Another thing worth noting early on, you can farm screamroot from the ripe rampager in the estersands by stealing, also lets you create potion crates if you desire as well. you only need 3, which sell for like 1300 gil each, and you can buy the potion crate which yields like 50 or 60 potions, high potions and x potions.
I also remember in original PS2 grinding Quickening right after Rogue Tomato and killing the Wild Saurian over and over to get a Bone Helm, end being LV28 with Vaan.
If you want a good dagger for vaan before the royal Palace don't forget to grab the gladius from a rare wolf in the westersand he spawns after killing 20 wolfs without leaving the westersands and enjoy being overpowered if this guide helped you out haha 😁

you can be even more powerful by farming dark modes . Just hug the left wall when leaving nalbina fotress ( same area for flowered cactus hunt) and tou will get a chest that normaly gives dark modes. you can get about 20 in less than a hour. When you get a more simply double zonr Nalbina fortress and chest should re spawn. thn use thoe motes on diva talons in wester sands and hopw for a burning bow drop. T he way i do it is i set up auto zone where talons are a and if they dont frop when i kill , i simply re load auto save and try again this way i save my motes. Also you can only steal th dagger off Lind wolf so it has to be Vann and same as farming buring bow if i dont get steal i simply re load my auto save in Lind,s zone and try again. If you still want more powereful you can steal from werewolves in dry giz a plains for the Slasher axe. Werewolves are in east zone connected to bottom area save crystal. Alos dustia drops flame staff as well.
Yeah the auto save feature is really life saving in the ps4 remaster also about dark motes for me they never seem to do enough damaged for me to find them useful I'm not saying they are bad but from my experience they don't seem to good enough but they probably work better for everyone else other then me lol and yeah we farmed the burning bow the gladius the heavey lance and the axe from the werewolfs in giza the video was just long enough without them added bit (and I may have forgot to record it xD)
Hm. The talons wreck you before you can use enough motes. They just do a some weak 300ish damage. I'm dead before I can throw 5 let alone 15 which are necessary to kill a talon.
@@Avatar2312 Use 2x speed attack and you will be able to fire off motes faster. Also you dont need to wait for full animanation effect in between motes Take talon 1 at a time.
The knots of rust you collect are going to be your friends. Unless you use a magic or ranged build, you'll quickly find yourself helpless against flying type enemies. Plus, the damage they do make them incredibly useful against different boss types. Being able to put out upwards of 1k damage early game is a godsend. Especially since it doesn't have a charge time. And the sword of kings claps hard against all except the elementals, which it will of course do next to nothing against.
Attack items are iffy bc they don't have a "charge time", but you'll notice that they do have a longer cool down time than spells/technicks. Also, ZA seems to be much more liberal with motes than vanilla FF12 that it seems really rare for me to need to use them, even in the early game.
zone in and out collecting the chest at the dead end until you get 99 phonix downs, go to the Dalmasca Westersand/ Corridor of Sand at 10% HP, North section before the Dragon's Lair/Wyrm Next. throw a phoenix down at dustia. save you a few hours.

Ps2 not being forced into jobs for equipment was so fun don't get me wrong I don't mind the job system but man I really miss just swapping on the fly haha
I don't know about the zodiac age but in the original you can get much more powerful than the burning bow via using the brawler licence and not having any weapon/shield. You can be dealing almost max damage that way. I have just completed a run-through without using weapons, shields or offensive magic and have killed Yiazmat this way too.
Apparently commented here forever ago lmao but after playing TZA more since. Rare stealing Karkata in trial 3 and then going Knight would probably be the best method for damage without RNG manipulating the invisible bow
you actually CAN chain the dive talons... you would have to get the heavy lance ftom the rare monster Fidelant. Heavy lance is a 5 prcnt drop. use the heavy lance to take out the dive talons and have penelo heal you. Best to do this around level 40.
