Against all odds, I managed to climb out of bed this morning. It was graded 7am. Proper chuffed with myself.
Is that the weird British Trad system?
Underrated Comment
Todays goal is to climb up 7.20am
Tough projecting on a 5-day trip. Loved the glasses on that mantel. Good effort finishing it after all those tries.
Warning! Dave's comment is a spoiler: "Good effort finishing it after all those tries" :)
Thank you for this Andrew
It was awesome to see you on Never Ending Story as well- it's gonna go for sure. The part 2 campus was spectacular to watch!
@@AndrewMacFarlane haha thank you, thank you 😄 keep crushing it with the videos, love what you're doing!
Emil daddy
Yeah was gonna say this boulder looked familiar. Or rather, that crux into part 2 looked it.
As a wearer of glasses, I can relate to this except for the V13 part.
*does one move*
glasses : aight imma head out
my life has changed on the wall with a new pair of feather-light wireframes. gotta like the style but whew, no more 12-foot falls for my specs
Man that fall scared the hell outta me, amazing send
Intense!!
When he almost topped out and slipped, my heart hurt for him. I can only imagine that level of frustration.
I really appreciate when Louis talks about the process, losing confidence, working the problem, failing, and learning. He explains the process with a refreshing vulnerability that fosters a teaching moment for everyone watching. That's likely what makes him an amazing coach, because even though I can only climb about V5, I find him and his process relateable. There are a million youtube videos of Super Strong Dudes sending tough boulders with a lot of bravado, and you folks do a great job of being different in a way that makes watching more enjoyable. Thank you.
"Just squeeze the holds harder mate"
Absolutely correct! Why i love Andrew Mcfarlane's channel
Amazing video Andrew! and an awesome effort from Louis! Blows my mind how many goes he can have on such hard moves in one session!
16:16 Now you get to do it again, it's your favorite climb.. hahaha I loved that
Met Louis today he's such a genuine person and really nice, i got stuck on a wall and Louis was shouting encouragement at me. He's a really nice and genuine person.
This was the most emotional climbing video I've ever seen.
I've never seen Louis get so frustrated and motivated...
It was awesome. I got pumped up just watching him.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The anger, the determination, the support from his friends, the perseverance. I love watching Louis' coaching videos but this shows a completely different side. Amazing
I'd probably have cried if i fell off like he did in the second to last attempt... my man climbed so hard his glasses came off lmao
had my hands on my head for a good couple of minutes after that fall!
Me too!!! Haha!!
Holy fuck yes that was drama as fuck. Fuck me!
That was one of the most authentic and engaging bouldering videos of all times. Thanks to you both for taking me through your emotions and congrats to the send of Steppenwolf!
“Now you get to do it again. It's your favourite climb.” ♥
Luckily, nobody at the offices wonders anymore why there's screaming coming from my room, and why I sometimes join in. I was kinda scared you hurt yourself falling off that last time … Louis, Dude, what a fight, so well done! 💪 Thanks for the video, Andrew!
Sometimes it's nice to see Loui's human side come out, or as human as climbing V13-14 is...
I very rarely post any comments on youtube videos I watch but genuinely this had me tearing up when Louis topped it. Been watching from the beginning and this has by far been my favourite video. Amazing work Louis! and a story so well told and presented Andrew! Keep up the awesome work
The emotion and story telling in this is amazing
This was a beautiful video. I cried multiple times, and I'm not ashamed. All the emotions! I'm glad it was a happy ending. Really shows how grit, perseverance, and mental strength are so important.
Man I feared that Louis really hurt himself when he slid off Steppenwolf there. Crazy stuff. Magic Woods seems so insanely hard.
I comment almost never on youtube but this video Andrew, amazing. Louis, you had me rooting for you, feeling devastated when you couldn't find the foothold and absolutely ecstatic when you made it up top. Loved every moment of this.
Thank you so much!
Heart was in my mouth when Louis comes off the top, great effort to get back on and send. Nice vid Andrew, love your work!!!!
Boulder denim jean wearer under Louis' recommendation. They are insanely good, real amazing while climbing and you can just brush the chalk off, put a tshirt on and head down the pub. Big Congratulations on the climb Louis!
