- Braille make their First try skate shoe a few months ago. after skateboarding in them all day I have a few thing that were good about them as well as a few thing I think needs work. for beginners, this shoe is good but if you are skating a littl harder then just learning. . . theres some things you need to know about these shoe.

Look like a $20 shoe. People will just buy because it's braille. I can't see manufacturing shoes on such a small scale being anywhere near cost effective for you to get value for your money. Probably the reason the vast majority of merch or small clothing brands don't make shoes and stick to tees and hoodies etc.
i enjoy some of the riders in braille, but personally. the company is trash and its sad to see some of these good skaters being in this company thinking that this is all they can do. = \
Agreed, they are way to over priced. Seen these at the park a few times, most the buyers are small kids
Shoe sole mold alone is like $25k. That's like a half years worth of soft goods to most brands having somthing new come out spring/summer or fall/winter

@@magnussigurdsson9548 The thick rubber would make doing tricks very difficult because you would have basically no feel comapred to a regular skate shoe. Rubber boots are also heavy and usually arent a super tight fit, so they will be moving around your foot like crazy. I'm sorry bro but this is a horrible idea, that is if your comment wasn't as joke lol

Yeah but somehow I don't think that's the worst part about these shoes. Even when it's not a terrible first attempt. I do wish they will make more and better shoes. In my opinion, the high cost is the biggest mistake here.

Braille out here finessin kids like an e-commerce guru, with an 11 dollar dhgate shoe with their logo on it 😂. Call it limited and let the kids buy em, good business move in keeping costs low, but bad p.r. for em

Oh man I can give you my review on them, if you like the OG Joslin you won't like the vulcs. Strangely bottom heavy and stiff. Too much outsole and they need inserts so you can skate bigger obstacles. Soles and outers tear through pretty quick. But damn do they look good, I got them in navy and gum and now just rock them casually. Hope that helps a bit!

@@cavf88 Happy to help! And just to add a little more, if you like the Joslin 1, but was looking for something a little less bulky but with the same resilience, the Joslin 2 ain't it unfortunately. BUT, if that is what you were looking for, give the Spanky G6 a try. They need an insert, but after that they skate like a dream and hold up really well too.

If they were like 65 I could see them being a pretty good alternative to some mid tier Van's or DCs, but they don't look like $100 shoes.
These shoes tend to be a lot cheaper now, and are no longer the first numbered edition. A limited run of 650 is never gonna be as cheap as something mass-produced, c'mon y'all, that doesn't even make sense. Also, to the folks expecting suede, cupsole, cushioning, longevity, etc. for $11 that raises some serious ethical concerns at every step of the way.
Please, let's not pressure skate companies to go that route. As pretty much everybody else here has stated, there are loads of dirt cheap options already out there for those who can't afford to pay what it will actually cost for a small company to make a quality shoe (try also looking for sales on old inventory, thrift stores, free piles, etc.) I agree that $100 is too much for me to spend on shoes, unless they'll last several years, and even then only when I have the money to spare. But reality is reality, and cheap labor won't solve poverty or class divisions either. I would love to get a diamond ring and some gold chains for free, but that won't happen...unless I steal them or somebody is feeling really generous...you know?

Braille, if you give a fuck it need's:
triple stitching in spots, for more reinforcement
Maybe a 2nd layer of swede in the ollie and flip spots,
deeper grooves on the bottom, so they don't wear out as fast,
make them look less Wallmarty, (They look like they are off Aliexpress or something...)
Better insole...
And then you can charge $100 (In my opinion)

Yeah, I think I’ll stick with another pair of my Tyshawn mids. Can’t see paying more then I pay for the tyshawns to have a shoe from Braille. There’s a clear difference in quality and design.

The whole pinky toe thing makes sense. There are some shoes that are loose but have something thats over lapped in the shoe. And will rub on the pinky toe. I’ve personally only had it with a couple of shoes. But it goes aways after awhile

I got the marshmallow. Worked great. The outsole was the only part that wore out on me after a few months. I'd buy again especially since they're usually marked down to $50

Vans Crockett would be a good one to review
I skated like the Crockett 2’s for a while. They’re pretty nice but my only problem when them is that they didn’t rlly feel compact. Kinda flimsy ig but not overly flimsy. If you skate hard every day they’ll wear down fast tho. I think the Kyle Walker pros are a way better option if you’re looking to buy from van’s pro selection.
I haven’t tried the Crockett 2’s but I have the Crockett pro hi’s and mostly use them for bmx and I can see how the low top ones might get flimsy after a while. The hi tops actually benefit from that though because I’m my experience the uppers are almost painfully stiff the first time you wear them but once they break in they’re really comfortable and still supportive in the ankle. I just got the Kyle walkers and they seem to be really good but I still haven’t gotten through the break-in period. My favorite so far are the Rowan’s but I’m always trying new shoes.

Also, not just 3rd party manufacturing practices to consider, but Braille has many of their own employees to pay (who are responsible for packing, shipping, advertising, quality control, customer service, content, etc). If we send the message that there's no market for quality, companies will increasingly go for cheaper, more disposable, less sustainable alternatives like their corporate counterparts have done. I'm not saying Braille is perfect, but they do seem to care a lot about skaters and listen to our feedback, so be careful what you wish for &/or how we communicate our needs.
Another thing... Most high quality shoes have a break-in period of a week or longer, due to the nature of materials like leather and high-density rubber. I get that a lot of serious skaters rip through shoes weekly or monthly, and out-of-the-box comfort is a big deal, but it's not the whole story. Some designs may cater to this, but it's not a universal thing. I would also recommend wearing shoes around for a day or two before skating them, because we all know that high-impact tricks are extremely hard on shoes. These aren't designed like classic Muska/Osiris couch-on-your-feet shoes.
I haven't been able to test the Braille shoes out yet, so I may change my opinions later, but neither have a lot of the commenters calling them a scam. The only pair I've seen in person did not look like $20 fake skate shoes at all. It's a nice low profile design that appeared to be well-made.