I played the ps2 version of this game like 5 times through and a bunch of just for fun partials. I only played the zodiac one once or twice. I just don't care for it as much as the original ps2 version. Maybe it is just because I played the ps2 version first, but I just always felt way more restricted in zodiac where in the Ps2 version everyone could get every point and I could swap them around however I pleased. Really wish they would release a DLC for the steam port that would let me swap from zodiac to the Ps2 version I played originally. I do still have my ps2 version (though my ps3 that could play it died) and I have my ps4 zodiac version. Just isn't the same.
I feel the same way I do enjoy the zodiac age but I miss the ways of ps2 ff12 I love being able to swap people's jobs on the fly made the game better in my opinion
If you're playing on pc, you can mod it using resources on nexusmods (though it's mildly more annoying than most games since you can't use the universal mod manager vortex) and add the ps2 style license board with all the extra zodiac age licenses added!
Love that you can basically go EVERYWHERE (pretty much all but the final dungeon if I remember right) from the moment you enter the game! Maybe not quite 'open' world (as the map doesn't randomly generate giving you infinate land to roam) but it's as open as linear world gets xD. When the PS2 game first came out I devised a way to OP yourself SO much that you can easily curb stomp those judges (and that's as far as I'd ever gotten without literally dying of boredom... and I'd tried MULTIPLE times!) but it took 40 hours. One commentor once told me in the video I uploaded 'so you spend 40 hours so you can breeze through the first 20 hours of the game?" Yes, yes I did xD for me this game is all about how badly you could break it (and it's OBVIOUSLY made to be broken! I mean they even built IN that invisible bow JUST like the devs saying 'fine here it's broken!') in a way no other game has ever been lol love it xD though the actual storyline is boring as hell IMO.
not really, you only have access to the lower level portion of dalmascan deserts and dry giza plains, but after defeating vossler you gain access to a lot of zones and dungeons before you are able to access phon coast
Eh? Pretty sure Phon Coast is not accessible until story events, and even before that you can't access other portions of the game until other story points
To get that bow you need to progress till after the royal palace as its unobtainable until then if I recall correctly plus I'm not a massive fan of the rng manipulation to get it all to work it can be a bit of a hassle
Unfortunately there isn't any guaranteed way to do them the best thing I found was mashing r2 and x and quickly as I could an easier way if you don't want the exp is use quickening to lower the health of the dive talon and use the auto save feature (which I think I showed off in this video) to making killing it easier but lose out on the exp
can you do a lets play of this game where you use these methods to become max level before royal palace and then do a full play through? maybe do a max difficulty if there is a difficulty setting?
I could definitely do something like that if enough people was interested as it does take a long time to get set up i could maybe do something like that in a stream perhaps
I can't for the LIFE of me seem to have any luck whatsoever on the mist attack, at best I get the Talon down to about ten percent hp, and then proceed to get clapped. I somehow managed to get 4 burning staffs though farming Dustia up to about lv 24 :P
If that's the case use the save crystal to recharge the mist and hope for the best and if worse case use lp to buy another mist attack to make it a bit easier to chain a few more and mist attack damage is so random I don't like it personally but it helps with farming at this point
@@LostSins_ I hopped back into the grind and just realized that the Talon's health doesn't reset when recharging at the crystal. So stoked now that I have an autosave file that drops me into the game with the Talon's health at guaranteed one shot regardless of mist chain. Thanks again for this video!
@@seansnyder7744 yeah unfortunately it's a 1% drop unless you can get chain level 3 longest I ever spent farming for it was about 5 hours that was just some bad rng that night haha
Can't you petrify or poison those birds? If you use petrify you keep the chain going after you beat some other monsters first and get the loot bonus. Or does it just not work in Zodiac Job System anymore?
So. Is it better to kill the talon, save, reload and kill again until it drops the bow or does rng allow me to just reload the auto-save, when entering the zone and kill the same bird until the bow drops, saving time on one hand, but losing out on 2.000xp for each kill on the other? Or can I skip the bow alltogether if I manage to steal katarka (which ironically happened on my second attempt, after I needed to grind some LP for the second quickening) and just collect 1.100 LP to get the license on the knight to unlock? With 94 attack Vaan should be in god mode not needing the bow. I can still try to farm it later with other party members.
