Quelle voix ! Mais aussi, quelle musicienne extraordinaire... talentueuse et modeste, toujours au service de la musique et respectueuse de ses partenaires.
You can tell when it's right, they look at each other & smile, I'm sure like me they are amazed when this incredible sound hits crescendo, there have been times when you are at that one place at the right time and at the right moment, World's collide and you know that what ever else is happening in the universe, this is THE PLACE!
I bought the dvds at the time, and still pop them in from time to time, but it is quite more convenient on youtube when I feel like a little ecstatic musical moment.
Fantastic! Thank you kindly for sharing with us this Blessing, Beautiful Melodies, Well done! Ladies and Gentlemen, may The Good LORD Bless you and yours as well. 👍😎💜🙏💞
This music makes me think of my dear friend Bill Spence, who sadly left us two years ago now. Bill was a wonderful multi-instrumentalist, master on the hammered dulcimer, good friend of Aly Bain, and co-founder of the Old Songs, Inc. and Old Songs Festival here. He would have been an amazing addition to these Transatlantic Sessions. Thinking of you, Bill!
Thanks for providing this new (for me) opportunity to experience another Iris D performance. I've been a groupie of hers for years...from "The Cedar" in Minneapolis to "Big Top Chautauqua" (a tent in Bayfield, WI on the shores of Lake Superior)...tears as she sang "When My Morning Comes Around"...sigh...
Some of the best music ever. I love it but sad that I have no musical talent whatsoever. My love of good music knows no bounds. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
"without music - all would be nothing" (said Mozart) and you can hear and feel the happiness in the scottish mansion house, where the musicians enjoy playing ....
Made for Scotland & the Isles in particular, It doesn't sound the same without the setting, to have the World's best in one room in such a place is a thing of amazement.
Ive been playing this music now for 20+ years...I play 9 instruments, including: fiddle, guitar, pennywhistle, fllute, bodhran, vocals etc.. I'll be there...in another 20 years... 🤣🤣🤣 !!!
Well you got me on the first instrumental together with the producers of the video sparkling their way up to the mansion in the hills-happy I grew up in This whole series is mesmerizing !!!!!!!!!!!!!Debra
Jerry Douglas playing Sir Ali B with snow outside and the "cosiest" composition ever. Whilst I sip on a lagavulin 16... does anyone need more in life? I am content! This in my opinion is yet to be topped.
That is an ongoing TV production called "The Transatlantic Sessions" produced by Jerry Douglas the dobro player and Aly Bain the fiddler. I think it ran 7 years until about 2015.
I think the third series is the best. All of them are wonderful, but the third touched a nerve with me. Joan Osbourne and Julie Fowlis are mesmerizing. And Sharon Shannon never stops smiling. Please Don't Tell me how the Story Ends and Brother Wind are masterpieces.

There's always something to discover in these wonderful recordings - Fred Morrison's beautiful piping was a revelation for me, e.g. 01:35:48, The Kansas City Hornpipe/Jarlath's Tune.
Allison Krause once said , Jerry Douglas is the best Dobro player ever. Or something like that. Records are broken every day, but for today , I agree with that.
Interesting I have the 2 disc DVD of this however there is bits of footage on here that has been edited from the DVD set. Its all world class fantastic stuff.
Programme Five: 30:10 St. Anne's Reel (Aly Bain, Jerry Douglas, Russ Barenberg, Todd Parks) 33:50 One More Chance (Karen Matheson, Darrell Scott, Tim O'Brien, Donald Shaw) 38:20 Swan LK 243 (Catriona MacKay) 42:15 Don't Try to Please Me (Paul Brady, Cara Dillon, Tim O'Brien, Darrell Scott) 45:50 Bothan Airigh Am Braigh Raithneach (Julie Fowlis, Bruce Molsky) 50:45 Please Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends (Joan Osborne, Bruce Molsky) 54:58 Shove the Pig's Foot a Little Bit Further Into the Fire (Bruce Molsky, Sharon Shannon, Jim Murray)
Did I spy a clip of the Old Bridge of Tilt near Blair Atholl at 0:13? When we are in BA we always go to the sessions in the Birks Cinema Aberfeldy down the road when we're not in lockdown.
Well spotted. The river bridge at the beginning crosses the River Garry in Killikrankie. When this was first shown on TV in 2007 I had been stood on the same bridge only a few weeks earlier. We go to Blair every year in August.
@@spyderdryverlee4581 My daughter Sally and her partner Dave hope to have Food in the Park Live reopened this summer at the back of the chippy in Blair Atholl. Hopefully some of the sessions around Aberfeldy will be open as well.
@@xyzzy450 I know the chippy well. We stay on the castle caravan park. We've been going every year for the last 30 years or so, only missing a handful, usually coinciding with the Horse Trials. I'll be there for a fish supper in August if conditions permit.
Snow on the ground outside, and the warmth in that room! And Julie Fowlis singing Gaelic! Heaven!
The BEST music series ever to be shown on TV. I wish they would bring it back.
Thanks to the BBC for supporting all this fabulous music and these wonderous artists we would never have been aware of. It's like heaven.
Well, some of us would.

Fred Morrison and Bruce Molsky!!!
I didn't see that coming.
Fantastic.
It was through these films I discovered the wonderful Julie Fowlis !!
I know I am late to this party...but seriously, thank you for sharing this. this is just amazing stuff.
If only the population of the planet were musicians, what a beautiful life this would be!
The mutual respect these musicians have for each other is evident.....beautiful....

I love all sessions. Warm, delicate and very beautiful. So precious

The dedication of these wonderful musicians is deeply inspiring. Thank you.
Love the smile on Ali’s face listening to Iris . She is unique 🏴🏴
I love j. D. And his play
I have always loved this series. Thanks.

I can only speculate what a joy it would have been to have had Doc Watson among the musicians!
I couldn't agree more Steve. He would have been superb with some of his slow numbers like "Ready For The Times To Get Better" and "Deep River Blues"
So much talent in one place at the same time. (Old) country soul.
Brilliant music played by brilliant people. Thank you.
Watch the look of admiration on all of them when Iris starts to sing at 8:20 She is really a unique talent..
And again at 1:31
Iris hits like sledge hammer. Wow i love her.💞
These sessions have changed my life.
Gotta love Jerry Douglas and all of them
Oh, my goodness. Is that Joan Osborne? One of my favorite singers of al time. Wow!

Ah that Julie Fowlis love song in Gaelic …
They are all,'The Best!'.
I LOVE TO HEAR CARA SING THIS SONG AND FARAWATA ( THE BOATMAN) . I LOVE THESE SESSIONS AND THE BLUEGRASS ONES WITH SAM BUSH ALSO.
I think it would be a huge task to try get that much musical talent into a room these days . Each one of them a master of the craft .
That is an ongoing TV production called "The Transatlantic Sessions" produced by Jerry Douglas the dobro player and Aly Bain the fiddler. I think it ran 7 years until about 2015.

The Transatlantic Sessions were like Woodstock, but without the crowds.

It sounds like a flute and has a bellow
@Jeff Maness. Uileann pipes ?
Scottish war pipes are a musical military weapon. Uileann pipes are for expressing your soul.
What’s the title of the tune that closes out the 3/2 2007 session?
The last track in this video is “The Drummers of England.” It’s featured in the 3-1 2007 video, see the track list in the comments.