Cheers Andrew, another great video that's got me out the door heading to climb xD
Louie, that one fall was a total heart breaker (luckily not an ankle breaker!)! So psyched you sent! I love your attitude too!
One of the best projecting videos I’ve ever seen produced! I can’t believe your insane spirit and positive energy to keep going after the fall! Great music and tons of emotion in this video!! Congrats on the send!
absolutely brilliant vid - love seeing louis struggle and tough it out. excellent head game!
Genuinely good o watch. Thanks
I have bought a cord that keeps your glasses on while climbing or doing any other physical activity. It is shoved over the parts that go behind your ears and connect at the back of your head. I think that would have helped in Louis case.
I felt louis' frustration and I wanted him to succeed. I really love how you capture and edit your content to be emotive. It's why your channel stands out to me. Keep the great videos coming !
The amount of edits / scenes cut together is fabulous in building the tension of whether Louis gets the send or not. You really feel like you are there experiencing the boulder with him, so much so my better half is asking what are you 'ooing and aahing' at! Great production Andrew!
Andy, this really is a very, very good video. Tip of the cap to you sir.
Thank you fine sir.
wow... just wow Louis. To get back on that after a fall like that and get the send is incredible man. You had to fight for that one and it paid off. Way to go man!
Brilliant, Superb, Wonderful, Amazing .......gonna need some new words over here.
Absolutely awesome video Andrew, you have a gift of capturing your subject's personality in the most accurate way. No frills, just a real insight into how top level climbs get done. Or sometimes, don't get done. Congratulations on the send, Louis.
Very happy for you, Louis! You fought so hard and showed a lot of bravery jumping back on after that nasty fall.
Andrew, thank you for capturing this. Fantastic editing. Louis, thanks for being so willing to share this process. It's encouraging to see someone who is such an incredible climber battle through the mental side of the sport. Phenomenal.
Way to go Louis! I started climbing about 3 months ago and you are the number one guy I like to watch boulder.
Congratz Louis! That fall at the end just shows how hard you tried and were comitting and that really paid off at the end! Great accomplishment! Must've been great to have the support of all your friend through that journey.
Also Andrew the editing was perfect and you really succeded to share the emotion of the target (Louis).
So emotionally relatable. Louis is all of us in this video, anyone who has been in that same place of frustration is going to be hit hard by this video. Really really well done edit man, and solid efforts from Louis of course!
Louie is propably the most positive climber ive seen and most fun to watch. great job there :)
Big thanks to both Louis and Andrew but I have to say especially to Louis for the dedication and being so damn inspiring. The frustration is relatable and something about this video just puts a smile on my face, to see someone persevere despite all the failures and ultimately overcome it just makes me want to be more like that.
One of the best climbing youtube video at the moment ! It's so rare to view the whole process, especially when the send is not guaranteed at all.
What a send. Inspiring. Never-ending Story looked brutal. Big props. You look like you have a good crew supporting some great climbs.
Probably the best climbing vlog I've seen. Unreal mental effort let alone the physical one!!
I wonder what's "special" about V13/14. What I mean is, many top climbers here on UA-cam (Emil, Magnus, Louis) have climbed V13 and clearly *can* climb V14 (Emil's heartbreaker remains clear in my memory, and Louis is very strong here also). I imagine, if either Emil or Louis lived near Magic Wood, they'd get this V14 within a season. But almost no one -- none whom I can think of -- have climbed V15. By V15, you're being written about in climbing magazines. Many of the more famous V15s -- Kintsugi, The Nest, Lucid Dreaming, No Kpote Only (yes), From Dirt Grows The Flowers, and so forth -- have only seen a handful of ascents.
I have no idea what could separate a V14 from a V15, but maybe stronger climbers could shed some light. Amazing video here from Louis and from all the other UA-camrs mentioned and unmentioned.
Amazing!! Thanks for documenting. The fall off the slab was heartbreaking but made the send so much better
I literally started palming the couch with my right hand as he was topping out... super enthralling video and proud effort. Last try sends are pretty much unbeatable.
Thanks for sharing your process and congrats on the send.... but where were the spotters???
By FAR the best video on the channel great job editing and storytelling man! & thanks louie for being a beast
What a beautiful video!I loved it!!
Louis - You are my Hero!
Andrew - Thank You for showing me my Hero!
