Sanguine tapped her front hoof when you started. Hi John nope I'm a boy or maybe 🤔 I could be a girl. Quiz time folks boy or girl?¿?¿?
The Royal Horse should put a effort to stay put. Don’t quit like that. That doesn’t show a good image. 🇬🇧🟥👑💂♂️🐴
Don’t follow the same way as the French Republican horses (go on patrol and immediately head back to the stable 🤣
@LondonCityWalks
Hello John. The horse you have identified as Sanguine is most definitely a Gelding. Either the list maker has accidentally put M for male or that horse is not Sanguine 😅
I’m so glad that Ron the tour guide agreed to be interviewed. What a lovely respectful man.
He's a gentleman , if I was going to do a tour I'd want someone like him !
@@kathellison8084 wonders😊 where he can be found.
To the people terrified of the horses, #1stay away from them. #2 don't scream around them and #3 remember it is a horse, NOT a T-REX. Calm down already!
Can’t believe people are so stupid. The horse is obviously stressed and the guard is trying to keep control and protect his mount.
Someone's going to get really badly hurt through their own stupidity here soon. That toddler running around during the second refusal was particularly worrying. I'm staggered by the lack of situational awareness.
It seems certain children are allowed to run feral with no thought for their safety or the safety of others ! Some time last year our friend Buska filmed one such little one running through the back of the box just after change over , through the horses legs ! He stopped at the foreleg reached out a touched it , he was so small the Trooper had no idea he was there ! He then ran along to the gate and back into the tiltyard , no one appeared to be looking for him ! I can't remember which video it was , when I've got time I'll look back .
The situational awareness reminds me of Yellowstone here in the USA. People walking up to elk and bison - “oh goody - look animals! Let’s pet them” and they get injured and wonder why?!! 🤦🏻♀️
@@KoriLinae I recently saw a video of an older lady attempting to get friendly with the bison there. She ended up being tossed, spun in the air and left unconscious on the side of the track. To add insult to injury the bison wandered off with her trousers tangled up in his horns as a souvenir. Witnesses suspected that she had been drinking. The English countryside doesn't have much in the way of dangerous wildlife but it has wildlife. I'm a countryside bloke and we learn early to just leave non-domesticated species alone. Mainly for the benefit of the animal in our case but the same standards apply. I suffer from a similar reaction to watching videos from Yellowstone as I do watching videos from Horseguards. Tourons are becoming an international phenomenon lol.
🦁🇬🇧🤝🏻🇺🇲🦅
@@kathellison8084 Just my opinion, some parents think they're at a cuddly zoo. Hello people, these are huge live animals!
Never 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️.
Oh goodness me 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Ron is ace. He sees, knows the rules and most importantly acts.
Sangin is a GELDING. And yes, you can get mares that large. Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
I enjoy your channel because you are very respectable to our Guardsmen and Women and you give good information on the horses.
Afternoon John what the heck is wrong with some people who just don't think. Seriously never get in the way of guards and their horses doing their duties. I don't blame him for quitting with tourists who act like utter idiots
They’re not quitting they’re just tired of all the stupid people!!❤❤❤❤😅😅
The girl in the black top standing creepily standing by the horses side for so long is one of the trouble makers that come in mass so often.
Definitely a gelding, John
Sorry that last text was for John. Lol. As for the girl in the black top, she's a member of that religious sect who Always causes problems when they visit. No respect at all.
Yep I recognized her
Yep definitely recognize her
Yes I noticed that too. As soon as the horse turned towards her she raised the camera in the horses face. Then the horses temperament started to crumble.
Tobago? He's such a lovely softie with a beautiful head and expression. I hope we see more of him. That was a really nice act John to give the tour guide air time. He was so grateful too.
my goodness just saw a video of a youth being arrested by calling Lady guard a sausage. thankfully police arrested him. see buska in the park who challenged the teen. such awful behaviour to the guard.
I saw that too, good on Buska.
