Im so glad you popped up on my feed. Ive missed watching you. Love the dog hair idea as I have a big, goofy great pyrennes that supplies my rugs with tons of fiber. Your crochet hook trip was fun too. Its very relaxing listening to you share your tips and tricks. Lastly, i love the fact that you are spending time with your mom's things. Beautiful memories, Im sure. If you havent seen Aka nora knits in your podcast travels, check her out. Shes an amazing young woman who has only been knitting for a little over a year. Like you shes a terrific storyteller and so fun to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for demonstrating the difference in how people hold their crochet hooks. It makes so much more sense now. I am a new crocheter. I have been knitting for almost 20 years though. I use Lush shampoo bars. I have been using them for almost 2 years now and really like them. I tried the shampoo bar from Trader Joe's and it dried my hair out. It was so good seeing what you have been up to. Safe travels if we don't see you before you leave.
When traveling, I use the metal tin I got from Lush for the shampoo bar. It is round. It dries out pretty good but I leave the tin open during the day, so I am not sure how it would do if it was closed throughout the day. Maybe a paper towel placed on top to catch any drops of leftover water?
Fun podcast this morning. I had a friend and she would comb her dog every day and save the fur and every year save it from her trims. Well she finally had enough fur. She had a lady knit her a sweater. She came to me at work and so happy that she was picking up the sweater. So the next morning I was probably the first to see her sweater. Fit her to a tee and it really was beautiful. Later on that morning I stopped by her cubical to see her sweater again. She had to take it off because she was so hot. It was cute tho. Have a great trip!
Oh my gosh... thank you very much. I feel like I am finally resting a bit. It has been a long 4 years taking care of my sick parents. I would do it all over again, but it took a toll. You are so nice. ♥
I’m surprised you had a problem with your needles and flying. I just flew to Europe from US. I had my knitting needles with ( bamboo and my ChiaoGoo metal) me and had no problem bringing them on the plane. I did put my projects on barber cords just in case! Yes! We need to knit on the flights! Enjoy your trip!
Wow, where was that amazing boat scene right at the end? Beautiful. Thank you for your thoughts on crochet hooks and blankets. I hope that your Norway trip goes really well. You mentioned in passing a surgery that you had: very much hope all went well x
Thank you. That Boat is my saving grace some days. I miss doing it on a regular basis. Spring is fun b/c there is a fish spawining area of the lake and they litterally are jumping and hitting the boat. lol One day again!. The surgery was somewhat successful. I am not giving up hope that everything was fixed.
Lucky you, visiting Norway! I just got back from Scandinavia ending with a few more days in Oslo. Arne and Carlos also have a podcast on You Tube showcasing their favorite places in Oslo including yarn shopping. I would recommend visiting the Library near the opera house which has is very modern and unique. The library even has Bernina sewing machines for the public to use along with 3D printers, a cafe, a cocktail bar and more. Also our favorite bakery which you will find several, called Godt Brod. Yummy! The Sculpture Park is another “must see”. What a wonderful trip. I visited Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. If I had to choose which country I loved the best, hard choice, but I would choose Norway! Be sure to taste the brown cheese and the pickled herring!
So excited to see a podcast from you!! Was wonderful, as always. Your photo of friends, what a treasure. You all have such beautiful teeth and smile! I, also, am concerned about all the plastic containers and landfills. I have gone to 'Blueland' products. I do all my laundry with their tablets. come out CLEAN and smelling lovely. No more plastic containers for me!!!! And, I'm the same... Devon's hand balms. love them and can't resist buying the new scents. Love the trick with your feet. Thank you!!!
Have a great time in Norway! You have some amazing projects to work on. I enjoy your podcast. I love yarn shopping in a different country. It’s cool to see what they offer .
You are truly delightful! I love your podcast, and hearing what you have been up to, I always learn something new. Have a great time on your trip. I admire your sense of adventure and look forward to hearing all about it.
If we don’t see you before your trip, have a safe and wonderful time. I can’t even imagine being able to go on a trip like that. What an amazing adventure you will have. 😊
I was with my sister all weekend and I was watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, you've been on my mind ever since... thinking about you and your daughter... I hope all is progressing with that. I love seeing the items you are working on... I have definitely noticed a lot more crocheted items on TV and when I'm out and about! The 1 bag you showed with the tiny squares is one that I would love to attempt! Your mom's 'tapestry bag', not sure how you would describe it, is beautiful!!!
