- After taking the world by storm as a member for the 6-time NBA Champion Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan tried his hand at baseball during the 1994 season. He played one season in the Chicago White Sox minor league season with the Birmingham Barons. Here is one of his three career home runs.

People think he stunk in the minors but considering how relatively new he was to that level of baseball he held his own. Truly a remarkable feat. But I wish he had just won two more titles. 😂
to be fair, most people's knowledge of his baseball career doesn't extend past Space Jam (which pretty much portrayed him as the worst player ever) would have been awesome if he stuck to baseball and actually won a series though
Karl Heinz Falderbaum - so he would have been 6-2 in the finals. Tom brady is 6-3 in Super Bowls and no one doubts he’s the GOAT.
tweezerjam34 Tom Brady is the GOAT because football is a lot harder to win rings than basketball
Ethan Baker / agreed- it’s harder in the nfl. But Brady also had the luxury of playing for the GOAT coach for 20 years. And MJ only played 15 seasons- just 7 with Phil. There’s a great argument for either guy, obviously. But I lean to MJ for the simple fact that if the argument is who is the best professional athlete among the big US four- brady isn’t an athlete. He has a great mind for the sport and position and has all the intangibles- but MJ is one of the most athletic people the world has ever seen.
Joe Montana is. Undefeated in the Super Bowl and never cheated.
This guys pretty good. He should tryout basketball
Probably might be one of the greatest basketball players too
@@LebronJames-zc8fl not sure man, I'm getting a weird feeling that little kid on your pfp is gonna grow to be something, different!👀
Idk he sure looks like he would be good at it! I dont think he could win a finals tho
yeah and jose altuve
@@Cheddah28 I think he’d be a bust like that Lebron guy
2hr and 44 rbi's is nothing to joke about, especially for a BASKETBALL LEGEND
Batting .193 …. If he swings the bat 20 times he might hit it twice at the most lol
@@TOGGGAA1 alr wheres ur AA stats
@@archastros I don’t play baseball, why would you compare me to Michael Jordan’s minor league career? Lmao didn’t think that one through did you?
@@TOGGGAA1 200 is considered fair. 300 is considered great. So it’s not bad.
@@h0m1ess 200 isn’t fair, it’s basically unplayable if you don’t have power. 250 is fair. Not saying that MJ didn’t play well, he actually hit 252 in his last season in the minors
A lot of guys couldn't hit .200 in AA, especially if they jumped straight there without having played baseball in like a decade. Ridiculous.
*Most guys
@@manuginobilisbaldspot424 ok thanks
A lot of professional athletes could but they know better than to make fools of themselves.
watch the 30 for 30 espn doc about this. terry francona was his manager for the Birmingham barrons. the terry francona that went on to manage the Indians and red sox.
Okay? Doesn't mean he did good. Yea he's the basketball goat but that doesn't mean his shit don't stick. Guys retired and never watches this. Riding his nuts still is pointless.
I was patiently waiting for Bugs Bunny and the Toon Squad to show up and pick him up!
I liked the part where Bugs struck out 3 batters with 1 pitch.
@@prayingmantis6777 LMAOOOOOO
No, this was AFTER Toon squad dropped him off
Imagine being 19 years old and sitting in the dugout with Michael Jordan.
Pitcher: Throws ball.
MJ: “It was at this point that it became personal.”
Bad day to be a baseball

MJ at home plate makes his teammates look like little league players. 😂🤣😂
Especially that first guy...

@@masonturb146 whoosh my dude, whoosh.
I seen this and seen the kid and was like damn he’s huge
is this not a kids game? does the scoreboard & bleachers not look like little league?
And he ended up having a .214 batt avg before ending his baseball stint. A big improvement.
Imagine those young guys getting to play Double A ball with Michael. Thats insane, great memories for sure.
Honestly Michael Jordan is the goat no matter what which any intellectually honest fan of basketball can see but I I just feel like it makes him even more the goat that he decided to go and play baseball despite the unknown effect it could have on his legacy and what people would say and think. Nobody will ever touch MJ.
I would say the only person who was close was wilt chamberlain
@@Histgyph I think that Wilt and Lebron are the closest in terms of freakish athleticism but mj’s mentality, legacy, and staying on the same team is what separates mj so far apart from those players in the goat conversation.
@@Histgyph I typed Kareem originally I meant wilt
@@followhim1203 true
Bill Russell probably has the best argument against MJ, but all academic at this point. I know one thing... Magic, Bird, and Jordan are the three *most important* basketball players of all time. Without Magic/Bird and then MJ taking the torch from them, NBA would have never reached such heights.
At the time l was pulling for MJ so much. I really was hoping he would tear up the minor leagues and be at the show within 90 days or so. That is what l was hoping for. I was disappointed for him, but he did immortalize one thing for sure.
He proved without a doubt that Baseball is a very difficult and unforgiving sport.
I got to see him play on the barons, and I got to see his only triple he hit. Truly was a great moment to witness. Something I’ll never forget.
Was given the G.O.A.T. title after the first three runs (championships)an the world was clueless that they’re would be three more too follow.
Fascinating isn’t it
People were delusional. How you gonna have 3 rings and be the goat?
@@treybrison5787 because of his otherworldly play
@@treybrison5787 cuz he was unbelievable on the court!
@@clydetheglidetop5sgtop10du7 yes after 9 years in the league.
MJ fulfilled a dream of his & I 👏 applaud his accomplishments both in 🏀 & ⚾️
He is a great player
The fact that he was already called the GOAT with only 3 championships, age 30, only 9 or less seasons played, he just can't be compared to anyone
44 rbi is a ton of rbi to have with such a low BA and so few HRs in the minor leagues especially. Dudes clutch no matter what sport he plays
People don't understand how crazy good he did for someone who didn't play baseball since middle school
-“Was it all that bad?”
-“No. Worse. Everyone was very nice about it.”
"You shouldn't be watching this. It's bad for you."