He picked on the wrong guard the "Karen slayer " ! He was trying to get a reaction , she didn't give him one 😁. Silly little boy didn't realise the Trooper was female 😂😂😂. He wasn't expecting to be pushed up against the railings and the handcuffs slapped on by the MOD officers " I didn't do nuffink " 😂😂😂. " Do you want to phone anyone ? " " Yes Mummy ! " 😂😂😂
It’s logical to stay clear of a horse’s hind legs. 🤦🏼♀️
Peehaps some ppl feel safe that the guard has control and the horse is trained. Forget what the sign says.
@@maryastone1 Those hind legs can be lethal…
I'm baffled by some parents. I've been a nanny and have worked in a school with 4 - 5 year olds. You'd have a group of 6 children on a school visit, one adult to 6 children. I knew where my charges were ALL THE TIME!!! Never did I allow any of these children to wander off. I was very strict with my own boys..they held our hand when we went out to places.
What would happen if, God forbid, any child got trampled on by the horse? It wouldn't be the parents' fault!!! Sorry for the rant!!! Great video again John..thanks xxxxx
Common sense has left the building!!
Standing on the side of the horse back is actually a threat. Just like somebody standing towards your back would be a threat for you. They're not going to be comfortable with it
Totally agree.
I love the respect that you give not just to the troopers & horses, but to the tourists who are respectful of our history too
I have looked at the other channels, but like yours more because of, shall i say your(colourfull commentary) great
Oh my gosh ! The horse is clearly stressed, yet the tourists are oblivious to the harm the horse could do .... But you really do make me LOL with some of your comments 🤣
Just spent 2 weeks in London and visited the Horse Guards 4 times! The beautiful horses' coats are like magnets for your hands and the soldiers in their uniforms are awesome. Thanks for your vidoes John keeping my memories fresh.
Kind trooper to stay so kids could get pic. Awesome
This is an explanation of a crown & two Pips Colonel (Col) is a rank of the British Army and Royal Marines, ranking below brigadier, and above lieutenant colonel. British colonels are not usually field commanders; typically they serve as staff officers between field commands at battalion and brigade level. The insignia is two diamond-shaped pips (properly called "Bath Stars") below a crown. The crown has varied in the past with different monarchs; Elizabeth II's reign used St Edward's Crown. The rank is equivalent to captain in the Royal Navy and group captain in the Royal Air Force.
Thank you for the explanation.
John , so nice off you to interview Ron. He is a lovely guy and very respectful. So lovely when the young are like him. ❤️🏴
It's not you john, people are dense. Lol jogging through horse manure.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That trooper on Sangan is a first class horseman, gentle but firm, that's the way it's done. but he has his work cut out, as he has to do it with one hand, his left hand, most people are naturally right handed.
Love Ron! Thank you John for introducing such a nice guy! I’m really appreciating your videos, entertaining and educational - 80 yrs old on D Day and am loving my London City Walks without getting tired! x
God love you I too love watching Johns videos he makes me laugh he has the best sense of humour, his voice is very calming I find and he’s so respectful. Lovely guy.
Just a fraction older (born March 1940) and worked my yoof in still bombed out London (us working class lads started work at 15 years old and even a bit younger) To be honest so much of the London I now see on videos such as John''s is unrecognisable to me now.
The people should be stopped going through the box .Don’t understand why the police say nothing .
Probably happy to see them walking in the horse's droppings etc.
@@barbarahayden5602 😂🤣😂
Tourists have been told that some of the kings horses eat tourists for breakfast. I could absolutely be wrong but isnt tennyson the horse with the 2 raindrops on his nose?
Tobago reminds me of anguant puppy dognthe way he hangs his tongue out. He is sooo cute! Would defiantly get a good scratch from me. Its nice to see true professionalism rewarded with the tour guide. Rare quality these days. God bless!
Oh dear John I really feel for this Trooper he’s only been on ceremonial for a couple of weeks and he’s had a nightmare nearly every time he’s been Boxman with the horses playing up.