Yes. Day by day with my sweet Belle. I just have to keep loving her. She has had a few stressful moments lately and has reached out for advice and support. As long as I am still a rock for her - it is okay. I just miss our daily talks. Thank you for thinking of us. We will get there. ❤️
Great tips & tricks 🙏🏻. Have a great hike. We have just adopted 2 rescue cats who have been in the cattery since birth. They are 22 months now. Very shy skittish bubbas but they will be loved & cared for 🐱🐱
I have a complete bin of the down dog hair from my English springer spaniel who is now passed. Been meaning to spin it. Motivating. Also you might message Inga of Knitting Traditions. She lives in Norway and seems like the kind of person to respond and be helpful for Oslo yarn shop inquiries.
Once again, a very enjoyable podcast! Love hearing all the stuff... knitting, tips, life. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who uses a fan outside😁 It was only one time last week when it was extremely hot and I really wanted to knit on my deck. But it worked great. Have a fantastic trip to Norway!
My daughter wants me to knit her a cardigan and I'm like you, I know she will wash it so I need to find the right yarn. Then there's the fact that she is so picky with what color she wants and it needs to be lightweight. My options are very limited. We finally decided on the pattern yesterday, and I did find colors she liked but now to find gold/brown/mustard yellow in washable that she will approve of lol good thing she's not in a hurry. It's 3rd on my list so I have 2 to finish before I get started. I am hopeful that I will find what I want.
I’m using this yarn a lot also this summer and I love and I think we are on the same waves because I also bought the Pothos pattern and I can’t wait to make that one also.. so great to see you again my friend 💗💕
Wonderful! I just watched you latest podcast and think I need a ranunculus in white!! My pathos is coming along. I just finished the lace section. The leaves are cool. Yes that Eddie Bauer yarn is awesome. 😎
I just use the cheap metal crochet hooks but i crochet with then exactly like you do with the pretty ones, twisting the hook in my hand like you showed. My wrist stays straight too.
If you don't get another Podcast, wishing you a safe and wonderful experience. Limited packing space may actually make packing easier, less choice 🙂 I often wear the same clothes everyday, just change under garments. Very much enjoy your podcast, enjoy you and everything you shared. Thank you
Another very enjoyable podcast thank you. I love all the content - knitting, crochet, travel, house, tips, personal, just a perfect mix, like sitting in the kitchen with a cup of tea, chatting. 😊I am always delighted when your podcast pops up. Your makes are always perfect and lovely colour choices and your tips are always great. I am in awe of your packing. I am visiting relatives soon for 6 days and I am bringing a suitcase! On another note, I agree with changing to laundry sheets where possible. I changed a few years ago and am delighted with them. Enjoy your trip. I look forward to hearing about it and seeing the yarn you choose☺️ Take care
I love my kitsch shampoo bars .. I use the rice ones and several of my friends have tried them since I did and they do too…. And yes they travel great too! Also use the laundry sheets but a different brand… have a great trip
I so enjoy your podcasts! I especially liked your section on crochet hooks. My favorite hooks are by Tulip. Similar to Clovers. I have a really nice set of Tulip hooks. I've been working on the Jethro Cardigan by Tanis Fiber Arts. It's made using granny squares then has knitted ribbing and sleeves. Just the sleeves to go. Thanks for the travel tips (shampoo bar and laundry sheets). Will put them to use soon (we go camping too). Thanks for sharing. Safe travels to Norway.
Great to see you again. Great podcast. Loved hearing about your friends and the great memories. Just a thought about your crochet sweater that is coming out too big…is it a British pattern? Have a wonderful trip, can’t wait to hear all about it. I am going to the Quilt Festival in Birmingham, U.K. have you ever been? I know you like all things British.
Oh I love all things British! One day I will come and go on a month long tour of all the festivals. It is a British pattern but I did make the stitch adjustments. I just got caught up and was granny stitching along… I don’t like to stop and count!
I just saved a short on instagram that showed how to invisibly repair a hole just like that one in your husband's hat, using yarn (ofcourse) and thread, which gets removed after you use the yarn. It really worked slick. You can't tell that there was ever a hole there. I'll send it to you on instagram if I can figure out how to do it.
Thank you. I need to try. But there are huge pieces missing so I may need a little patch. It would be cute to crochet a little mouse 🐭 peaking out from behind the patch… doubt my husband would wear it then. 😂😂😂
LisaR: 😊That hats adventure could make a cozy children's book ! There's a way to fix large holes without patching . Lucy Neatby has several techniques that are virtually undetectable . She began an in person class by cutting a big hole into middle of her knitting 😅. A jagged hole , with dress making shears ... She currently has a channel here . There's a large collection of videos for purchase - They were DVD , hopefully digital now ;) The technique used is part of one of them. Her book "Cool knitters finish in Style" is knitting gold ❤
great podcast, again! about dog yarn: my cousin spun and knitted the yarn of her Bernese dog (so much work!) it looked nice and quite rough and was very very warm, BUT every time it got damp, it smelled like a wet dog. she washed it with different detergents, but it did not get away. finally she hung it on the wall (like a rug) - nice decoration, if this is your style. about oslo: watch the youtubers „arne and carlos“, they just posted a few videos about oslo… I am following them since a few years… greetings from 🇨🇭
Tell her to soak it in white vinegar and give a good long sunbath. I mean weeks in hot sun. That may help, or not. Usually the dog smell doesn't come back when the yarn gets wet, but there are exceptions to this, too.