It depends on what you want more the exp or the bow if you want to prioritise exp save reload rinse repeat if you want to save time in terms or farming then reloading the auto save is faster however if you want to use knight use the sword with 94 attack the only difference is what you farm for exp instead of the talons farm the werewolfs in giza as they are easier to respawn a quicker farm but only give about 1200 xp each iirc I just always go for the bow as I prefer the 2000 xp from talons but the pathing is longer and keeping a distance with the bow helps while farming stronger enemies

And, the FF 7 remake got too boring for me. But, if this story gets remade, I will make time to game again!
You build chain buy defeating the same types of enemies and regarding Dustia you can keep the chain by running from the westersands to the eastersands to the merchant that sells phoinex downs without going into town which stops the chain its a bit long but its definitely worth it
@@LostSins_ O Sagacious One, I appear to have lost both the Sky Pirates' Den and the Change Class options. How this happened is beyond me. Any suggestions?
Hot take, i dont think there is anything wrong with vaan and penelo. If anything, there is nothing wrong with the player not being the main hero to save everything. It's ok to be just an observer or part, with an empty back story so the player can make one for their character. Why so should we always be the hero of prophecy that does everything? What's wrong with the world running at its own natural pace and us just being the plain jane? when killing werewolves for the slasher, you can use vaan to steal teleport stones from them.
you can be even more powerful by farming dark modes .
@@Avatar2312 motes can be good but not really against them it's more used when the talon only has like 200 hp left over from a mist attack
Yeah knots of rust are useful I just feel like mine never hit for more then 18 damage 🤣
Attack items are iffy bc they don't have a "charge time", but you'll notice that they do have a longer cool down time than spells/technicks. Also, ZA seems to be much more liberal with motes than vanilla FF12 that it seems really rare for me to need to use them, even in the early game.
Man I haven't played this since it came out so good
I was the same and believe me when it released on ps4 I was so excited to play it again
i remember doing this on the ps2 following a gamefaqs guide like 15 years ago loool
Back on the ps2 I did this exact thing minus the trial mode I do love getting overpowered lol
zone in and out collecting the chest at the dead end until you get 99 phonix downs, go to the Dalmasca Westersand/ Corridor of Sand at 10% HP, North section before the Dragon's Lair/Wyrm Next. throw a phoenix down at dustia. save you a few hours.
Very true I was thinking about doing that but decided against as pure Dustia farming would've drove me insane
I love these kinds of videos, primal and this dude, damn, the hours wasted for our entertaiment.... respect for that
Haha honestly primal is the reason I even tried this but I also wanted to put my own spin on it haha I'm gonna be starting a new project soon
@@LostSins_ its nice to see other takes on these things, i love primals overpower series, but not everyone wants to spend 400 hours on beginning of game.
@@Narutsist very true tbh I only made this video because a viewer in my stream asked how I got to so overpowered before I'd even got penole lol
Farm diamond armlettes in the 1st room if trial mode. Bam! Easy street for gill
It really is my only problem with it is the ff12 loading is so long 😩
playing on ps2 right now, its awesome
Ps2 not being forced into jobs for equipment was so fun don't get me wrong I don't mind the job system but man I really miss just swapping on the fly haha
I don't know about the zodiac age but in the original you can get much more powerful than the burning bow via using the brawler licence and not having any weapon/shield. You can be dealing almost max damage that way. I have just completed a run-through without using weapons, shields or offensive magic and have killed Yiazmat this way too.
Yeah in the original brawler was alot more effective with all the license bored available although still good it's not as effective now IIRC
Is this the Dive Talon located in the Midfault in the Westersand or is this another area?
Apparently commented here forever ago lmao but after playing TZA more since. Rare stealing Karkata in trial 3 and then going Knight would probably be the best method for damage without RNG manipulating the invisible bow
you actually CAN chain the dive talons... you would have to get the heavy lance ftom the rare monster Fidelant. Heavy lance is a 5 prcnt drop.
use the heavy lance to take out the dive talons and have penelo heal you. Best to do this around level 40.
