I wish you guys were more critical, this event was very vague. As Elon has said, prototypes are easy. There was very little new specifics given. It was all hype. I'm a mega fan, this event was the most disappointing to watch in awhile. Looked fun in person, otherwise, lots of flaws in what I saw. It's not just Wall Street who has concerns. I'm using FSD on the regular in my new model 3 and love these products. The event itself was bad.

As an engineer I think the brilliancy of these products is unsurpassed in human history.
I realize a lot of people are not scientists and do not relate with technology well, however not understanding it does not make it wrong. Great shifts in tech have always been resisted by the status quo people for obvious reasons since they typically do poorly in the transition.

Anybody disappointed with the event really has to take a hard look at what the rest of the world's companies are doing: nothing. This was an amazing event, showing the near future is going to be led by Tesla, and the progress they are making is astounding. People act like Tesla could just go have a meeting and then go into the factory and make the final product. They aren't copying, they are creating. It's a process, and they have to find the challenges before they can meet and then overtake them. Like their namesake, Tesla remains misunderstood and criminally undervalued for their creations.

Wall Street counts cars. Usually month to month. The stock price will likely hang around 200 for two more years or until cybercabs appear on public roads in significant numbers. I will quietly continue to accumulate shares and not expect any great jumps in share price before 2030.

@@karlmaerz5661 I disagree. G3 Optimus is coming up for sale and the model two will be coming up for sale. I think it will jump when WS understands the significance of autonomy. There will be an initial, and significant, bump in price when we hit a critical mass of traders who understand the massive upshot, followed by another surge when the $$$ numbers start to roll in. It will dawn on traders when Tesla gets a few unsupervised areas, or it gets so good that the existing customer base increases adoption. We may even see the price of used Teslas spike, especially HW4 cars.

Idk what all these nay sayers were watching. I guess they don’t have much imagination or simply don’t think the company will deliver. Ok, then you should probably not own Tesla in that case? The struts the raised the doors looked the same as the struts that raise the back of a Model Y. I didn't get a ride, but the longer I looked at it.. I could see parts I thought came from a Model Y or 3. the surface was a brushed steel look but I think it was a hard thermoplastic, some said it was fiber composite.

FSD is much better than the current intervention rate suggests as they need to "collect interventions" for training data; interventions are the limiting factor, not compute or miles driven. As such, FSD runs in a shadow mode for statistical validation and makes deliberate mistakes to collect the type 2 error. It also keeps people from becoming too complacent. I do not agree that this would be the compact car! A two seater is a tiny market. Most people need to accommodate more than two people. The Smart Car hasn’t been a failure by any means, but it’s never been a massive success and they’ve launched 4 seaters because they needed more of a market.
They may sell this with controls at some point, but it’s not “the $25k model”.

There isn't a direct "agreement" between Stellantis executives and Elon Musk. However, Stellantis' CEO, Carlos Tavares, has commented extensively on Tesla and Elon Musk's strategies. Tavares warned about a potential "bloodbath" in the electric vehicle (EV) industry if other manufacturers follow Tesla's approach of aggressive price cuts. He referred to a "race to the bottom" where lowering prices could severely impact profitability for automakers, something Tesla has faced as its profit margins have diminished with these strategies(
    Teslarati
    )(
    Teslarati
    ).
This tension reflects broader differences in how companies like Stellantis and Tesla are approaching the EV market, with Stellantis aiming to maintain profitability without engaging in Tesla's aggressive price competition. Stellantis also stopped buying EV credits from Tesla after its merger with PSA, suggesting they no longer need Tesla’s help to meet emission targets(

    Tesla's Goal from them.
    A) Accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy?
    B) make stockholders money -- How did this event do anything to achieve this? This future look does not reduce the number of ICE cars on the road. In fact, every year they don't cover the models needed by people they delay the goal by 10 to 15 years. Some will buy another F150, Dodge Ram, Chevy Van, Honda Odyssey or Toyota Camry. Those cabs will reduce the number of cabs maybe, 5 years from now. $TSLA may NOT care about stockholders making money but they NEED money to pay for Robo dreams. So A and B are not mutually exclusive. As a growth stock Tesla is currently sucking. I see nothing but capEx expenses and nothing to add to the ACTUAL bottom line for years.

I understand your concern but you are still operating in the old paradigm. New models would definitely improve the business but the opportunities of autonomy are on a vastly bigger scale. This will eliminate approx. 70% of traffic congestion. It will lower the cost of travel 10x. Say good bye to the entire insurance industry as we know it. It will change real estate prices as people can live hours away. The cascade effects cannot be overstated.

Well said. Elon has obviously moved away from the original Tesla goal to accelerate trans to sustainable energy to autonomy. He is unnecessarily betting the future of the entire company into FSD, which mainly takes away low-class jobs even if successful. Elon needs to admit his underestimation in the difficulty in solving FSD, be patient, and work on other profitable things for Tesla, like Model 2, small pickup truck, family van, etc, with steering wheels for now.

    • @dhui777
      @dhui777 2 години тому

@@taylorc2542 you have overestimated the value of FSD way too much. FSD will NEVER be perfect. Insurance for robotic WILL still be needed or the owner of robotaxi can be sued to bankruptcy for an unexpected error. In fact, it will take many years for the insurance premium for robotaxi to come down for the owner to be profitable. Also, robotaxi won’t reduce your commute time but increase it instead because it drives slower than human. People are still underestimating the power of a human brain.

That ownership thing is built into America. Totally disagree, you will not have 100,000 robotaxis driving people to downtown Chicago from the north, south and west of the city from miles away. Should Tesla charge $30,000 per year for full self drive that only a few Rich people can afford? Or should it charge 5,000 that the vast majority of its customers would consider paying. Most people don't have a chauffeur, and never will. Let's get real.

You say it’s “suspensionless” - you know that how? You don’t.
Remote controlled - probably. So what? We know Tesla is capable of making FSD work in such a vehicle, so there’s no reason why it couldn’t be made do so.

I wished there would have been more detail. Basically no specs on the car or van, they didn't even show the interior. No ride hailing software shown. No word on grok integration for the robotaxi or Optimus. Just hardware prototypes and promises of what they'll potentially be able to do on some future date. What aspects of the Optimus demo was end to end? Because bar the dancing bots on a stage, it all looked teleoperated to me. If thats the case, then are they going to use teleoperation as a service like 1X are? We didn't learn much from this event. We got to see the cab which we knew was coming, to see the gen 3 hand which we knew was coming, the van is new but no details were given, and they're selling the cab to customers which doesn't even seem like a maximally profitable move.

With a steering wheel I'd jump at the chance to buy one. As a cab, yes most rides are 1 or 2 people but what about people with kids. The cyberbus? It doesn't make sense and is superfluous in the urban environments it is designed for. The robot? Solely for firing thousands of low income workers.