What A BATTLE!! so sick, this is "the bouldering experience" at it's best. Loved this video. Louis congrats man you are a champ!
Beautiful cinematography and awesome resilience from Louis, I love to see him struggle but that fall at 15:00 was heart breaking, I’m glad he ended up sending it
Insane, what a fall and what a standing up attitude.
Great video! Happy Louis did it after that fall from the top out, looked scary!
Epic battle. Well done. Congratulations!
I find these trip vlogs a tonneeee more entertaining and satisfying to watch instead of him crushing indoors. Much more drama, keep it up!
Wow this was so gripping 👀. So glad he did it in the end ! Well done Loui
I was legit so happy when he finally got it. Good job Louis and nice work on the filming and the editing Andrew
Just felt like I went through a journey with you Louis, so happy you got to achieve your goal, so much emotion and always enjoy your videos and how you talk about the whole experience and feelings, also your video came at the right time, me and my friend was saying wheres your videos you been quiet lol.
Wow i really got emotionally invested into seeing you send it, glad you did. Big respect on that dedication Louis.
I absolutely looove Louis 😁 could watch him all day!
Watching all the way from Australia. You guys are doing a great job.
Let's bring Louis to his limits. Incredible video. Great editing and superb climber
Great video with good bouldering and honest view to projecting. No gimmigs, really liked it and congrats for the topout in the end, worth the batle for sure!
Oh my god! Man, that commitment! I got goosebumps, when you sent it! Amazing performance! Big Up
My favorite video so far guys, I felt so emotionally invested, it would have crushed me if Louis didn't send. Great work and congrats Louis. Also, thanks for the discount code! I'm excited to try a pair of those jeans out.
That fall from the top was heartbreaking.
congrats Louis, well done for sticking with it
This was an emotional journey!
What an AMAZING video Andrew! And congrats to Louis!
Funny enough it was very obvious when Louis would send at 18:30. From the first second of that attempt you could see his way of moving changed. Core of steel, focused movement, very precise, ready to correct any mistakes and willing to give 100%. Very cool!
Gripping. Love it. We all feel his pain.
You climbed like you just wanted it to become a perfect story for a video :D
Thumbs up for your effort. It was amazing to watch!
What a video! So glad Louis got it in the end.😅
Amazing determination Louis! Try, try and try again. Amazing send
Never seen Louis angry before. Really glad he got it in the end
One of the best videos I've seen from you if not the best! Fantastic editing, and I was on the edge of my seat for the final ascent! Thanks a bunch, and congrats on the climb Louis!!
This is the hardest bouldering video to watch. So many heartbreakers I can strongly relate
Great video guys, your content is always getting better and better.. And thanks for the boulderdenim code as well; my girlfriend was looking to get me a pair for Christmas since I love bouldering in jeans but they always get trashed, thanks for helping us out on the cost!
Your best video yet for me. Very emotional.
I've never been so invested in a climbing video, this was amazing. Well done!
“The woman’s jeans have pockets-“
OMG I NEED SOME 😂😂👌
So good!!! I was screaming with Louis and feeling the emotion. Such a sick battle and stoked it ended with that solid send!
Apart from this is one of the best outdoor bouldering videos, Louis should get an ear hook for holding his glasses.
so many heartbreakers in this video. glad to see him send finally.
Love the dynamic on the boulder AND in the comments. You guys are such a bunch of down to earth guys doing their thing. I love it. Came from dave, will go to emil
yeah! that s a lot of effort right there! what a battle!!
That fall from the top must have been heartbreaking (for Louie) - but was super entertaining :P well done on the clip and send.
I love these videos and how they depict the process! It’s really inspiring!! Keep on making great stuff!!
Such a warrior Louis!
Really good vlog of a climb! Well done to Louis! Brilliant effort and congratz on the climb!
Such a journey
Unbelievable almost fell again before the final top out. Well in Louis!
That fall was terrifying! What a send!!
Fantástica lucha, un auténtico TITÁN!!!
Louis just raging and yelling "F*********k". Rarely see it, but I could feel it all the way from Tennessee. 💥 Also, that fall made my hands sweat!
What a journey....incredible video once again. Loving the heartbreak moments and the music. I was so glad to see you top that boulder after your numerus tries
Was on the edge of my seat for most of it, awesome video!
