Rising Heaven and hell Holy Diver Contrarian as ever though I’d have Long Live Rock n Roll Mob Rules Dream Evil /Last in line But I’ve always been an odd ball .
He actually has possibly the best 6 straight lp run of all time. Rising, long live r&r, h&h, mob rules, holy diver and last in line. Two really good live albums in the mix as well.
I don't think this holy trinity will ever be bettered. Everything just came together perfectly to make these Classic albums. Great idea for a video James.🤘
Hi James!!! cool idea for a ranking of three of Ronnie's best recordings..... this is a tough one but i think mine would be Heaven and Hell, Rising and Holy Diver. cheers and be well
I agree that these three albums are outstanding. I'd personally add Mob Rules and to the mix. It would rank at number two (one on a good day) if I counted it. 1. Heaven and Hell- I love every track. It was great to hear you speak highly of Lady Evil because some people don't care for it. I view both Die Young and Lonely is the Word as outstanding, with the latter featuring one of my favorite Iommi solos at the end. Neon Knights, Children of the Sea, and Heaven and Hell never get old even though I've heard them so many times over the years. 2. Holy Diver- My favorite track is Don't Talk to Strangers, which I view as Dio's best solo song. The title track is a close second. There really is no weak song on this album to me. 3. Rising- My three favorites on this album are Stargazer, A Light in the Black, and Tarot Women. I don't care for Do You Close Your Eyes. It's the only song I skip on these three albums.
Agreed on all points. 'Do you close your eyes?' is also my least fave on Rising cos it's more commercial sounding... but man that riff has serious crunch to it... soo good \m/
Thank you for doing this video to Ronnie. I remember if it wasn't for holy driver, then I never would of liked heaven and hell album. When I first heard heaven and hell I really didn't like it straight away, but when I heard holy driver. The album grew on me. I do have heaven and hell on CD and I have the first five Dio albums. Even thought I do have Dio Diamonds on CD. Which is the best of Dio. As for Rainbow. I have the since you been gone 3 CD set with 45 songs and also I have Long live rock and roll.
Awesome Ronnie James Dio ranking video Rainbow rising is a banger of a cd saw Malevolence and Kerry King and Mastodon and Lamb of god last night that was a banging show
Really good video. I wouldn't be able to rank them myself, so it's good to hear your thought on them. What would RJD's "unholy" trinity be? 'Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow', 'Dehumanizer', and 'Magica'?
Heaven And Hell and Rising is almost a draw for me, both in my top 50 albums of all tme for sure. i gve it to Heaven and hell on goal difference, though I think Rising is Dio's greatest vocal performance on record. 1. Heaven And Hell 2. Rising 3. Holy Diver
Many thanks! Cool to hear your thoughts on each track. Would you believe I don't have a copy of Rising. Hasnt always been that way. With the 2 that i own of this bunch its too close to call for me.ah hell, ill go with Heaven and Hell 🤘 Lady Evil certainly is a standout
Not and easy one to do James. I'd imagine you'd get a fair share of every possible order with this one. I think I'd have to go with the same as you. But like you said all fantastic album and essential for any collection.
There's a reaction channel sad one, who talks about Rainbow Rising wittering on a about Dio never mentions Blackmore Carey and Powell. Light In The Black is one of the most amazing neo classical guitar solo(s) ever . No Blackmore no Rainbow. He even had a discussion with his patreons and they never mentioned Blackmore wtf and why ? Sad a*se holes on YT
Blackmore’s playing across the first three rainbow albums is truly inspiring . The Rising/ LLRnR line was truly phenomenal. The Elf/ Blackmore line up while excellent have a different feel.
I would have to go in this order
1. Heaven & Hell
2. Holy Diver
3. Rising
But all are so close!!

Prefer mob rules to heaven and hell..better produced no filler
For me it's
1. Rising
2. Heaven and Hell
3. Holy diver.
Exactly the same as mine. Cheers for watching fella 👍
My ranking would be the exact same as yours mate - however Die Young is one my favourites off Heaven and Hell 😂
Haha. Cheers for watching Rusty

@This-Is-Music Cheers Kim. Yeah I'd definitely go with those choices for the Unholy Trinity mate
Haven't actually got/heard the Rainbow album. I'd rate Heaven and Hell over Holy Diver though. Still good albums as you said.
Rising is definitely worth checking out. Agreed on Heaven and Hell being better than Holy Diver. Cheers
For me very close heaven and hell 1, rainbow rising 2, holly diver 3
Yeah, there's not much between them at all. 3 classics, no doubt about it. Cheers
id have to go
1 Heaven & Hell
2 Rising
3 Holy Diver
All are classics.
All 3 are definitely classics. Thanks for watching

Yeah, there's not much difference between Heaven and Hell and Rising. Rising is just a little bit better for me. 2 classic albums definitely. Cheers
Rainbow is one of my favorite bands and Rising is an underrated masterpiece.
@fjuczer730 Agreed. Rising and Long Live Rock and Roll are absolute classics in my opinion. Cheers fella 👍
Imo, the first Rainbow album is underrated
@@muratomar6502 Yeah, without a doubt. Stranger in Us All too I think.

3 bangers mate. RJD was involved with so many essential albums
I have Holy Diver on cd , what happened to Last in line that's a great album?
1980 is a classic year?
@@marksantucci4230 You can only have 3 albums in a Holy Trinity. 1980 was a fantastic year
