Kenneth Wolstenholme was simply the best ever as a match commentator, fitting that he interviewed the scoring genius, Jimmy Greaves, also a master of his craft.

I really enjoyed watching this as it was about the time that I started to be aware of football and was also around the time that I decided that Spurs would be my team - my favourite player back then was Pat Jennings.
I am 60 years old now - and still following the Spurs, all be it from the other side of the world as I live in Australia now.

By 1966, Spurs pitches in the winter season were still very poor. As a supporter, the terrible state of the pitches at White Hart Lane were a real cause for concern, as it made playing skilful football exceptionally difficult.

Odd to see Mike England playing against the Spurs. He must have transferred very soon after this.

Mike England came to Spurs around 1965. He was a superb centre half for Spurs and Wales.

6 months later, in July 1966.

Wow, it was a very different game back then wasn't it. None of this possession football like we get today, a dozen passes and you are still in your own half!! When the team got the ball they moved it forward, not side to side then backwards. Possession wasn't so important back then, it was all about wanting to attack and score goals. The BBC really knew how to edit the footage too. All the edits were seamless and practically impossible to see how they managed to edit 90 minutes of football down to less than 45 minutes.

Better game then. More flowing, natural.and the players were a little different than the supporters who came to see them
Now it's just a plaything of billionaires and corporate types. None of it has much connection with the working class.
At best they are just scenery and the crowds are probably middle class waiting some sanitised sporting entertainment.

Hard to believe Kieth Newton and Mike England played in such a weak defence

    It was hepatitis, not meningitis.

Sixties football would have been great in colour!