That is excellent training for the trooper, gaining more experience, things will get easier from here for him. Builds strength and character, weeds out the weak.
Gormless people standing around a horse that has been spooked and might bolt. GORMLESS.
I have learned that word gormless since hanging around here. It's a great word.
@@rhonda7070 Thanks for your comment, yes I love the word gormless too. I have a little hobby to look up words that are not used very often, It’s a word my Mum used often.
It’s from an old Norse word. I love it too. 😁
@@genny9026 well done us three. X
@@lyndahodge7552 😁👍🏻
Ron is a top man. John you are right to share about him. Good job. Can't believe all the fools going through the box!
oh yes, horses ain't stupid, if you let them get away with things time after time, they then get the upper hand, and then they do exactly as they wish.
Caught sight of Sangin’s Undercarriage and looked liked a gelding to me🐎
I love your respect for our guards. ❤
Great meeting Ron, I watched him pulled in the group who watches out for the Guard yesterday; and good on him. Thankyou for this video John. That poor horse was disturbed right from the beginning. He didn't want to be there at all. Brilliant: Kiwi
I notice that there was a lady with two kids that was touching the guards boot and he pushed her away. It was the trooper on Tobago.😂
Tobago is a character. Love his temperament. Talar is also a sweetheart 😊
I can not understand why when the idiot tourists come out of the gates they stop & block the gates . they act like they are the only ones there & the thousand other people behind are not. That being said it causes congestion around the horse . No wonder the horse feels closed in. IMO there should be certain restrictions when it comes to being around the horses.
Now in my mid-80s I can only view with horror how mass tourism has swamped the world. Mainly with idiots who have no respect or even interest in what they are seeing. Mobile phones haven't helped either, but you can't blame to tool for stupid owners. I read somewhere that the average 'tourist' will take 25,000 'selfies' in their lives - and we used to dread seeing someones 'holiday snaps with maybe 20 pictures in it!
I am sure that few could even rmember where they were from their 'selfies'. Who seriously wnats to look at photos of themselves in such quantity. Plenty of mirrors in most houses for egoists and masochists!
Hello John!! Excellent part 2 lots going on. Bless the horses just couldn't take any more and did you realise it's that box where the horse's don't feel right in it, not all but there has been a few kick off. 😮 I thought Don the guide was excellent he's a true gent just like you 👍 Thank you John stay safe.❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
I think that these poor horses and the nonsense they have to put up with I think we shouldn't call them quitters. They quit but they are not quitters
Good point.
Morning John. I laughed at the gelding identifying as a mare, comm. I was asked what gender I identified as when filling ou6a form.😂😂 I sai6 well as a mother of 4, grandmother of 5 and great grandmother of 11 and 73 years old I said I think I'm female .😂😂😂. Thanks for another great video. Val.🐨 💟
The height horses reach is all in the genetics. Mares and geldings from the same sire and dam can reach the same height. Apart from the temperament - and other obvious matters when there are mares about - geldings are chosen over stallions by the Household Cavalry because they’re often taller. The testosterone in stallions causes the growth plates in their legs to fuse at a younger age than with geldings.
Would it be an idea to start checking the level of common sense people possess to see if they actually have any at all before letting them anywhere near a horse. When a horse is obviously unsettled and there’s no telling which way it will go how stupid do you have to be to just stand gawping. Get out of the way - it’s not rocket science.
It was looking fairly obvious that Sangan wasn’t settled. He was pawing the ground, tossing his head and weaving and he just wasn’t happy being pestered by people.
Letting toddlers run around unsupervised in such a large crowd is never smart parenting - but when a a horse is stomping around its lunacy. As for the woman standing right behind Sangan it’s a wonder she wasn’t launched via the aid of a couple of iron shod hooves. Directly behind a horse is a blind spot. If it feels the need to fight off aggressors or predators it won’t wait to find out for certain if one is sneaking up on it - it will just kick out instinctively. There’s no contest in who would come off worse if you’re pitting the power of those back legs against a squishy human.
