Kyoto Kawaramachi? is there special ticket machine for this train?
Thanks for the video. I didn't get time to ride the Kyo-train last year but I hope to on a future visit. I used to live in Itami in the early 90s and ride the Hankyu trains everywhere to work in Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto. One of my work sites was at Kawaramachi station. It looks like the walls and platform of the platform area haven't been cleaned since that time over 30 years ago. I still love Hankyu though. Much classier trains than JR West.
Hi John! Thank you so much for watching my video and for appreciating my work! Yes, I agree with you. Hankyu trains really have a certain charm which I also love. Something about them makes you feel nostalgic and they also come up with interesting designs and collaborations every now and then. Yes, you should try to ride this Kyo-Tain Garaku the next time you are in the area. It sure is fun! Hi Donna! Thank you for watching my video! Yes, I agree with you. This Garaku train is too nice to just be a regular commuter train. Thanks to Hankyu Railways that we are able to enjoy it at such low cost even though they run during weekends and holidays only. If you come in early, preferably in Osaka-Umeda station before its first trip at 9:32am, I think you would have a good chance of getting a good spot. Thanks again for watching! Thanks for making this video! May I ask how much you paid for the round trip? It seems like you did not exit the station at Kyoto, so when you are back in Osaka, is it considered a one-way ticket fee?
Hi Kath! Thank you for watching my video! With regards to your query, honestly, it made me smile (and happy) that you actually noticed what I did. :) Yes, I was in a hurry then so I did not go out in Kyoto anymore but once back in Osaka, I went to the station staff and told them that I just did a roundtrip without going out of Kyoto Kawaramachi station. The staff told me that she would have to deduct the fare minimum of 410 yen in my card. I told her that she could actually deduct twice the amount since I did reach Kyoto intentionally. So she got my IC card and deducted the roundtrip fare of 820 yen. So yeah, I guess depending on your reason and the discretion of the station staff, you can actually be charged just the one-way fee of 410 yen. I hope I was able to answer your query. In case you haven't, I hope you can also consider subscribing to my channel for more useful travel videos. Thanks again for watching! I hope you are having a nice day! :)
Hi Selvi! Thank you for watching my video! With regards to your query, no, you don't have to make a seat reservation with this Garaku train. It runs like a regular commuter train so the cost of riding it is very cheap as well. Just please keep in mind that this train only runs every weekend and holidays, 4 times a day. I hope I was able to answer your query. In case you haven't, I hope you can also consider subscribing to my channel for more useful travel videos. Thanks again for watching! Enjoy your day! :)

It looked so fancy in all the pictures, but it just functions as a regular train (with its business). Hope to find a good spot when I visit.
