What a wonderful life you have lived. I studied entomology at UCD graduating in 1968. I loved the bees too. Your comment about the almonds in bloom brought back memories of a field trip with Dr Norman Gary in Entomology bees. We were on a bus and got lost in the almond orchards. There are roads, but no signs. Every corner looks the same. We wandered for hours with the windows open and the almonds in full bloom. I know Heaven has a similar field trip.

Loved the story time!I used to run about 250 hives in the 70s and 80s making honey in Florida and made 4 moves per year as a side liner and i too had many crazy bee moving stories.I'm 71 now and all i do is make and sell a few nucs every year and i will keep doing it up till they put me in the pine box.lol.God bless Bob and keep making them bees until ya see the inside of the pine box.

Really enjoyed your presentation immensely. I came into bees late in life... in my late 50's. Have been fascinated with bugs most of my life since seeing my uncles bees swarm in his little peach tree. Now I've had 4 years in a row of 100% winter survival here in southern Pennsylvania. Love raising bees and selling locally raised queens and nucs.
Sounds like a success story to me.

Hi bob love your videos.bery educational! Im from the rogue valley. Been beekeeping for 4 years now. Lovn it. Knowing you kept bees here in the valley any pointers you could throw my way would be recieved with much gratitude. Always wanting and willing to learn more. Keep up the good work. And thanks again
It's been a long time since I had bees in the Rogue Valley. I'm sure much has changed due to the influx of people. I've been told by friends that many of the ares I had my best yards in are now developed.
In those days I had many yards close to Bear Creek all the way up the valley. It was you're best chance for summer honey in dry years. The best Yellow Starthistle yards were on the east side of I-5 and south of Medford where there was more black adobe soil. The black adobe areas were also where the pears seem to do the best. My guess is that most of the orchards I used to pollinate for are now gone. Most areas were fine in the spring but the summer was always the challenge. We lived in Wimer if you know where that is and the bees always did fine there in the spring but I never left them there in the summer. Same way with the Grants Pass area. Wow! Thanks , I know that drive though my story started late in life , I’m 54 working on my second yr went from 5 hives to 35 colony’s going to 50 by summers end . Oh had heart attack 2 months ago in process but I keep pushing love beekeeping! Been to the faculty there very nice though corona going on didn’t get to go in but I’ll be back for sure ! Thanks again !! God bless.

Thanks so.much for sharing your story! I'm 66 yrs and started keeping bees 6 yrs ago. I have trucked baby chicks, pullets, cattle and hogs but never bees. I can relate to those broke down stories and got a good laugh with your shared experiences.
You sir, are an American Treasure and a fantastic story teller. Just curious if you ever read Nopolean Hill's book " Think and Grow Rich "

Hi Bob Not the first video I've watched of yours, but the most interesting. In 1971 I started a vw repair business on n.main st. in Ashland oregon, and was wondering if you ever came in. Hanks Foreign Auto. Started bee keeping in September, and learning all I can. God Bless🙏

I haven’t watched it until now because I’m not a “Commercial migratory beekeeper” i doubt much of your audience is either. But most people like a good story, (my beekeeping story/journey) or something of that nature may be a more appealing title... I’m not a UA-camr so don’t take me to seriously. What was the very best investment you've ever made in your business?
In the beginning it was wood working tools like a table saw and radial arm saw and then learning how to use them. It's so expensive to build an outfit and the ability to make my own equipment helped me move forward quickly. Anytime I could pick up a piece of equipment that would pay for itself, wether it was in time saved or product produced, I did it. By the way, I'm puzzled why your UA-cam channel doesn't have more subscribers. It should.
@@bobbinnie9872 that compliment means a great deal to me coming from you Mr. Binnie. Woodworking tools...so in other words, it was THE equipment that allowed you to make your own equipment. I think my next step is to find someone with woodworking skills and barter for lessons.