Nothing better than being great at BASEBALL ! Best sport to play !!! Hands down !!!
Hes no Bo Jackson but going yard EVER in AA after not playing baseball for over a decade is pretty damn impressive.
Can’t forget Deion Sanders, batting .260 for his career
@@theplugcharlie7483 odd fact: bo Jackson and Deion sanders both had home runs in the same MLB game
@@ryancusimano5892 I didn’t know that, another odd fact: Deion is the only 2 sport athlete to hit a home run and score a touchdown in the same week.
@@theplugcharlie7483Bo and Deion were different types of athletes. truly phenomenal
Jordan was too, but was 6'6 with shoes on and more competitive than both those guys combined 🤯
i love how he’s almost twice the size of everybody in the team 😂
At least that pitcher can say he gave up a homerun to the greatest basketball player ever
His stats weren't great but in context they're kinda impressive. He was 31 and hadn't played baseball since highschool and immediatley thrown into the fire at double A playing against legit prospects and guys with experience in the majors. If he was 21 instead of 31 he might have made it to the bigs eventually
He is the greatest ever! I remember sleeping all the time watching nba he always won. It got boring. I grew up in Indiana I met Bobby and my family/me is friends with bird.
It was exciting in the 90’s! Pop culture was awesome!
GOAT of Baseball
For anyone talking about his average there's a thing in baseball called the Mendoza line and every batter shoots for it basically shows that you're even with your hitting it's around 300 Jordan was maybe five at bats couple RBIs from hitting that Mendoza line with no progression in baseball since high school no training camps no spring training just hopped on baseball and did pretty decent
He’s a natural good at everything he trys
Being one of his teammates or opponents would have been surreal.
Yay Michael
Joe Knuxall and Marty Brennamen, two Cincinnati Reds radio legends...
"Slider, DON'T SWING"
The guy on third base that smacked had his old number
Just goes to show the level of athletics some of these guys have. Jordan is a basketball legend, and just decides he's gonna play baseball. Not in a pickup league, but on a professional level, and plays pretty decently, despite only playing basketball and golf for the past decade or so.
never seen so many people hate on a dude

He has a good swing
I saw him play baseball in person.

Crazy how people hate on him for playing baseball.
Terry Francona is quoted as saying had MJ stayed with baseball he believed he would have made the show on merit. Said he could see it all starting to come together. He believed a season of winter ball. Then a split AA and AAA and he would have made a roster the following spring.
Marty and Joe! Miss those guys.

He wasn’t good enough for a 99 ovr card
Noah Turner not cause of his skill but just for the culture
Marty Brennaman is doing the play by play and giving the interview? How is that possible?
Michael Jordan was a great athlete.
If he had put in the work and effort in baseball that he did in basketball, there's no doubt in my mind he would been a baseball Hall of Famer.

This guys really good, he should try black Jack
Imagine smacking Jordon’s butt after he’s crossing home plate. Lucky!
My son is close to do homerun. What drill or exercise should i have do?
His
baseball skill was getting better when he went back to basketball
Great in basketball great in baseball what else is he great in?
Were they playing the Chattanooga Lookouts???
He is so tall when he came home the other men looked like little kids
It was his dream to play baseball.
Marty and Joe on the call? Wow I had no clue, would love a rundown on how/why.. (edit) ok I see they're playing the Chattanooga Lookouts, longtime AA affiliate of the Reds, still I wasn't aware that they called any of their games, even in the Spring. Thanks for posting!
Sure Marty and Joe wanted to go check out MJ
He seems pretty athletic he should try out for the nba
MJ Fantasy baseball.
He was a lot better than people give him credit for.
i thought the bat boy at :32 was a regular sized baseball player and Jordan was just so huge he looked small HAHAHA
He ignored the little kid at home plate wanting a high five lol.
He shoulda picked that kid up and carried him in the dugout. Too self absorbed though.
Dang it you made me rewatch it for nothin! (he does give the kid a high-five)
Warffles you're right. But he's still self absorbed in my book.