Just now had time to watch your episode. So weird seeing all that stuff in there 😂 Walking poles - Finland used to be a promised land for those. We call that "dementia skiing" because of the missing skis 🤪 but yeah, even the studies say it's way more efficient than plain walking. About the mountains of plastic etc. Did you know that also perfumes from perfumed products accumulate in waterways? Not even waste water facilities can really remove those. And they are usually made from crude oil, so the base is the same as for plastic. Also, they are hormonally disruptive and even carcinogenic and affect even unborn babies 😟 So all nature lovers should choose uncented products. That would also help lots of people like me; mcs is a thing and because other people use so much scents, we have trouble living a normal life. Sorry for❤ the rant, but I think people should be more aware about this. Norway is beautiful, especially in the north. Enjoy your trip!
Thank you for the content. I am so sad I messed up the audio music on the second half... So sad. But it was so nice to use your amazing images. Thank you.. One day I will make it to Porvoo!
@@TheKnittyKats yes! My husband was skiing about 45 minutes away and I drove over there. What lovely yarn 💕 I am from Illinois and it was such a treat for me. I bought some beautiful part cashmere yarn from her that I am saving for a special project. I hope to get back there some time.
Love your podcasts for many reasons! It’s a beautiful one, for starters. I like the stories, the journey. By the way, what sandals are you wearing? I like them, too! Thanks much.
Thank you. The sandals I had on in the lake scene were Keen. They are nice b/c if you are walking in a lake or river, you cannot stub you toe. Also Great Arch support.
@@TheKnittyKats I thought they were Keen, which I wear. But I haven’t seen that Mary Jane style. By the way, I also love your tips, as another viewer commented. I’ve never heard of laundry sheets-as detergent! I have heard of minimal packing, though. It’s OK. No one knows when we wear the same things on trips! Have fun and be safe.
Hi, what dates will you be in Oslo? I'd love to meet you and take you around a few yarn shops. I will make you a list of shops and addresses and mail it to you. That way you can look them up online and plan which ones are the most interesting for you. I so love your podcasts🥰I wish you a wonderful 18 days in Norway. Don't be surprised if it turns out that it's warm in the north and chilly in the south. The weather is really unpredictable these days.
I enjoyed watching today. I also crochet and loved seeing your hooks. I recently purged mine also. Have you ever tried Tunisian crochet? I just learned and am hooked. 😅 Toni from TL Yarns taught me and it’s so fun. Do you have a pattern yet for your daughter’s sweater? I would love to make a couple. I love the Big Twist also ~
Yes I have. I was too embarracssed about my 56 crochet hooks so I didn't mention them. lol. I love it. I have never made anythng big. What have you made? Daughters Sweater... I think I will use the No Frills sweater from petite knits. Pretty sure it is the right yarn weight. It is a little sloppy, but I think she would like that.
Hi Julie. Do you use stitch markers for your crochet? They are really helpful IMO 😊. Love the colours in your crochet top. I made a hat from my border collie’s undercoat. I spun a little alpaca with it and I love it … super warm and fluffy. I really want to do one of your fab ponchos but I am not sure what yardage, as I have 80g (2.8 oz) of mohair I would like to use up. Would it be enough? Held with another yarn ? Thanks for the great podcasts.
Oh I use stitch markers- I just don’t count😂😂😂😂 As you know crochet uses so much yarn. But if you use an open stitch pattern it just might make a small one. I think 600 yds would be the minimum
Interesting to learn about the dog hair and spinning but it was very hard to hear you speak with the music playing at the same time. I wonder if there are allergies to the dog hair ?
Some people tolerate dog hair products even though they are allergic to dogs, some do not. Usually the allergy is towards the scurf (skin flakes) that comes off the dogs, not the hair. So maybe it also depends on how well the hair has ben washed - but that's my own reasoning only.
I am so sorry about the music. I didn't do a sound check on the second part of that section. ARGH. I just need to leave the music off completely. I am sure if you are allergic - it would bother you until it was washed. I don't know for sure though.