I watched one of Buska’s videos today with the trumpeter’s horse being spooked by the protest on The Mall. He was trying to settle it by circling it - with just one hand - and despite it kicking and rearing people just stood way too close. So, while trying to calm his horse with one hand on the reins- and stay in the saddle - he also had to try and navigate onlookers and people just casually strolling or riding a bike past. It was only his superb horsemanship that made it possible for them to get back to the parade ground without a total calamity.
I often wonder if there's a series of checkpoints before entering London where people hand over their brains and common sense before they visit ? The Trumpeter did a sterling job under difficult circumstances on that video , one hand on the reins , keeping hold of the trumpet with the other . I expect he was relieved to arrive back at Horse Guards .
@@kathellison8084 I think you may be right - the certainly seem to have ditched any semblance of common sense by the time they reach horse guards.
Thank you for sharing, John. Like so many others I will never get to London now, too old and the body is failing; I would love to have come there in the 70s or 80s though. You take care.
Thanks for introducing Ron. I'm glad to see at least one tour company with morals and a sense of duty. Love your videos, John. I don't love idiotic tourists who have no idea of personal safety. It made my skin crawl seeing these idiots just standing around while a thousand pounds plus horse is having a mini tantrum.
AND there was another obnoxious group there again!!
And we know who
I love that gates man star of your channel with his Mum and that German schoolteacher one is 1 of your best too
John, if I ever come to London, will you be my tour guide? 😅😅😅😅
John you say so many things that make me laugh . you're just a joy to listen to. TY from Oklahoma USA
Crown and 2 pips is the insignia of a Colonel.
afternoon john are some people complete idiots when a horse decides to quit you move double quick not stand there like an idiot
Tabago is such a fotogenic horse.
The Trooper riding Sangren is very good. Steady, solid, patient. Good job!
Thanks John...excellent, as always...
Ron is a good guy.
lol, horse telling gates man yes I am ready to go, I’ll follow you. 😊
Hi John last night thunderstorms wow, lets hope itts cleared the air and summer coming soon😄nice video and commentary. Love from London 🇬🇧😄😊😉🇬🇧
He saying no way I don't want to be around them people
Ron is a splendid guy
It looked like the horse who quit 3x hit a person with his bum while she was standing there trying to get a picture. I think she was wearing a red top john.😊😊😊😊😊
Yes, I noticed that but she didn't move out of the horses way. No sympathy for her.
@@christinegordon5372 me either, I felt for the guard and horse instead.😀🤣
Love this horse ❤
Ron is a gentleman. 👏
Hi jon.
Fab video again by you..can't for the life of me understand why you would not move when you have a very large 4 legged animal moving towards you ,its not like having a furry guinea pig is it!. Also those couple who wouldn't move at all are part of the friendly !! Group who have been removed before.
Also John have you noticed that in many of your videos the left hand box,the horses tend to play up. It must be haunted.
What a lovely tour guide Ron is and hands up to him for showing so much respect for our favourite place.
Thankyou
Gelding it appears to be. Happy Thursday John
Obviously a typo on the roster! (edit for my own!)😁
Crown and 2 Pips in the British Army is a Colonel. I looked it up on the modern ranks of British Army Officers. Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
John FYI and anyone else who may be interested. UK Army officers rank insignia: 1 pip 2nd Lieutenant, 2 pips Lieutenant, 3 pips captain, crown Major, crown +1pip Lieutenant Colonel, crown+2 pips Colonel, crown + 3 pips Brigadier, Crossed Sword and scabbard +1pip Major-general, Crossed sword and scabbard + crown Lieutenant-general, Crossed sword and scabbard, crown + 1 pip General.
What a lovely bloke Ron is. Keep up with the brilliant videos John ❤
Lot's of people don't have common sense when around horses and guards
5:50 as a teacher, counting your kids is a major part of an outing 🤣🙋🏻♀️🙆🏾🙋🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏼♀️🙅🏾🙋🏿♀️🙆🏼
“I’ve just seen the evidence, folks. this is not a mare.” omg, i love it!!!