Yeah you're right I completely forgot the lances can hit flying enemies however giving penelo exp isn't as fun lol
Oh wow. I didn't know PS4 had x4 speed. Thought is was just PC like FFX/X-2.
Ps4 does have the speed bonus I really wish ffx/x-2 had it aswell unfortunately we don't lol
If you're playing on pc, you can mod it using resources on nexusmods (though it's mildly more annoying than most games since you can't use the universal mod manager vortex) and add the ps2 style license board with all the extra zodiac age licenses added!
which is this version that allows you to change jobs on the fly!? amazing!
It's the PS2 International version
Whats the name of the area the dive talon is in???
Oh I 100% agree with you there haha
not really, you only have access to the lower level portion of dalmascan deserts and dry giza plains, but after defeating vossler you gain access to a lot of zones and dungeons before you are able to access phon coast
Eh? Pretty sure Phon Coast is not accessible until story events, and even before that you can't access other portions of the game until other story points
Nice video so far by the way, I'm 10 minutes in :)
Glad you are enjoying it :)
Why not get the seitengrat(or however its spelled) the op invisible bow
To get that bow you need to progress till after the royal palace as its unobtainable until then if I recall correctly plus I'm not a massive fan of the rng manipulation to get it all to work it can be a bit of a hassle
@@LostSins_ fair enough:)
@bicarbonateofsoda117 but yeah if I was able to get it before the royal palace I would've gotten 6 for the video 🤣
i happened to watch primal liquid too, his method somehow similar to yours. Your method I believe is safest way to go. Yet to try it out 😅
AAAAAAAAHAH, LOVE THIS VIDEO ❤️ THANKS 👍🏼
Haha no problem I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D
Man, I"m bad at quickening... is there any tips that can guarantee there's button... I keep mashing x like crazy...
@@LostSins_ yeah man go for it. and then post it on youtube so i can watch!!
@@seansnyder7744 the beauty of the save slate only problem is you lose out on exp however its not that big of a deal lol good luck with the grind
@@LostSins_ Thanks! I'm gonna need it apparently. Grinded for about 2 or so hours last night and no bow drop lol
@@seansnyder7744 yeah unfortunately it's a 1% drop unless you can get chain level 3 longest I ever spent farming for it was about 5 hours that was just some bad rng that night haha
You can get the Karkata from trail 3
That is true but it all depends on the job you choose 1st I chose the archer job but if you pick a knight you can get that at the start
Can't you petrify or poison those birds?
If you use petrify you keep the chain going after you beat some other monsters first and get the loot bonus.
Or does it just not work in Zodiac Job System anymore?
I do believe it still works it's just not a tactic I like doing personally I quite enjoy the grind and watching the 1% drop haha
@@LostSins_ i suppose when you are putting hours upon hours into these videos you might as well do it this way :)
@@TheLastVoodooMan that's very true. I'll have to remember to do it if I do another final fantasy 12 video
I have been playing Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest (Warrior) games since they came out on the NES (Im 43). Final Fantasy 9 and Dragon Quest 8 were my favorite games in both series. Then I finally bought Final Fantasy 12 (after years of not gaming). This is now my favorite game to play and revisit. I won't play the new FF games (since FF 13 was a big disappointment to me). And, the FF 7 remake got too boring for me. But, if this story gets remade, I will make time to game again!
When the rest of the party joins, do they scale? Like in levels en LP?

You build chain buy defeating the same types of enemies and regarding Dustia you can keep the chain by running from the westersands to the eastersands to the merchant that sells phoinex downs without going into town which stops the chain its a bit long but its definitely worth it

This game would be an amazing open world, where we just learn about the lore and world of ivalice and do everything at our own pace.
Where are you playing the game? is this ff12 izjs or the zodiac age?
Its ff12 the zodiac age

After FF16 is done with DLC and stuff, FF12 definitely needs a remake with the same engine as FF16.
If they do, they should take Vaan and Penelo out of the story. Balthier and Fran make more sense as the primary protagonists, having ties to the game's storyline and themes respectively. Vaan and Penelo have next to no reason to be there, which I believe is why the story didn't work for many players.