Yes.. It is just schematic. You can knit or Crochet. I talked about it more in Episode 11 Free Pattern here :) www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-poncho-2
@@TheKnittyKats I have a special skein that I think will make a perfect poncho. It’s been a while since I’ve crocheted, but I want to find the exact stitch pattern you used on the green one. Can you point me in the right direction? I know you’re a busy person, so I don’t suppose you could film a quick tutorial…😊
I am only half way through, but I am enjoying your podcast, as always! I was wondering what the little ribbon shawl is called. I rewound but may have missed the name. I am hoping it is available somewhere other than Ravelry! 🙂
Very interesting about the dog fur begin used to spin yarn. Just a suggestion: it would be better to not have music playing when you are talking. It was very hard to hear what you were saying. Have a good Independence Day. My animals hate all of the noise from the fireworks.
I don't like w &t because mine always show. I substitute GSR for the w & t. But need to move the wrap by one stitch so it is in the correct place.
Thank you. I had read that but was nervous it was part of the leaf pattern. It wasn’t 😣
Always enjoy your podcasts and come away with some maker knowledge. Loved the travel tips,, safe travels and have a great time!

My goodness. I need to check into that!
We used bar shampoo and conditioner and took sheets of laundry soap on our trip to Europe in May. No regrets.
AWEsome. Which brand of bar soap and conditioner did you use?
Another lovely episode ❤ I enjoy every part of your podcast ❤ looking 👀 forward to many more 🤗🤗❤️❤️
Thank you so much 😊 I appreciate you watching.. :)
@@TheKnittyKats 🤗❤️
great podcast, again!
about dog yarn: my cousin spun and knitted the yarn of her Bernese dog (so much work!) it looked nice and quite rough and was very very warm, BUT every time it got damp, it smelled like a wet dog. she washed it with different detergents, but it did not get away. finally she hung it on the wall (like a rug) - nice decoration, if this is your style.
about oslo: watch the youtubers „arne and carlos“, they just posted a few videos about oslo… I am following them since a few years…
greetings from 🇨🇭
Oh my. Yes... A dog smell may not be great.
Tell her to soak it in white vinegar and give a good long sunbath. I mean weeks in hot sun. That may help, or not. Usually the dog smell doesn't come back when the yarn gets wet, but there are exceptions to this, too.
Just now had time to watch your episode. So weird seeing all that stuff in there 😂
Walking poles - Finland used to be a promised land for those.
I just heard you mention Craig. Have you ever been to Yampa Valley Fiber outside of Craig? It is fabulous!
Lisa Lisa Lisa. Yes. I love those people. It is the nicest wool I have ever purchased. I hope to go back and film a video. Have you been?
@@TheKnittyKats yes! My husband was skiing about 45 minutes away and I drove over there. What lovely yarn 💕 I am from Illinois and it was such a treat for me. I bought some beautiful part cashmere yarn from her that I am saving for a special project. I hope to get back there some time.
I did not know she had cashmere!!! time for a trip.
Full disclosure... the Keen's were my daughter's when she was a little girl!!! lol
Sounds great! Yes. Yes. I would love to meet up. Will you message me on Instagram so we can connect ?
Are the walking poles good support for arthritis in the hips & knees?
I am sure. It keeps you steady. You can go as fast or slow as you would like.
Oh I use stitch markers- I just don’t count😂😂😂😂
As you know crochet uses so much yarn. But if you use an open stitch pattern it just might make a small one. I think 600 yds would be the minimum
@@TheKnittyKats 😆 Thankyou x
Do you have a pattern name for the little summer poncho? At 71 a covering for the arms is quite appealing! 😊
Let me look in my book. I will see if I can find it. I am away on a business trip now, but will look.
I am only half way through, but I am enjoying your podcast, as always! I was wondering what the little ribbon shawl is called. I rewound but may have missed the name. I am hoping it is available somewhere other than Ravelry! 🙂
Yes, it is! Free on ravelry www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-poncho-2
It is a schematic
Thank you so much!!!
Did I just spy you in a KYD video?
❤❤❤
Oh my. What is KYD?
@@TheKnittyKats oh dear. “Keep Your Daydream” … an awesome RV channel. I guess it was someone else in CO who looks like you :-).
That is funny. Camping is my Day Dream. lol
@@TheKnittyKats me too (especially long road trips in my sprinter van -- with my knitting and audio books) 🙂
I'm saving cat fur and I buy cashmere sweaters from Salvation Army for under 15.00
You are so lucky. My thrift shops have no great sweaters. I am always disappointed.
Very interesting about the dog fur begin used to spin yarn. Just a suggestion: it would be better to not have music playing when you are talking. It was very hard to hear what you were saying. Have a good Independence Day. My animals hate all of the noise from the fireworks.
Thank you so much for the feed back. I really debated. I appreciate the honesty! You enjoy the 4th too.
Great video. It was difficult to hear what you were saying over the music, but otherwise really nice.
Oh gosh I know. I messed that up!!!!! So sorry. 😞
@@TheKnittyKats It's okay. Editing can be so complicated. Loved seeing all your projects.