Maybe when the tourist feels the force of a kick from a 600lb horse they may actually move …… or maybe not 🙄 brilliant video as always John 😊
The Asian lady at the beginning of the meltdown could have been really hurt . Oh John what is in the air? Plain stupid seem rampant at horse guards
Unbelievable to see the tourists not paying attention to the horse is agitated.
Thank you a lot for your videos, John! 👍
Like you said on one of your recent videos, someone is going to cut through the box and slip on the horse crap
Good
Waiting for it 😂😂😂
And John will be right there to catch it on video.
@@01yeloboss let's hope so. The problem?¿?¿? Or maybe it will not be a problem, is that John will start laughing and probably can't stop. 😂
Yep Sangin sure is a gelding you can clearly see his boy bits but perhaps he identifies as a mare 😂
Anyone else getting excited for Saturday afternoon when they will announce the winner of the "best turned out trooper" at the Windsor Horse Show!?
On yes 😀. I wish there was a way to watch it !
Sangin did seem like a Gelding 🙃
GM John, 🐎🐎 and UK from sunny florida
Minions in overdrive…😂😂🌻😎
Why do those people stand and stare at the guards?
Sangin definitely looked like a gelding to me but hey both horses and guards are fantastic.
The fools never let us down what ever happened to common sense oh there s a big horse heading my way maybe I should move no I ll just stand here what could possibly go wrong not only that but I ll allow my child to run around like it s some kind of child care facility what is wrong with people ❤
You need to ask Sangin what pronoun he identifies with.
Ja so ist es Schön die leuten müssen auf Seite gehen wenn ein Garde Wachman kommt Schön Respekt haben
A crown and 2 pips means the officer is a colonel,You have a great channel, i enjoy watching every day.
Sangan is a gelding, you can see when 'he quits' for the first time
Tourists are just so unaware. As they say never put down to malice what you can put down to stupidity.
Stupid is as stupid does
Why don't guards pull horses back into box when too many people are touching them. Too many rude tourists.
I really wish the visitors were more respectful. Being around horses pretty much my entire life - a lot of the horses are distressed by the crowding. Wish they would put a marked berth so the soldiers and mounts are not crushed upon. Respect
Sanguine has given those idiots plenty of
Warning. - He’s had enough idiocy to last him a week !!!! Can’t believe the fools not moving !!!
Wonder what the guards do behind the shop. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Me thinks either a quick sip of tea and either a bite of a bacon butty or cheese sandwich.🤣🤣
In fun... what do you all think
Love the Gatesman❤ He has great patience with the children and tourists❤
He is quite obviously a gelding ... Mares dont have that underneath and ro the tail end ...
I'm pretty sure that the number of people facing the box is too much for the horse to take
In these trying times, anything that can make people smile, or laugh, has to be prized! These horses do that, should be added to their value.
That gatesman is really one of the best blues and royals so much respect
People don't realize just how far the horses hind legs can kick out behind them, and especially how fast they can accomplish this... plus, they rarely miss. It's hard for me to believe just how uncaring and dismissive parents are with their own children. It's like "no big deal, we'll just make another one." Some people have no business having children. They just don't!!
You do an awesome job, John. I look forward to each and every one of your videos. Keep up the good work. ❤
Where is my Arnie
Hi John, i'm new to your channel and have enjoyed watching your videos over the past week, as well as catching up on older ones. As an English woman i'm ashamed to say i wasn't aware of the existence of horse guards until a week ago. I've loved every minute watching your videos and i'm now educated in what not to do 😂. I've never visited London but I now intend to 😊. Thank you
Better late than never Joanne! 😅
A very warm welcome to the Channel! ❤️
Great content as always, thanks John

Hi John. Watching Horse Quits 3 Times. Think you nailed it again with Talaa. Back hooves match, and star peeking out from forelock is lowest on horse's right side like yesterday. Thanks for all your jokes!
